The number of creepy old non Asian guys with young Thai chicks at hua hin is pretty remarkable. One or two here and there certainly I get, but you could make a compilation.
On the plane coming back to the States, internet been in and out. But good lord Bibi tried to give that match away. Serving for it at 6-0 5-2 and gets broken. Then missed 3 break match points and gets broken again. Wins the tiebreaker.
I missed yesterday and just checked the score. Looks like she had either some sort of injury or just completely melted down. Parks faces Caroline today in Lyon. Good run for her and great test in that final as well.
Diana Shnaider chose to play at NC State instead of going pro, and got cleared on Friday. Made her debut yesterday against OU, playing #1 singles — won 6-4, 6-0. Also played at #1 doubles and they won 6-2.
She won against Garcia? Man, some of these supposed Top 10 players aren't anywhere near as good as their ranking suggests. I'm sure Parks will become a very good player, but Garcia should be winning that comfortably if she's legit.
She's got a few friends in the Top 10, though: Garcia Pegula Kasatkina Sakkari Bencic Even Gauff. All of them have a lot of work to do to win a slam.
Been there multiple times. Dubai and Abu Dhabi have a lot of "citizens" but those are basically tourists towns. And no tourists are going to the tennis tournaments. Doha might have a better crowd.
Really happy to see Sebi get back in the win column. Rapid ascent last year from clay and then couldn’t get a win. He wasn’t ready for the big tour hard court tournaments but just had a couple big clay performances so he had to go. Same goes with Cerundolo
Have they talked about a time limit on toilet breaks officially yet? Davidoch Fokina head was all over the place and double faults to give the 1st set away against Halys. Then does a toilet break that had to be 7-10 minutes long. Just happy Halys held serve to open the 2nd set
I think Zheng is my favorite young lady to watch at this point. She needs to add a few things but definitely feel with some time she’ll be right there with Sabalenka and Rybakina in terms of game.
I am a big fan of Arthur Fils game, I am very scared that this is catapult him into a full ATP schedule instead of continuing on the Challenger tour for the next couple months.
Not at all. Big fan of his from betting Challengers last year and watching his game. I posted the other day, Im just scared he jumps into the ATP level too soon after this performance. Think he shouled play Marseille 250 in a couple weeks and then stay in Europe for Challengers during March. Then decide to play ATP Clay tournaments or not. He was pretty good on the Challenger Clay tournaments for a 17/18 year old last year
This second set supporting your notion. Over-hitting, rushing, letting it get away from him. Still more seasoning to be done before he goes abroad at tour level.
I looked it up, he only jumps into the Top 120 so if he did, he would have to go through qualifiers a lot which could be a detriment to his game. If he had won the tourney, it would have been Top 90 and that is the cusp of jumping to the tour level. Another good performance at a local 250 in Marseille and then looking at the Challenger schedule. Could go 2/27 week - France (125) Indoor Hard, Switzerland (75) Indoor Hard, Week off, France (75) Indoor Hard, France (100) Indoor Hard or Italy (125) Outdoor Clay. After that make the decision on what to do
Also Bencic is having a VERY VERY good 2023 so far. United Cup - 1-1 Beating Putintseva losing to Swiatek Adelaide - Won Tournament. Beating Mugu, Kalinskaya, Garcia, Kasatkia Australian Open - 3-1. Beating Tomova, Liu, Giorgi before losing to Sabalenka Abu Dhabi so far beating Kostyuk and Shelby
I'm just going to bite my lip on that one. Not having a great afternoon so I'm liable to post something I'll regret.
