Our 4 year old gets TV coins that he can cash in to piggy bank. He gets coins throughout the day for doing chores, helping at the grocery store and such. Each coin is worth 10 minutes. I also give him some kind of visual timer (sand timers ect) so he has some knowledge of time left. He usually picks Mario Cart on the switch.
"daddy daddy Daddy DADDY DADDY DADDY DAAAAADDY" My god child, what??? "What r u doing" I've had this conversation 48 times today
Nothing so exciting. Here you’re only allowed to have one non family member in the car at one time, and he had four. But that wasn’t the thing that got him in trouble, going 52 in a 25 residential neighborhood next to us did. So the extra people was a tack on to the speed. He’s lucky it was us and not the cops that caught him because I think that would have been at least three points which would have lost his license
Nah. We have had Life360 since he was like 12 and was running all over town. I actually just checked it to see where he was going with the other people in the car and saw the speed. We don’t have it where it stores the driving data just real time.
Huge moment as 6 year old took medicine (just Motrin) without me having to hide it in Gatorade which we’ve been doing since he was like 3. Earned him a pack of Pokémon cards since I have a couple stashed for bribing. he was terrified of medicine but I guess one piece of advice is to talk to kids about medicine when they’re healthy just so it isn’t sprung on them suddenly. He was scared tonight but I took it too and that helped.
Yeah…2 weeks each of normal day camp and 2 weeks each of fancy bus the boys up into the country to do bow and arrows, canoeing, etc day camp.
just came to post the same.... 3.2k dropped today for 6 weeks of day camp. 1 kid. will be 2.4k for care for my younger kid during the same window.
I really liked Goddard, and was excited for little Butch’s future there (maybe she still will), but I’m glad we decided to take her out. We were there less than a year and they raised the prices, just heard they raised their prices another 4%. Two price increases in one year. She’s < 1, so it didn’t make sense to pay that much. When she’s a toddler, and is learning and doing activities, maybe.
Our daycare‘s website literally has a page about how the founders are venture capitalists. There’s a wait list and they know it and act like it. I’ve lost track of price increases but other area daycares have waitlists and it’s not worth the hassle. So they win.
3 y/o just came up with the Transformers x Paw Patrol crossover event of the century. Feels like a trillion dollar franchise. Spoiler
Because wages have been depressed for decades forcing households to need two wage earners so kids have to go to daycare which further increases the need for two incomes. It’s great!
so anyone have any experience with broken elbows on a 4 year old? ours apparently broke his over the weekend on a trampoline. thought maybe he had just sprained it and went to our pediatrician yesterday and based on his mobility they didnt think it was broken but got an xray to be safe and turns out it is. say its non-displaced, so not as bad as it could be but going to orthopedist today to see if he needs cast or what next steps are. oh and they also determined he has strep for about the third time in four months. things are not great!
not my kid, but my kid's best friend broke his elbow this summer and he's 6 years old. They were jumping off the top of the playground structure (6 feet up), and he landed on it. they put a cast on it for a few weeks and then he injured it again immediately again after taking the cast off, and they had to put another one on.
yea this is the kid that routinely launches himself off of the couch, but also turns into frankensteins monster anytime a coat or shirt doesnt fit right so the thought of a cast is also a nightmare his older sister just got hers out in december. I guess I will easily make my deductible this year
so, cast for 4 weeks, check up in a week to make sure no additional movement of the bone. shouldnt have to do any surgery. taking it well so far and already wants to draw on it and have people at school sign it. so could be worse!
My daughter turned 6 months on Monday. You really dont know what youre missing in life until you have a child. How fast time goes now too.
Damn I forgot how much newborns suck. At hospital shed sleep for 2.5-3 hrs between feedings in the bassinet. At home 10 mins tops and wants to be on the chest the whole time.
Pre-baby I was never sick. she’s about to be one, and I’ve probably been really sick 5 times since she was born.
No lie. I was actually looking through old pictures on my phone for something last night and that’s close to 4 years now
Spent first few days of this week trying to sign up our son for at least three weeks of summer camp. Some camps already sold out. Feel like we start earlier and earlier every year.
People get on daycare wait lists prior to getting pregnant in our area. Dog boarder had a wait list for spring break when I called in October to try and reserve boarding for Thanksgiving last year.
Yup. Currently dealing with some post-nasal drip burning my throat. Same shit running out of my son's nose & him coughing
Throat is on fire, cough, congested. yesterday my head was pounding and my body ached. At least those are gone today.
That was me a couple weeks ago. Power went out due to a big storm right before the camp opened. By the time my power cut back on, all camps were sold out. Brutal
Kid lost first tooth. Really proud he let me wiggle it out because he was really terrified of the whole losing a tooth thing. I feel like it’s something you’re supposed to keep but what do I do with lost teeth.
When did t-ball evolve to coach pitch hybrid? Team my son is on has kids 4-7 on it. Each at bat is coach pitch from a short distance for first two strikes and then they get the T for the final strike. I had no idea until they did it in a scrimmage. First game Saturday.
