cheetahs are exotic but have been pets throughout history. i believe charlamagne and genghis khan had pet cheetahs. they're docile, small (much smaller than other "big cats" and closer to domestic cats genetically), and don't see humans as prey. lions are, uh, not pets. zookeepers don't even get near lions. it's idiotic to be around one and it's super very extremely dumb to own one.
Isn't illegal to own a lion and a cheetah in California? Are there precautions you have to take transporting them? Do you just put a leash on and walk them to the car?
Apparently it is unless you get a special permit that google tells me is nearly impossible to get....so either illegal or "Saudi Friends" bribed enough folks or rich enough to no care.
Same. From what I've gathered, these aren't exactly our members' pets, but they watch them for their Saudi friends from time-to-time. I think? Big cats should not be kept as pets. A lion shouldn't have to lay in a living room, even if quasi-domesticated and unable to adapt to life in the wild. It's only a minor step up from zoos, which I also abhor. There are rehab centers and professionals that specialize in that type of thing. Not bashing our WeHo posters, I do enjoy their shenanigans. I have no doubt the intentions are good. What do these animals do with your crazy hours/working the nightlife scene? They're still nocturnal, correct?
This. It takes generations to domesticate a species. The idea that an animal can be domesticated because it's been around a human since they were young is bullshit.
probably not entirely true, but I just don't like seeing any wild animals in cages. You're probably right, at least in a zoo they can run a bit. I'm also assuming - hoping? - these cats get to run outdoors sometimes.
Zoos are depressing as shit to go to as an adult. I remember loving them as a kid but then I went to one with my kids and they might as well be playing that Sarah McLaughlin song on the PA.
agreed for the most part, but zoos play a much larger role in species survival and reproduction than they used to. still depressing to see animals in enclosures though.
I was always that way as well with zoos. We go to the Houston zoo all the time because our kid loves it. It isn’t that bad because the zoo is really nice and the animals all have nice habitats.
Another reason I don’t mind the Houston zoo as well because they actually do lots of research and reproductive stuff to help the species.
most of the animals in zoos are actually better off nowadays because their natural habitats are pretty fucked or they’re becoming extinct which is even more sad
Thread reminds me of an excellent tangent turned thread: which of the following wild animals could you beat up? Handful of posters convinced they could take a crocodile, even more convinced they couldn’t manhandle an owl.
MLS which of your friends has hooked up with Duff? Yes, I could just walk 30 feet and ask you this but I want you on the record here.
Obviously you're aware of the one, the other refused to say if they ended up doing anything but he definitely went home with her
I have yet to meet a girl that's hooked up with her so I'm not going to say I'm a pioneer spearheading groundbreaking market disruption, but if others want to say that they can do so
They have massive compounds in Malibu, London, Riyadh, Cannes, Gold Coast They absolutely purr so that big cat propaganda is just flat out false They get to run as much as they want and they have a private chef Look, me and Ethan are both alive still
If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a lion who gets to fly private, while I'm stuck on the Greyhound bus.
