This call is both why Chip was available to take over as our play-by-play guy after Sciambi left following the 2009 season and why TBS let him go and he no longer calls playoff games. He is so bad at his craft.
He’ll run into a good HR call every now and then, but his relentless pursuit of trying to speak things into existence and the opposite actually happening will make you want to kill
Chip was so mad they banned the shift and took away his only talking point that he moved across the country
St. Louis is going to really get to know the word “belted” Can’t wait to hear him try and pronounce Nootbaar and then have some story about his grandad hanging out in a pub in the Netherlands singing about the Cubs without realizing he’s just an American kid from California.
It's almost like they should come to an agreement with some of the largest streaming cable providers and generate more income. Crazy idea
https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2023-zips-projections-atlanta-braves/ Our new baby boy has returned and the math loves him. Kolby SZN is in full effect.
Your baby boy is floundering in arbitration because you wouldn’t give up your third home in Vail. My baby boy is on his 3rd cycle of Accutane and hasn’t had an angry outburst in 5 days.
Baseball Hall of Fane voting has to be the stupidest thing ever. The smug sportswriters who make people wait their perceived allotted time is a joke. You are either a HOFer or aren’t. Andrew’s numbers are not changing, so why let him in two years from now but not now?
Good. Love seeing him happy but the faster hes out of Venezuela before he gets kidnapped or in a car wreck the better.
This is pure speculation but I bet Matt Olson loves Ronnie’s enthusiasm (unlike some other people we knew)
My biggest gripe about Chip had nothing to do with his missed calls. To me it felt like calling baseball was something he did as a job, and something he did because of who his father and grandfather were. I do not think Chip Caray has a passion for baseball. This was evident in how he called games. I'd listen to other broadcasters when given the chance, and they know all about their team's opponents, the players, and have an in-depth knowledge of the division their team was playing in. Sometimes, it felt like they knew more about the Braves than Chip did. I think this is because they are passionate about baseball, and Chip simply isn't. I don't care who comes after him, but would really appreciate it if they loved baseball so much that they'd do that job for free if necessary.
that and the fact that he sucks at his job and i watch like 130+ games that last 3+ hours that he’s working which is a ton of time to hear terrible announcing
It was a glorious day in Casa de Nug when I learned you can stream the radio audio through the MLB.tv broadcast
Exactly. If I'm spending 400 hours watching broadcasts, the least that can be done is to have a guy who actually sounds like he's happy to be there. There were days when it sounded like he was there out of obligation...which is one thing if you're announcing bottom feeder teams year in and out, but we've been in the pennant race the last 5 years. Makes no sense. Happy he's gone. There's been so many responses about how sad people are and I don't get it. I mean I suppose if that's all they know, but he was night and day from his dad who is firmly where all my early fond memories reside.
Sorry if it’s already been mentioned and I forgot about it, but would we have any interest in adding Profar? Seems like he would check a lot of helpful boxes and not cost too much.
I wonder if Liberty was aware that Bally was moving toward bankruptcy. That might explain some of the hesitation to spend more if they thought there was a serious question to the tv money coming in.
It seems hard to imagine a deal that isn’t better than what we currently have. Braves TV market is huge and hungry.
