Dana has even said in recent years that he doesn't run an air raid offense anymore, just an FYI because I saw a lot on the Miami 247 board with guys being excited about an air raid offense coming to Miami.
Maybe. Then again Houston put up 60+ points in a single game. We almost didn’t get there in half our season.
4000 yards 40tds and 10ints Lol if that’s being wasted I’ll fucking take it Dell had 1400 yards 17 touchdowns….17!!
He did but there was a huge shift in first half season Tune with Dawson calling plays versus second half when Dana took back over
I’m just saying as someone that’s watched more Shannon Dawson called offenses compared to anyone else on the board, he called some of the most conservative and bland play calling. Stats don’t tell the whole picture, Tune’s season flipped after the halftime in the Memphis game when Dana basically said fuck our game plan and let’s throw it. This team had to do a complete 180 in offensive philosophy after starting 3-3. Every game started slow, scoring disappeared in large stretches, and looking below average even with Tune and Dell. Hopefully he can get something to flip but I doubt it and I’m not sad to see him leave Houston.
first three losses were to Texas Tech, Tulane, and Kansas. All with winning records at the end of the season. Two of those games went to OT. Tulane went to a NY6 game. you’re acting like you lost to middle Tennessee and scored 17 points. Defense cost you games - not your offense.
This seems eerily reminiscent of the Oregon fans that whine that Mario ‘ruined’ a QB that went 6th overall in the draft
UTSA game - 7 points going into the 4th quarter. Tech - 10 points going into the 4th quarter. Tulane - 7 points going into the 4th. Memphis - 7 points going into the 4th. All awful offensive schemes, bad play calling, not utilizing Dell nearly enough for as dominate. Just saying as someone that's watched every UH game, which nobody else can say they actually did, that this past season was "salvaged" because Dana took play calling away from Dawson after the half of the Memphis game. And I use salvaged sparingly because we want 8-5. Just look at the splits when Dana took play calling back over in October.
I'll dip out, got nothing against Miami and no need for me to clutter your thread. Just trying to provide some insight on Dawson outside of some of the sugar coating that always goes around when a new hire happens.
So if the points were scored all in the first vs the 4th, it would be ok? l get what you’re saying but dude, we averaged 19 ppg against p5 teams. Let me have hope my guy
Only thing making me not 100% hate this hire is SouthParkCane vouching for him. considering he was a coach under Dana at UH and has ties to Houston HS football and says everyone there that matters loves him. Guy has kept it 100 on a lot of things including being negative about things fans didn’t want to hear or accept about coaches, players, or recruits before they happened. Hopefully he’s right about Dawson as well.
I’m assuming Chaney was driving like a typical dumb college kid, but yeesh the kid can’t catch a break
Two innings into the season and I already want this entire staff fired again How do they pick a terrible Friday starter every year
Had to have been the longest last 3 minutes in college basketball history Felt like there were 20 reviews
Don't even think it was the longest of the night. The Tennessee-Texas A&M game, which I started watching after our game was done, was absurd.
