circling back to the music you're excited for discussion, I forgot that Algiers has a release coming up next month and the singles so far have been fire
I have no idea what SiriusXM is and if that is a good thing or not. I am gathering probably not a good thing.
It’s satellite radio and a good thing. I’ve discovered some great music from it. I heard Gang of Youths on it and also found them on YouTube since they have played with Mumford and Sons.
the brooklyn steel concert on youtube was my go-to for non-spotify music and pitchfork hid it for some reason devastated
Phoebe pulled Waiting Room from Spotify last week randomly as well. Not sure what's up with all that. Looks like the livestream version of Brooklyn Steel is still up. May want to DL it if you can.
yeah, i had found that when looking for a reason why pitchfork pulled the video. it's nice that it's still accessible but tougher to seek for the specific song for just the boygenius portion.
Love this new Lizzy McAlpine song from some Apple TV show. She's up there with Phoebe as my current favorites of the singer songwritery ladies.
Goddamnit this sucks. How to Socialise and Make Friends is probably my favorite, most impactful album of the 2010’s.
Shalom - Soccer Mommy. Album out next month. “It’s called ‘Soccer Mommy’ because I got my driver’s license in late 2019 and spent my first year on the road listening to Color Theory and thinking about my 20-year-old self who didn’t deserve the things that happened to her. I love Soccer Mommy. I’m terrified of driving, but I always felt brave listening to ‘Circle The Drain’ on 287 south.”
Not a new song but saw The War on Drugs about a year ago and made a great drunk purchase of front by row seats.
Dry Cleaning is the best band in the world right now. Might not be a close second if electric guitar is your thing Her Hippo into New Long Leg into John Wick is such an absurd stretch Water Table into Gossamer into Mint is up there though. Cola wasn't on nearly enough end-of-year lists iyam
Just had them pop up a few times on my drive. The electric with the base lines are ridiculous. Love the drums as well.
I just realized that this woman who works for me as a programmer is an indie artist. I wish I had talent. I am fully stanning. I feel guilty that she has to work for us and she can't do this full time. Oh, and she also beat brain cancer and had surgery to have a the tumor removed 9 years ago.
This thread still into Strfkr? Checking them out again tonight. Not music wise, but I liken their show to a Flaming Lips show with the theatrics and overall experience.
Yeah I like them, and I agree with your assessment of their live show. Favorite album is still 2011’s Reptilians but I enjoy all their music generally
