Hawks said we will pay the luxury tax then shed salary. Braves said top 5 payroll and acting like broke boys.
I had never heard of my guy JHM before tonight, but now I am furious about this blatant disrespect of him game. Clear cut top 100 prospect if I've ever seen one.
my two year old is absolutely crushed we traded jhm (her favorite position player prospect). just woke her up so she didn’t have to see it all over Twitter in the morning
Mark Derosa on MLB Network just predicted dansby to the cubs Spoiler and Correa to the Braves. Done deal imo
That sound you hear is Cobb County residents fumbling with their cell phone holsters to call friends and voice displeasure over the lack of hard working white position players we are targeting
Preller overpay man. Not the AAV necessarily but the years. Soto, Grisham, Tatis Jr. Machado, Bogaerts, Kim, Cronenworth Catcher def got a squad of hitters
That's more than I thought bogaerts would get for sure. I guess it's in-line with todays market but damn, almost 300M?
Money isn’t as crazy as the years. $25M AAV is in line with (actually less than) his value relative to the market. But two of the top SS guys getting contracts that carry them to 40 at that money is pretty nuts. My takeaway from that deal is that there’s not much leverage for Dansby to demand a significant amount of money more than what the Braves offered him in-season. He’s going to quibble over an extra $2M a year and end up playing for somebody like the Cubs with no real chance of making the postseason.
I don’t think any of these guys should be allowed to change positions down the road. Make them keep playing shortstop at 40.
Didn’t mean to imply that, just mean there’s plenty of evidence to indicate that a 40-year-old position player isn’t going to be worth anything remotely close to $25M.
I wasn’t responding to you, just pointing out that 10 year deals for guys with mid-level power and who rely on speed and range isn’t a great investment
Right but he could still be a solid DH, or move to 2nd or 3rd if needed in the coming years. Once Dansby’s fielding declines he won’t have anything to fall back on.
Bat doesn't really profile at a corner or dh anymore. Last 3 years.. 11/23/15 home runs. I think he's going to age worst of them all. I didn't know much about him but a lot of the top free agents lists talked about him starting to fall off.
Imagine how good we would be if we could just finally get a full season of both healthy Acuña/Albies.
