This is like a month ago from 2 pages. A handful of people going at lyrtch for dumb takes. Too lazy to pull anything else

Why do people think you have to either agree or disagree with literally everything a person says. I may take it too far sometimes but I know If we go back and forth enough I’ll always get little better understanding of what lyrtch is trying to say, even if I don’t agree with it. Healthy debate is a good thing. (even if I come off as an asshole every-time I try to engage in it)

I was in that conversation iirc. The entire point was our media does this to literally every person with power and there are very few exceptions, usually by more off the beaten path journalists.

it’s TMB? This happens in nearly every thread.

Lyrtch during your last convo with him said you were incapable of having a conversation. Two days ago he instantly ran with the conspiracy talk when all user posted was a tweet about the bond. It always turns political or some policing about the source of the info.

The circumstances around this case are unique. Questioning who and how the bail process works in this situation is normal. It’s perfectly fine to have a convo and debate, and let’s stop acting like this thread is the only one that gets derailed.

PS I’ve got an extra .swoosh code if you want it. The back and forth about how this went down the other day doesn’t need to persist.
We can wait until January and the next court date to see who the other two signers were and how much they are contributing to the bond.

They contributed a signature. They are legally responsible for $250m if he skips bail. They dont have to show they aftually have $250m to sign for him. Why can't you grasp that?

I'll post this again bv you clearly didn't read it the first time.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/23/... received a $10,was released on $300,000 bail.

The release this week of Sam Bankman-Fried, the disgraced cryptocurrency executive, from federal custody on a $250 million bond has raised questions about the federal bail process and why such a high-profile defendant was allowed to go free.

The bond essentially amounts to a promise to appear in court when required; it does not compel Mr. Bankman-Fried, who is charged with numerous crimes related to his handling of the cryptocurrency exchange he founded, to pay $250 million.

No money has changed hands and none will unless Mr. Bankman-Fried fails to show up for court or is found to have violated other conditions set by the judge.

In that case, his parents’ house in Palo Alto, Calif., which was used to secure the bond, could be seized by the government. The four people who are to co-sign the bond, including one nonfamily member, would be on the hook for the rest of the $250 million.

Hope you take some time off today and spend time with your family instead of trying to stir this back up or think that you’re actually informing me of anything. My response above was to Harrison, nobody else.

Just admit you had no clue how the fed bail system worked. It's really not that hard. You keep going bacl to "who contributed to his bail?" and that's just not how it works. Some people signed saying they'll be on the hook for it if he skips bail. That's it.

Not happening. You know articles can be edited over time as more information comes in? Happy I could teach you something for once. From another article.

The court documents also were no readily available until later in the day, after this convo already spiraled. I know more about the case and bond today than I did two day ago. It’s not that difficult but for some reason you want to make this dramatic and act like you’re the expert here. That’s it. Have a great day! Merry Christmas!

You still don't graps how fed bail works. You just refuse to admit that. You are hung up on there being $25m pledged and that's just not how it works. It's hilarious to see your brain twist into a pretzel over that bc you can't grasp fed and state being different bail systems.

The brother of Larry Dean Harmon pled guilty to stealing bitcoin seized from his brother by the FBI. That story is unremarkable, except for the fact that the brother made no attempt to conceal spending after Larry Harmony’s arrest, even posing on social media in a bathtub full of cash.

Larry Harmon was arrested in February 2020, pled guilty in August 2021, and has yet to be sentenced because he’s out on bond cooperating with the FBI.

He operated Helix, a mixer the FBI asserts laundered over 350,000 bitcoin. He also developed or assisted with the Darknet search engine Grams.

Harmon forfeited $200 million as part of his plea deal.

Since August 2021, he has been working to catch others, and reduce his eventual sentence. That part is interesting.

His company was sitting on roughly $500m in cash as of August 2020 iirc. On that date, they started putting excess cash into btc. Given the comparison to other general asset classes, their performance, and options that his company had at the time, I'd be curious what you think he should've done instead.

You're also completely ignoring that he's down billions. He didn't buy it all at 15k or whatever it was in August 2020. His average is over 30k so he's literally down since he started buying. It's hilarious to spike the ball as winning when we know that. That's some incredible spin.

It's had a good month though.
