There is a cat on the way to a deli I walk to about once a week. He lays entirely across the sidewalk, meows and demands tribute paid in pets like a bridge troll before you can pass. .
so the stray (lil wild man) I'm "fostering" did something this morning I've only seen dogs do. I left the toilet lid open and he climbed up on the seat and splashed all the water out of the bowl onto the floor. I heard a noise from the basement, came down and it was a lake all over the floor.
Update: no pics, but this guy lives on the ultimate awesome cat street. Probably like 25 lots on this block, with like 5 incredibly social cats. Ran into a bartender I know while walking down that block (she lives there, and knows where I live). Her: what are you doing here? Seems kinda out of the way. Me:…..
To be clear - we don't own a pet of any kind. We just have to deal with some ridiculous shit regularly. Both of us have had to catsit for Oskar and Mensa multiple times and video and photos have been posted on the board. This isn't a bit.
My wife took our cat into the vet just now. She is showing all the signs of final stage of renal failure. I hope there is something they can do and give her more quality life. I'm not sure she is coming home.
make sure they run a thyroid blood panel. Sometimes an overactive thyroid can fuck up kidney values (pumps their blood pressure sky high)
They just ran the blood work panel, kidney indicate still in early stages of renal failure. She apparently is diabetic now and is in a diabetic haze. So, very glad we took her in... Gonna start some insulin and see how that goes. Vet was surprised when he saw the lab results, we all thought it was time. Plesently suprised.
that's good news. I was going to say, just judging from the photo, that doesn't look like a cat in end stage renal failure. Eyes are bright and her fur looks healthy.
I make the trip from Austin to Htown quite often since my family is there. Cat sleeps for most part. 3.5 hours in and she will start trying to get out her carrier cause she knows it’s time. she used to vomit once a trip, then sleep. Now it’s just sleep. got lucky she fits with my lifestyle
Our little fuckers made a like 16-hour journey from their home in Tulsa to Arizona. Doubt they’ll want to do that again.
Update #2: in the only urgent care open on Christmas. The insulin dose was too much apparently and her glucose dropped to almost 0. She started having seizures and we are going to have to leave her on an IV overnight. Doctor here isn't sure she was ever diabetic to begin with. I'm at a loss. She hasn't stopped seizures and I just don't know... Hopefully her sugars are OK tomorrow.
Sorry TableKnight SIL had a porch cat hanging around during Christmas tonight. Snuck him out some selections from the charcuterie tray
The final vet after looking at everything thinks it was most likely an undiagnosed brain tumor or cancer that has been manifesting different the past few months. But the last few days were different and difficult. trying to keep her would have been unfair.
Tumors in cats are way more different then in dogs and cats will try their best to hide any symptoms or signs until it is too late. I’m sorry for your loss and I know your cat was very much loved until the very end.
