Info: - Start Date: Opening weigh-in week will be Monday, January 9th through Sunday, January 15th (although late sign-ups are still welcome and encouraged, and late arrivals have been winners in previous editions of TMBBL) - The competition will run 16 full weeks following Opening Week from January 9th through May 22nd, which begins the final weigh-in week. Contest ends the day before Memorial Day. - End Date: Final weigh-ins will be due the week of Monday, May 22nd through Sunday, May 28th - Contest is 20 weeks long to encourage healthy habits and weight loss, please see rules regarding drastic weight loss on a week-to-week basis (this is discouraged because of past contests won by extreme fasting/water weight manipulation) - $25 entry fee, will message Venmo information after you sign up *please make sure to send all venmo payments privately* - Results are determined by body weight % dropped (initial weigh-in minus final weigh-in divided by initial weigh-in) - Weekly results will be posted every Monday morning Rules: -For the initial weigh-in, post a picture of your scale with username and date somewhere in the pic. -Take a before pic with username and date (will only need to post if you place). The pic helps verify the weight loss and will help give you an idea of how much weight you've lost. -You must weigh-in each week (no photo required, simply a post with your weight some time between Monday and Sunday of each full week in the contest). -If you miss three consecutive weigh-ins, you will be disqualified. -Final weigh-in should include scale with username and date. -If you win, you should post an after pic with username and date alongside your before pic. - After the first week of weigh-ins following the initial weigh-in, if you post multiple weeks with double digit losses or post a loss greater than 10 lbs in the final week you will be disqualified. This is set up to encourage people to find healthy, long-term ways to improve their wellness and discourage extreme measures like fasting and dehydration. Winners: 1st place: ~70% of total pot 2nd place: ~20% of total pot 3rd place: ~5% of total pot Little Guy: ~5% of total pot -Little Guy (assuming more than one small guy signs up): for start weights 215 and under -Little Guy cannot both place and win Little Guy. If Little Guy gets 1st or 2nd, then the Little Guy award will go to the second place Little Guy. If the Little Guy gets 3rd, Little Guy will take the Little Guy award and the fourth place person will get the third place award. -If not enough folks sign up so that 3rd place and Little Guy win something, percentages/amounts will be shifted. This will occur at the beginning of the competition, and I will both edit this post and post a comment so everyone is aware. All health-related discussion is welcome, including from folks who aren’t participating in the competition. Our goal is to create a healthier TMB.

Count me in. Already lost a decent amount of weight recently being sick as fuck so will likely gain that back before weigh ins. Also love the idea of going end of CFB to Memorial Day weekend.
I’m in. Discouraging that I’m back to this after I went from 340 to 230 back in 2017. I just can’t find an equilibrium- if I’m not actively dieting i gain weight despite being fairly active. Nervous to see what I’m going to be at weigh in
To quote the Black Eyed Peas, "Let's do it, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it and do it, and do it, let's live it up, and do it, and do it, and do it, do it, do it, let's do it, let's do it, let's do it."
I’ll join for the little guys. Went from 225 to 165 in 2019 running and hiit workouts. Pandemic screwed me up and I’m back over 200.
Not competing but want to drop by for my annual post to tell you all I’m fucking proud of each of you for trying to better yourselves. I always enjoy seeing everyone’s progression and reading about successes and struggles. We’ve all been there. Don’t just think of the journey as losing weight. You’re doing it to gain health, fitness, confidence, etc. Now let’s some see gains.
So is the correct strategy to do first weigh-in on Monday Jan 9th, then each weekly weigh-in on Sunday so the second weigh-in would be Jan 22nd and the very last weigh-in would be May 28th? I realize it doesn’t have to be those specific days, we get a full week to log weigh-in’s, but for consistency
I do a similar weight loss challenge each year with my buddies and when we had a Monday weigh in it kept me honest through the weekend which is always the most difficult. If it was mid-week then I’d sometimes rely on a crash and recover cycle which ultimately wasn’t the healthiest. It was a lot less fun but I got the most rewarding results faster. The best advice I can offer is to brush your teeth after dinner. Snacking is one of my downfalls especially at night but if I brush my teeth it gives me a sense of “game over” and I can lock in the hard work of the day.
Shit... I started Jan 1 like a regular person and I'm already down 7 lbs (9lbs from NYEDay) Gonna make the challenge a bit tougher since I already lost the bloat water weight. Sure ill sign up anyway. I'm a little guy.
i'm in! like many of you guys my weight has yo-yoed my entire adult life. i will lose 30 lbs and feel great about myself. but a year and a half later i'm back to where i was. That's where I found myself in November when i hit the scale at 242. I'm already back down to 229 after a couple of months of pretty drastic changes. My main goal for this year is to hit a sustainable weight (215 ish) and go into active maintenance mode for the rest of the year. I have a tendency to hit a goal weight and immediately give up most of the good habits that got me there. This is the year I continue daily weigh ins and maintain a healthy weight. FWIW I have the Noom app plus a Renpho bluetooth scale to be extremely helpful with counting calories and tracking meals.
I’d be in but just starting to deal with a newly diagnosed blood disorder so ducking with too much probably isn’t a good idea. I wish you all good luck and cheering on your successes except Daniel Ocean for that short kings comment.
Diet is the best way to control weight. You still need to exercise for general health and we'll being but it takes a lot of exercise to burn 500 calories which is the equivalent of like 3 beers
Thanks man. I’ll be fine just gonna take some time. Considering what many people deal with this is minor but can cause organ failure when I’m older (60+) so glad we caught it at 42. Pretty much just have to give blood every week to pull my iron numbers down and then get to a maintenance blood letting point for the rest of my life. Good thing is that once that gets fixed they can go in and do a heart procedure to fix my newly found issue that causes SVTs. All totally manageable but just time consuming right now. Appreciate the good thoughts though.
