It's always weird going back east and sports starting so much later. I thought it would be awful when I first moved out here but it ended up being the opposite. TNF, SNF, MNF kicking off after 5 (or 6 soon) > after 8.
nice for games to end and you still have time to watch another show, read, prep the next day's meal, etc.
Central seems the best to be able to watch coast to coast sports without having to stay up freakishly late. I'm only lived in Eastern and Central, but vastly prefer Central for live sports.
If you have only lived in eastern and central and prefer central, then let me tell you that you’d prefer it in mountain. And probably pacific. It only gets better as you go west through the time zones
I hear good things about mountain. Actually no, haven't ever heard anyone mention it in relation to sports.
I've been to the west coast enough that Pacific sucks shit too for live sporting events. I'm open to Mountain.
Pacific seems less than ideal if you follow European soccer. The main slate of EPL matches starting at 7:00am for example. For the North American sports, it’d be a challenge if you were a transplant and followed eastern time zone teams, but obviously wouldn’t be an issue if you were a local fan of a west coast team. Central and Mountain do seem appealing sports wise, though.
Pacific seems problematic for weeknight games if you like to eat dinner not in front of a television.
The extremes of eastern and pacific are the worst. As an old man who likes to go night night at a reasonable hour, pacific is the lesser evil. Mountain time is my favorite.
Central/Eastern guys, do you watch hoops? It's 10/11:08 and there's ~3 mins left in the first quarter of the Warriors/Lakers opening night game.
Waking up at 4AM Pacific time to watch a soccer match sounds awful Or. Just keep drinking until 4AM. Maybe it’s not horrible.
I'm going to apply for my permanent residency in Mexico this year US is so unnecessarily fucking expensive /deardiary
Looking likely that I’ll have the chance to move. Looking in the Silver Springs, MD area. Anyone know anything about it?
You live in one of the most expensive metro areas and are enjoying the strong power of the USD in Mexico. Silly statement.
TBF, I've spent more of the last year outside of the US than inside. Making the subjective cost more pronounced. Doesn't make my statement untrue.
Minnesota's likely about to get full weed legalization and guaranteed access to abortion in 2023 FWIW
But I'd add it's currently -20 with wind chill and 35mph winds here so sit tight where you're at if you're kind of a little bitch about that kind of thing. Spoiler I don't want more people here
I have friends from college who grew up in those general suburbs and loved it. More Potomac and Bethesda, but basically that area. I'm sure that's helpful.
Lived in Silver Spring for a summer and had friends who lived there longer. Character changes very quickly based on precise location. Didn’t consider it for a second when I moved back to DC. What’s specifically drawing you to Silver Spring - is your job there and how do you plan on commuting?
Had to go 4 pages deep before someone mentioned Hawaii. This is the correct answer. If warm weather year round isn’t a requirement, New Jersey. Pizza, full service gas stations and every town has a home they claim George Washington slept in.
Having to wait (and pay extra) for someone else to pump your gas is one of the WOAT things about Oregon and New Jersey.
I dunno, I didn’t really mind when it was raining/snowing or cold as shit outside. Also helps employ that guy who peaked in high school/recent immigrants. Haven’t kept up with gas prices since leaving NJ, but unless something has changed, it was cheaper than NY and a couple other NE states.
as a former oregon resident i probably prefer the required pumping even if it does have some drawbacks
it is funny to have your high american salary and be mad that it doesn't go as far as it does in mexico
Sorry, you are mistaken, Pacific is easily the best. Grew up in EST, lived in CST, but have spent my adult life in PST. Football at 10 am and 1 pm on Sundays with the late game at 5. For other major sports (NY fan), watching after work while eating dinner is wonderful and you're done by 7-8 pm ...
Haven't read the whole thread, but moved from Fresno, CA to Scottsdale, AZ 2 years ago and dig it, but kept my condo in the Palm Springs area for the winter - best weather in the US from Nov. to April.
Sports ending at normal times is great. Sunday night kick at 5:20 or 6:20 and you're not up until midnight to see the end.
Not sure I've been to a gas station that doesn't have covered pumps so the whole raining/snowing thing has zero relevancy in the 21st century.. And I'd sure as shit rather have those people needlessly filling gas pumping jobs fill jobs that are better needed and contribute to the economy.
