It's like Pelini and Farts were on a daily, passionate, divinely ordained mission to shoot themselves in the dick every single day. Riley was just old
Drew Ott is another kid Pelini completely fucked up recruiting. He got hurt in college, but if he was healthy could have had a solid career in the NFL.
I remember when Riley had Hank Hughes recruit Noah Fant as a DE and he said fuck that and went to Iowa
So realistically, how many of these transfers need to work out for Nebraska to have a good year next year? I know all of them is the preferred answer, but what are we really talking about? 65-75% of them?
Until we see the product on the field it’s reasonable to expect we’ll be poopy next year, given Rhule’s track record.
Maher was only at KHS a year but graduated from there. Kyle Larson was a Husk after Monte if my memory recalls correctly. We’re a kicker school tbh
If everything had played out in a straight line, Burrow would have been the OSU QB in 2019 and Fields never would have transferred to OSU.
I'd pretty much name all my custom NCAA Football '99 recruits after foods I happened to be eating. Ross Bugles was one I can remember
Coming in at max height and weight, Ima FatGuy was the first LT I ever made as a kid and stayed a recurrent member of every future dynasty in each new game purchased.
Rhule said he makes a lot of money so how is he supposed to say the players should make nothing. I enjoy listening to a coach who’s not a total oblivious hypocrite.
Compton asks how our 23 year old white WR coach can go recruit people that look like Julio Jones. Rhule says "I heard that a lot and to be honest you brought me here because you couldn't win football games so let me do it my way"
That’s a great quote. FWIW recruiting receivers doesn’t seem to be a problem a couple of months into Rhule’s tenure. TBD on development of the receivers and the o-line, those are both bigger factors
He also followed it up with a real response, that the WR coach is one of the best FB minds he knows, and that he will be lucky to keep him in that position for three years. Also said he could have stayed in the NFL but his loyalty to Rhule brought him to Nebraska. Idk... I'll trust Rhule until there's evidence not to. In regards to other assistant coaches he said that he got tired of hiring big name guys because they didn't work as hard at relating to players.
I don’t know if it’ll work out but dude says all the right things. It’s a breath of fresh air after Frost. I really really hope it works out because I like Rhule already and he seems competent. Super thoughtful. Even when he talks about being tough and running the football it doesn’t sound like typical meathead coach speak.
I love the attitude, but are we not in a position where like 10-20 scholarship players will have to be asked to leave at the end of spring due to being oversigned with incoming transfers? I haven’t seen the scholarship distribution chart recently, but I thought we were at 89 in late December without any of the January transfers/HS commits. Pretty sure the number also didn’t include Betts or Garcia-Castaneda.
Yea, we’re way over. I think this used to be a bigger issue before NIL/transfer portal. I’d hope Rhule wouldn’t just pull a scholarship to leave a guy stuck, I haven’t heard anything to suggest he would. Two options Rhule has are facilitating transfers to other programs/lower divisions, or having the NIL collective fund a walk on scholarship so the player can remain part of the team without paying tuition. I don’t like the walk on scholarship route in general because it creates a competitive disadvantage between programs, but there is no doubt that has/will occur.
