He was quite good. Not surprising at all, his advanced stats last season had him in the 99th percentile for shot stopping

my favorite Erling Haaland nugget is that he won the Fifa U20 World Cup Golden Boot. And he only scored in 1 game.

[did not know where to put this, but was going down a youth soccer rabbit hole trying to find some semblance of an American striker in the pipeline]

So what’s the deal with ovaltine Cancelo? Asking for fantasy purposes bc since the WC break he has barely seen the field.

His minutes were lower than expected at WC also and just seems to be in poor form when he does play

Hopefully some benching and Pep laying into the squad yesterday gets him kicked into gear

Very strange loan, could maybe understand if hes trying to maintain form with a big international cup in the summer

there has to be some friction with Pep bc Cancelo rotation/minutes were not consistent since the restart

figured it was an undisclosed injury but clearly some falling out

Yeah Jack Gaughan is very reliable and says the relationship has deteriorated over minutes.

Saw another writer point out he has the most minutes of any defender and is only behind Rodri, KDB, Ederson, Haaland, and Gündogan for minutes

Clearly Pep lost some faith in him defensively and I think Peps been trying to tweak the system to fix the defensive breakdowns which has led to Cancelo on the bench for a good stretch. Sounds like Cancelo has not taken it well and has been a distraction in training

So Ake first choice LB going forward, right? Who spells him... Laporte and now Gomez?

    Good for Grealish.

Also my nephew whose a Chelsea fan btw which makes this funnier, decided it was a good time to call out Haaland for no showing big games about 5 minutes before his assist and goal. So Arsenal fans can blame him for the jinx

Good for Grealish hitting a weak shot straight to Ramsdale that got a stupid deflection

Congrats on win but Grealish being the hero is kinda hilarious, De Bruyne won that game

Grealish has had some good games and had no stats to show for it. Good for him for having one go in, all that was meant by it. He had a solid game too. KDB was great, Haaland had I think one of his best games at City doing other things beyond just scoring.

I had a feeling arsenal would blow the game today, they've been bad for over a month and Forrest needed the win. Crazy how quickly this race turned around. Never thought they'd have it in bag with 3 games still to play

Love the narrative btw that Arsenal players wore out completely ignoring all the fronts City compete on, and mega city have this huge squad so everyone is fresh

KDB has played more minutes this year than Odegaard.

Grealish has played more minutes than. Martinelli

Akanji and Dias more minutes than any of their defenders with Ake almost there with their top minutes guy and stones not far behind

Haaland by the end of the year will play more minutes than anyone there, even poor worn down Saka.

Rodri has played about 1000 more minutes than anyone on their squad

Oh I'm enjoying it. My two year old son is in a phase where he won't fall asleep without someone laying next to him so I just had way too much time to kill on my phone when I couldn't watch any videos with noise so ended up down a rabbit hole.

    Anyway, back to celebrating

Also not sure where your numbers are coming from but I don’t think you’re correct either.

I see Rodri at just under 4200 and Gabriel for them has about 4050 so not nearly 1000 less minutes and also significantly higher than Dias/Akanji

Ben White also also more than Dias

I feel like the Arsenal crowd here is pretty honest about their issues, they don’t have the depth that we do to withstand injuries.

Not talking numbers but just the quality of the backup that is coming in.

Outside of LB and DM, we have someone to rotate in that is fantastic. And DM is just because Phillips just isn’t it and we overpaid unless he has a massive turnaround

Whoscored has Gabriel at 3864 minutes and Akanji 3982. Rodri 4795. White 3373 to Dias 3857 Although it appears international minutes are counted in that. But still minutes they've played this calendar year

Like Kyle defending Phillips post match interview. Interviewer asks Phillips about wanting to play more, and Kyle comes in talking about how it's Phillips first title and will win more at city and put over how talented he is.

Wonder how Pep treats these next two games. On one hand resting guys and avoiding injuries would be ideal, but on other hand these guys have been on such a run I can see him not wanting wanting take his foot off the gas

neutral but I’d bet the farm it’s pedal to the metal. if city come out flat against a well organized Inter and struggle to break them down, it’ll be a bigger meme black mark on his record than electing not to play a 6 against Chelsea
