She’s playing a game of chicken w Dems, she’ll run as an independent and siphon votes in a close state assuring a Republican victory. Even if the Dems don’t run a candidate she probably wouldn’t win as an independent so she’s basically guaranteeing a Republican victory. Real shit human
My read is probably wrong but that feels like I am doing this so when I get my hour on CNN I can say I was an independent and therefore I can say all kinds of wacky bullshit
I agree that the Democrats need to run against Sinema and whatever crackpot the Rs nominate, but this makes 2024 even harder in an already rough Senate. The Democrats are defending seats in: AZ MI MT NV OH PA WV It’s difficult even for me to imagine a scenario that Brown wins Ohio. There are no vulnerable R seats.
Crazy you think Sherrod loses. Not surprising I guess but really indicative of the shit hole Ohio has become. With all due respect :/
I don’t even know what the strategy should be for her seat now. I don’t think she has a prayer of winning regardless, but has basically guaranteed a Repub flip. I can’t imagine that spending time or money with her would have any return on investment, but totally punting on that seat is a terrible idea. Maybe find a young/inexperienced candidate who can run a visible but inherently doomed campaign to hopefully re-take the seat in 8 years? Fucking balls Sinema is awful.
Schumer should remove her from all committees, and especially her chair positions. Give her no authority at all. Make her a very very insignificant and ostracized senator for the next 2 years. Blame her and her narcissism for all the dysfunction in DC and make it so no one would ever vote for her again. That will help minimize the split vote effect.
Am I missing something? Is AZ a first past the post state or would no candidate getting 50%+1 guarantee a runoff?
She's more popular with Republicans than Democrats per polling. Don't think this keeps the Dems from tapping a strong candidate at all
AZ is a plurality state, no runoff for not reaching 50%+1. Candidate with most votes wins. Could be a 34%-33%-33% split among the 3 candidates and the 34% getter would win.
Since 2008, the eastern part of Ohio has flipped bright red, similar to patterns in Western PA and WV. That used to be solid blue from the river communities along the WV panhandle up through the Mahoning Valley. Tim Ryan ran a great campaign and still lost handily, including his own Congressional district in the Mahoning Valley. Eastern Ohio is gone now. There aren’t enough votes in urban/suburban Cleveland, Akron, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and Toledo to make up that offset.
I guess I could see how she could help siphon Dem voters but she is deeply deeply unpopular with the majority of the base and honestly seems like she would siphon off a few reluctant GOP voters if they run another outright white supremacist like Blake Masters again.
Honestly this is all going to be moot if the SC just lets GOP controlled state legislatures run elections basically however they want, the remaining bits of democracy will be dead by 2024 I'm betting.
Oh, I’m not suggesting she will get a significant vote share. But the Dem leadership should do everything to make her so toxic that she gets a very insignificant vote share.
Following this shit makes my already shit life worse and I don't care for it From the tone of the thread we have no chance at the senate in 24 and motherfucker that makes me angry That's all i have eat arbys
This woman is just an elite piece of shit. I’ll be happy when we never have to hear her name again and I wish the most evil shit humanly possible on this piece of shit
There’s very little chance that the dem wins in 24 though, correct? Even if she only gets 2-3% of the dem vote, that seems like it would be enough. *edit I suppose we have to hope she siphons an equal or greater amount of R votes.
The conistency is remarkable. I dunno if you could poll all those different demographics and have them be that consistent on any topic or person.
This is literally a fuck you to AZ Dems and Gallego, she knows what she is doing. Permanently dead in the water in AZ, if she runs there is zero chance Gallego or whoever can win. Independents outnumber Dems in registrations, pretty significantly, and it’s hard to see the bulk of those that just voted for Kelly Hobbs voting for Gallego with an “independent” in the race. She can’t win herself, no chance, but she’s petty and spiteful enough to ensure people that have helped poison the water for her can’t either.
Does she not know what the purpose of DC is a :checks notes: body of publicly elected officials? Nevermind.
It's been shared a million times, but it's incredible how much of an evil piece of shit she almost immediately became basically after she won the primary in 2018. Only a year or two before this she advocated for student loan forgiveness.
hard to fathom. Like most politicians suck. I guess some of that is because people who decide to become politicians suck. And DC money/lobbying/influence corrupts a lot of people. But not everyone. And even if it does, it happens slowly. In her instance, she just fucking flipped a switch right away
I would sooner not vote the race than vote for her again if AZ Dems don't put up a challenger (as some have suggested). She's a heinous, vile piece of shit. Unless the pubs manage to run someone much worse than Masters I don't see how that seat doesn't end up flipping.
Funding without a party might be tough for her. Corporate donors will just give it to a GOP candidate than her.
I mean, if AZ is going to nominate the Kari Lake's of the world on the Republican side, I'd think a good number of Republicans would vote Sinema before Dems who would feel spited and she is wildly unpopular with.
I would also sit it out, first one ever, but I don’t love the alternatives. Basically have to hope someone can buy her off(not that difficult) and push her into a cushy retirement. Some have suggested Biden giving her some position or ambassadorship but she’s never taking something that easy, she’s going to be an enormous pain until she can extract maximum value
It sure where to put this - Got a notice in the mail from supervisor of elections: Surprised they were allowed to send any notice at all out
