So, we've got a bunch of dudes that can play on the field and are now slighted by the media. Gee, I wonder if the head coach will use that as a motivating factor.
This class lacked star power all along and makes up for much of that with depth, that was the case a month ago too. To suggest that there is a real difference in a player ranked 85 versus 115 is giving these guys way too much credit. I'm going to trust our evals at RB, OL, CB for sure. Bama wanted Schuler, and at WR we got 4 decently rated guys.
Sot should try to go kick a ball for a living rather than go work for a PE firm that's on a mission to pillage coal miners' pensions or optimize revenues from dying cancer patients or whatever, but that's just me
Instead do something noble like playing for the league that capitalizes on millions of low income/minorities destroying their brains as their talent pool
Yeah, that almost feels like a " hey man, you know what would really help your career? Seeing how others do it!".
it’s a lateral move, what will he learn there that he could not at nd? it’s his home so cool for him I guess
he’s going home, his family is there, his house is there Good for him, no reason to really question this move for him
I’m saying he was asked to move along, probably not true but he didn’t seem to be any kind of net add for us.
Think the expectation is for him to essentially serve as the LB coach since we don’t really have one. I assume he’ll have the actual title in 2024.
We don’t either but also won’t have a spot in 2024 most likely since that’s really freeman’s position. Good for him for landing home.
I could see that. And if he sees a better opportunity at osu like Pelican said then it makes even more sense. I like having these types guys around though.
Apparently I need a sarcasm font today. I don’t think he was launched, I do think the fight to keep him was probably pretty brief though.
yea it went: JL “my wife wants to go home to our massive brand new house we just built” Marcus “no problem”
I wish JL the best, may hurt a bit for 2024 LB recruiting, but for having like 3 LB savants on staff, they all sure sucked ass
Yeah we simply need to go back to having Disco Bob on staff as LB coach so we can have werewolves like Jarrett Grace again
Wicket I’m going to be in Amsterdam Wednesday night. Is there still a lot to do there during the winter? Or should I set my expectations to just get dinner somewhere and then spend most of the night at my hotel?
Wednesday you should still find stuff to do. I want to give you one big tip though, go for indonesian for dinner, not chinese/indonesian, as that is neither of those things but pure indonesian, its better than any dutch restaurant on such a budget. Where are you in adam?
ND bros. planning trip to SB for the Ohio State game, when would you expect tickets to start hitting the ticket sites?
so one of the allegedly (never ate there, dont get to downtown amsterdam that often) is truly around the corner, called "Kantjil & de Tijger". You are also right around the corner of Cafe Hoppe, which should be busy and is one of the most famous bars in Amsterdam, operational since 1670 apparently. It is a place to go if you have nice company with you though, its that type of bar
Where are you coming from? A lot of people stay in Chicago and come in the next day. There’s a train that can get you to the airport in two hours and you can grab an Uber to campus. Other options are slightly east in Elkhart and Goshen. Hotels in SB are pricey. There’s a casino building a hotel that should be ready by football so that should open up. Once it gets close I’ll reach out. We have a prime tailgate spot in the main lot and all are welcome.
Michigan fan, so not sure yet what my plan will be. Coming with my two brothers and my Pops - all huge OSU fans. I will probably grab a ND shirt to have fun with them. Staying in Elkhart. House booked. Big reason for the trip is obviously the game but the pregame and campus. Hoping for a night game.
I’ll be shocked if it’s not a night game. We generally do two a season, and those are locks to be Osu and usc. If you’re staying in Elkhart, I’d check out iechyd da brewery. Grab a pint and pizza. Westwind brewery is also in that area and they have some quality beers (not sure on food). Do your have a parking pass or thoughts on tailgating? Those are much harder to get than tickets, so I’d check on those. Look for Joyce or stadium lot for the biggest tailgate lots. Tickets are unique for this one, I’d guess. Normally, we recommend waiting till closer to game day and grabbing them for cheap. Don’t think prices will drop significantly for this one, especially if both teams take care if business early on. Season tickets go on sale in May, in hand by August. Single game (which I’d guess Osu is not available) go on sale in the summer, but again, wouldn’t anticipate a whole lot being available then. Stubhub is the official secondary marketplace, so I’m generally listing tickets only there. But tickets will be available on all secondary marketplaces and I’d recommend deciding what you’re willing to spend as a group and buying them when you can. Again, that’s opposite what we normally suggest, but this will be closer to uga, Texas than a normal big time game Also, if you don’t feel like paying for a parking pass, there is plenty of parking in neighborhoods south of campus. Park there, walk to the tailgate lots and you’ll find plenty of tailgates you can stop by on your way to check out campus. People are generally very nice and will offer you a beer and some food if you’re cool.
My one strong recommendation is echoed here depending on the health of your party park a good distance south eastish. Go early and stop at the linebacker and then go over to eddy’s street before heading to the tailgates. You may actually be able to get out before 2 am if you park far enough away
Grew up in the 90s, NW Ohio Big fan of Fab 5, Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson (from near my hometown). Very common for that area. Brothers went to OSU, I did not. The shit talk is incredible. My brother blocked me via text for a short period after last years Michigan win over OSU.
So, in my experience how this plays out. You will feel it in your gut, but if you are of the mind that you enjoy the suffering of your rival at a personal level, then you will root for ND. If value the happiness of loved ones above football rivalry implications, then you will root for OSU. Full disclosure, if I were in your position I would root for ND. And not because I am an actual ND fan, but because I am an asshole hater of a sports fan that I not only want my teams to do well - I want them to be successful in relative terms to those I interact with.
I guess I was never aware of the Hendon Hooker/ND connection https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/Recruiting-what-ifs-that-shaped-the-2022-season-203858203/
