I'm thinking of grabbing a pioneer belt they have in stock. Or should I customize it with my company name.
-A ref in Vermont harassed someone and has allegations of more harassment -Another ref in Vermont sexually assaulted a minor -A lifter/spotter in TX/KY sexually assaulted a minor -A former meet director left USPA in 2020 because it came to light his wife, a judge, fucked a child -USPA lied about background checks for officials So yea the light is getting shown in the corners and the cockroaches are running.
Supposedly there’s a NY Times article coming out about some strongman coach/judge who was abusive af to his girlfriend then ex-girlfriend which led her to suicide Healthy industry
Yea, Alec Jose. gym related sports attract a lot of broken people. It’s sad. A lot of addicts, abusive people, etc that try to replace actual therapy with working out. It sucks
i remember seeing posts about something in 2020, but nobody would say who or what, they were covering their ass or disavowing unnamed behavior.
He’s just a tested lifter/commentator right? Seems a decent guy. JP Price seems like a very good guy on untested side, hope I’m not wrong. That man is also a God in chugging beers. Saw him just casually bite the top of a can off and chug a beer in under a second. Like wtf
Know I’m late but Mike Israetel makes hypertrophy way too complicated for far too little incremental gain if any. I can’t imagine doing 15 sets per muscle and trying to calculate what my rpe/rir after each set while ar the same time training hard. Too much work. Just prefer to do less sets and train to failure and just try to keep beating the log book. Like conceptually why would I risk going 4 rir and missing a hypertrophic response. Seems too theoretical for me.
Johnny Layne left to go start USPC. He KNOWS his wife is a pedophile and he says it doesn’t concern him because “it’s in the past”
Capstone 88 or any other meathead in here. please post a link showing me how to squat without irritating my IT band. ty
Does it irritate you all the time or only when squatting? If the latter, more mobility exercises and glute strengthening to take the strain off the smaller muscles when squatting
The problem is there isn’t a “right way” To squat. It depends on your anatomy, mobility, etc. Could be hurting due to a lot of things: programming, prior injury, technique, etc. Do you drive your knees forward more when squatting or more sit back? What shoes do you squat in?
I was squatting in adipowers but I felt like I was on my toes too much so I switched to converse but now I have it band pain so I’m going back to the adipowers and reducing the weight.
I like Le Versa Gripps I got the Extremes. Because I am extreme. They're tacky. Pretty much feels like glue in your hands. I'm humbly impressed. I tried pulling 655 to see what I could do. I had no delusions about being able to complete it I just want to see how far I had to go. Cleared it off the ground by a few inch's both attempts. So I at least have a marker where I am. Yes I tweaked my groin up more. But this was just a test. I'm going to give it a week and go volume. Also any pulling movement is easy. I hook a hammer. My ironminds are forever in the bag but these are so easy to use
It's rather infuriating to me that lifetime went ahead and got nicer training plates but still kept their dog shit plates. So I went to one in Jersey in between jobs today and they had some beat to fuck plates that were absolutely embarrassing. Sadly after I was done lifting I realized that they had the nicer plates on the racks on the other side of the gym. Anyways. I just wanted to do a little shoulder work. Ohp 225 After 185 4x6. Then I wanted a 5th and go amrap. Some guy either a member or off duty trainer was talking to a trainer and their client in the space between platforms. Right in my blind spot. And I asked him to move. And he's like "I'm good I see you". I'm like dude. Nah can you move. Can you just stand behind the platform. He's like "I'm watching" I'm like No you can't see me your back was to me and you kept putting your foot on the fucking platform. Bozo little kids that run across the platform when I'm lifting or about to lift and lolly gag around the weight rack are somewhat understandable. Not someone who clearly has been around the gym for awhile. I also have a bad habit of not putting collars on the bar.
Did a 30 minute walk with 50 pounds after deadlift session instead of bike. Liked it as I’m getting sick of biking as my only cardio. Real nice upper back pump, think I’m gonna do it a few times a week. Coming for you Tom Haviland
Broke out the Stoic knee sleeves. Squatted 455. Then tried 475 and dumped it. Rather embarrassing because I felt good. But I tilted forward a smidge and I pussied out instead of fighting. Ive been slightly straining my right adductor area on deads and I don't want to really fuck it up before I got away in a few weeks. It'll tighten up after I cool off after the gym but it's fine the next day. But I don't want to aggravate it and lose time. my overall goal is to pull 7 plates this year. I'm really believing it now.
So Steve Denison essentially just sank USPA. Seemingly had it heading in a good direction then did the dumbest thing imaginable. Spoiler USPA Addresses False, Salacious Smears To our valued Members, I’d like to take a moment to speak with you directly about a smear campaign launched against the USPA— an esteemed organization that has promoted strength, fitness, and overall health to countless Americans over the last 13 years. As you may have heard, an individual is posting videos leveling outrageous charges against USPAincluding that the association condones things such as pedophilia, and sexual assault — claims which are, of course, FALSE. The social media videos are littered with falsehoods and exaggerations. They’re being published for their sensationalist nature to garner more hits. Unfortunately, it’s working, and some people are starting to believe the videos. I implore you to not. We are consulting with attorneys and evaluating our legal options at this time. Please reserve judgment. The words of an internet troll should not be taken as gospel. As you are aware through your membership, the USPA is one of the gold standards of the industry and has demonstrated over the last 13 years that it brings the joy of healthy competition to leading powerlifters in our industry and in addition, promotes strength, fitness and overall health to countless Americans. The USPA has promoted a sense of community and camaraderie among lifters, and has provided a platform for athletes to compete and showcase their abilities. We are proud of the community that we’ve built with you. Now, we are determined to not let this targeted attack on USPA negatively impact the thousands of coaches, meet directors, referees, and sponsors, who are committed to advancing the sport of powerlifting and promoting health and wellness today. I hope that you will remain just as committed with us as we look forward to getting back to the business of doing what we all love: Powerlifting. We appreciate your continued support, and consistent with our goal of complete transparency, I invite you to reach out to me should you have any questions whatsoever about this baseless attempt to tear down the USPA. I also invite you to visit @USPAfacts on Instagram now and in the coming days. The USPA is a strong organization, united in our mission and love for the sport of powerlifting. Sincerely, Steve Denison President United States Powerlifting Association
Looks like Hybrid, JP Price meets, and the Kern have been under both WRPF and USPA, how does that work? But yeah, they’re fucked.
They can do multiple Feds. Just have to be certified to ref in that fed. Otherwise the equipment is the same.
First lift in over 6 weeks today after suffering from gastritis since around the first of the year. Feel like a weak POS but damn it feels good to not just be sitting around anymore. I guess my positive spin is that this shit happens to make us appreciate being / feeling healthy enough to get in the gym.
Welp. Was warming up and leaned forward with 275 to rack the bar. And since I'm wearing knee sleeves it popped my calf. I'm praying it's only a week of misery. I wanted to go for a new max DL this week before I go away. Now that's fucked.
If I’m not mistaken, as of yesterday USPA has lost both meet directors that were running this years Nationals…
