The narratives you spin from whatever random people you follow for crypto news are wild. The people I follow now are wondering where the guy got $25m (last I checked it’s a 10% requirement) to post bail. Also maybe set bail well above the amount that the jackass allegedly stole in customer funds…
so you just dont think he should have been given bail also i'm responding to literal tweets and posts in this thread, not elsewhere
It really isn’t that difficult My response was about the other $21 million but what’s really hilarious are the egos/dumbasses who think they know what they are talking about just search crypto again and you’ll see another boring poster call you or me out today.. but we’ve never mentioned the subject that is triggering the bro
What don’t you understand about this? The people I follow now are wondering where the guy got $25m (last I checked it’s a 10% requirement) to post bail. Also maybe set bail well above the amount that the jackass allegedly stole in customer funds…
https://blockworks.co/news/bankman-fried-bail-past-indictments wow this sounds uniquely strange, oh wait
I'm generally against the bail system in general for non-violent offenders so him getting out doesn't bother me at all. Is he a threat to society? I don't think so.
Either he’s a flight risk or he’s not. And nothing is preventing authorities from pursuing civil or criminal forfeiture if there is anything more than conjecture about the provenance of the funds.
I'm going to preface this by saying I spend way too much time on Crypto Twitter. What User and many other in the crypto space were referring is a conspiracy theory that the funds for bail were from ftx users or from the government? (I can't keep them straight). I've read it was from his parents, specifically some property that they put up to satisfy bail. Which was then spun into another conspiracy that it was property that was purchased in the Bahamas w/ ftx user funds. My point was that not everything is a conspiracy theory, which at every turn is what crypto folks have been trying to turn this into. I'm not an expert on financial crimes but from what I've read they've moved at record speed on the FTX deal. Not exactly the narrative most are spinning. The conspiracy from the beginning and that most in the crypto space are running with is that this was some government psyop and ftx was a patsy to bring on more regulation or to regulate the space into the ground. In reality they were kids hopped up on stimulants w/ bad business ethics and even worse business practices. Not everything is a conspiracy theory.
I need cliffs user just posted a tweet and replied multiple times wondering where the rest of the bailout money came from sorry you’re getting a lyrtch response from me but good god
There are definitely randoms who post stuff like this on twitter. The vast majority of people I follow don’t think anything besides SBF being a fraudulent idiot who belongs in jail.
I posted tweets of people thinking bail should be higher and that the guy who “lost everything” finding $25m is uhhh suspicious. Lol at calling those conspiracies or putting them at the same level of all the stuff you posted.
“His parents” doesn’t even match what’s being reported. Also not sure they deserve the benefit of the doubt. Same parents who had property in their name in the Bahamas… “The bond was secured by equity in Bankman-Fried’s family home, as well as by the signatures of his parents and two other individuals with “considerable” assets, according to CNBC.”
I think you guys are missing the real story here. Imagine stealing $8billion, only to lose it trading crypto. I can't really think of anything more pathetic than that! Also, you're just making up that he put up $25mil. You don't know. You're just making it up.
is that how bail is determined and the intent of its use weird Madoff didn't have a higher one in that case
I responded to this already are you as dense and short minded as the person you argued with last week? it was the top search once again.. you’re choosing to respond to that instead of my post about the $4 million his parents contributed and specifically asking you for the other $21
Bail should be used to punish people before they stand trial. It's the American way. It's like in the Constitution, or something.
Are y’all mad at how twitter works? Because there’s a thread for that where you dumb shits embed tweets
I don't really know how bail bonds work but don't you put up like a lot less than what the bond actually is? I know everyone on crypto twitter is probably a bail bond expert but I'm just asking questions.
The amount seems pretty ridiculously low given the circumstances. And I don’t set the percentage of him being a flight risk at zero given the resources he likely still has access to. Not uncommon to either: do kwon, 3ac guys, etc.
I never claimed to understand how bail works. What I'm not going to do is explain it away w/ conspiracies based on the top responses from twitter.
Again I simply asked where the other $21 million came from. The second tweet in my post hinted where it came from. What’s confusing is the predictable tangent that lyrtch made that you agreed with and I questioned help me help you
I can absolutely buy denying bail based on the flight risk. The rest is just trying to create a justification for pre-trial detention by creating an impossibly high bail number when the factors wouldn’t otherwise call for denial of bail.
It's not $21 million. SBFs parents just put up their house and all other non-exempt assets against the $250 million. They put up everything, and the government said, "OK."
$21 million bond from outside sources is a lot. Nobody here probably has parents with $4 million to bail them out of jail. To question this is the most hilarious thing ever posted on TMB.
Can you embed a tweet so we know this to be true? Again from what’s been posted it seems like they gave $4 million and the rest is unrealized assets him being allowed bail is not the issue here, which is what is being implied here
For the last time idk how bail bonds work but your source is from a guy w/ .eth in his name and im guessing he doesn't either.
