We did the kid's parade in 2016 and 2017 but haven't done anything for Gasparilla since I think 2010.
we last did kids parade in 2018 I think? I think I went to big parade in 2012 or 2013 in a tent after not going for a while. Haven’t been since
Gasparilla was fun when we lived within walking distance and didn't have kids. Having to worry about parking and being responsible for tiny humans made Gasparilla significantly less fun. Although watching the parade at the end of the route in downtown is a lot easier(for parking)/less crowded than Bayshore. Well it was 10 years ago.
Has anyone been to Timpano since it reopened? I know some who went right when it opened back up and said it was different, but idk about recently. Kind of want to try it
Non bern’s restaurant recommendations for a 10 person bachelor party? Going in march and looking for a couple high end places to eat dinner
Original Hooters in Clearwater. Just thinking in terms of central locations I've had really good experiences at: Ulele, Meat Market, Eddie Vs, and Capital Grille Have heard really good things about Rocca and Mise en Place Lawnole23 knows all the fancy hot spots
That place looks like a really cool experience. Although I'd have a rough time reconciling paying that much for sushi
Roca, Meat Market, Olivia, Mise en Place is super fancy but not sure it’s a bachelor party type spot. Meat Market is the best spot for a bachelor party IMO. Good food and drinks. Place is always packed and fun. Hot women everywhere. Close to bars afterwards. My friends speak highly of the Edition as well downtown but I haven’t been yet.
Food wise Olivia > Meat Market but agree for a bachelor party MM is better. The duck I got at MM was phenomenal.
Edition is really good. Agree on Meat Market. I went there with my wife a year ago and even she commented "are we good looking or cool enough to be here?"
I sat outside once for lunch I think it was with my wife. Had a steak that I was surprised how good it was. Second time with with one of my neighbors whom is absurdly wealthy, like drove his Lambo to buy his wife a new Rolls Royce SUV that the kids aren't allowed to ride in as her shopping and running errands car rich, and knows everyone in town and got us a private room in the back last minute on a Saturday night. Food/drinks/service was outstanding but that likely was because of whom we were with. Speaking of which should probably try to hang out again. Long story short. Meet and hang out with really rich people and your dinner reservation options improve tremendously.
Kidding, gave up the pleats a long time ago but like a khaki colored flat front slack once in a while.
Had countless incredible bottomless mimosa brunches there around 2014-2017. Had one bartender who would take us on a “tour.” Mimosas with various liquors added. Decorative fruits. Lit on fire. Etc. They finally caught on and realized the $15 we were being charged wasn’t nearly enough. Still recall over indulging and believing that me and the Crime Dog were buddies on a first name basis. Patient man, Fred McGriff.
this is a hilariously constructed sentence. Did go home with what might have been your wife for pleasures?
Yeah it was a nice day. Last five or six years I’d been around harbor island for it and usually just stayed in that area. This year my group started around mcdintons. Forgot how much fucking walking there can be when trying to bounce around to different parties.
going to Tampa in a few weeks for a bachelor party. got a trip to the racetrack and a Phillies spring training game on the schedule but we were trying to figure out some bars to go to at night? would be looking more for like sports bar type atmospheres than clubs.
the best sports bar in Tampa is Hattricks downtown. Can walk or take the streetcar as far as it goes downtown. Get shake and bake wings. They’re laughably expensive now, and even silly on happy hour, but the best. I honestly couldn’t even recommend another true sports bar here. Sparkman’s wharf which is new channelside has a beergarten with tvs and a big projector I’ve watched plenty of lightning and bucs games at. I don’t know what it’s really like at night. I don’t like hooters or winghouse. I mostly go to breweries to watch stuff when I do more options in downtown St Pete
which race track? Based on where you're staying, Tarpon Nole 's suggestion of Hattricks is a good one for a one stop sports bar. Yeoman's Cask & Lion was also solid the 1 time I went. But downtown Tampa isn't really a bar hopping area. For that you can either take the streetcar to Ybor, a quick Uber to SoHo (Howard Ave & Platt St.), or a long ass Uber to downtown St. Pete,. Keep an eye on events at Amalie Arena that week. Lightning games are a lot of fun. Safety Harbor has some good spots for food/drinks for before/after the Phillies game. They have a giant street festival the 3rd Friday of every month if you're in town that week that can be fun (lots of live music, drinks, & food). Downtown St. Pete does the same for the 1st Friday of every month.
Junior League Gasparilla party was pretty legit this year. Cigar roller, 5-6 bars open, two food stations and a Cane's food truck outside handing out chicken tenders/fries as much as you wanted. Excellent drunk food.
Nice. I live 5 min from there. Tampa Bay Brewing Company and Mother's are 2 good pre/post race track eating/drinking options that are close by.
the indoor space is small but they have an outdoor court yard Bar that was added during the pandemic that is nice . Just outside the Crunch Gym Pour House at Grand Central (813) 402-2923 https://maps.app.goo.gl/8Ht68bTEpGPsAcoc6?g_st=ic also Bar Louie just outside International Plaza is a chain sports restaurant/bar that is a short Uber ride from Dale Mabry Ave Strip Clubs if that is part of the plan.
Which is fine, but International Plaza is also not somewhere to send an out of towner unless they have a long layover at TPA or are looking for designer shopping
You don’t have to step foot inside the Mall to get there . Isn’t a bad spot to watch conference tourney games assuming early March.
I played at the Sarasota location when I was back in Florida for a wedding in November. Played both courses and had a couple beers. Fun concept. However, it started getting packed and slow as hell on the course at 11AM on a random Friday. My buddy said you can forget about trying to go on a weekend evening.
Yeah, I was telling my wife this morning that it is going to be slammed on the weekends. Best to go on a Tuesday after picking my son up at school at 3.
That looks really fun, but I can’t imagine being stuck behind a family of five with young kids that are just blasting the ball all over the place.
Of course there was a group with little kids hitting it into the parking lot, but I’m not sure they were the worst. There was also a company outing. 20+ people jamming up the entire Red course. Then we go over to the Black course and there’s a group of 6 or 7 old ass folks farting along. They’d each play the entire hole before the next person went. Blatantly disregarding the “No groups larger than 5” sign. I think another issue is the pricing. They essentially make it to where the only logical option is buy the “play all day” pass. So you’ve got people out there for hours running all over the damn place.
I'm a big mafia buff, Santo was the guy here for decades. From my understanding part of his power derived from the ability to seemlessly switch between English, Italian, and Spanish, result of growing up in Ybor way back in the day.
Good book. I read it 5-6 years ago. I’ve loved in Tampa most of my life and always have been intrigued by the local mafia history.
