The city is monitoring our water, not the state. With the USEPA water research facility here, working in partnership with the city to use our water system as a testing lab, we have better water quality testing equipment and personnel here than just about anywhere else. If something is in the water, we’re going to know it here. A lot of upstream communities may not.
Maybe this contaminated water will give their high school football programs players with super powers.
They’re probably bottling it from Cincinnati municipal water, slapping a private label on it, and charging $.50 a bottle profit.
They bottle Distilla water behind my office next to the 40’ tall high mountain of mulch that smells like the inside of Gunner’s gym shorts in August every summer.
Reminds me of the Bill Murray Lake Erie Water SNL sketch from the 1970’s after the river caught fire in Cleveland.
The GOAT SW Ohio water is out in the suburbs of Cincinnati and Dayton which pulls from the Miami Valley aquifer. It was the water I grew up on and was always finishing near the top of some sort of tap water tasting competition
I have friends that live in Louisville area. One is in a group text that we all message in daily. He was saying this morning actually that he read the drinking water in Louisville has supposedly tested positive for contaminants, and water all the way in West Virginia has tested positive as well. Not sure if it’s accurate. Just saw that from someone that lives up there.
The river itself is fairly dirty so that wouldn't surprise me if it already has that and it was a clickbait article
I texted him after I posted that to find out. He said “read” this morning in the text exchange. So I assumed something legitimate. But he just got back to me and then sent me an IG post from a Bellarmine student. Never heard of Eden Reports and have no idea if the WV governor said that or not. But yeah, I assumed it was a news article, and it ended up just being a social media post.
Yeah he got a few of them all stressed out this morning cuz of that and worrying that the storms up there were going to rain down poison all over their tri-state area.
Here is a video you can watch without see JD hot take. I'm assuming he had a hot take, but I didn't watch that pos
If only a US Senator had the avenues available to him to encourage legislation that forces these companies to be responsible for clean up as well write more stringent rules for corporations! dukebuckeye you are one dumb cunt
Hopefully that is something that can be remediated much sooner than later, but I highly doubt it. It’s not the exact same, but the creeks and river near my hometown still have a “do not eat” restriction on all fish caught because of the toxic levels in the fish due to Monsanto producing PCBs there for decades and dumping its waste directly into the creeks and soil without any filtration. It’s been 46 years since they stopped making PCBs. Hopefully Norfolk Southern is forced to do more for remediation than Monsanto was.
Wonder how many rivers in the south don't have a warning. I lived on the lake when I was at Clemson and our part had a not eating advisory because of PCBs from an old textile plant. Pretty sure every other river in SC had mercury warnings
It really is disgusting what we let corporations get away with. In 1966, Monsanto hired a biology professor from Miss State to test the effect of their 30+ years of dumping waste into the neighboring creek. All 25 bluegill fish the guy put in the water lost equilibrium and floated to the top within a minute and all were dead within 3 1/2 minutes, with their skin sloughing off. He described it as if it were like dunking them in battery acid. 3 years later, Monsanto at its peak was dumping 250 lbs of waste per day directly into the creek and more into waste-fills on their property. They continued doing this at high levels until the federal ban on PCBs production in 1977. I imagine discovery in the upcoming lawsuits will prove similarly how much of the risk NS knew about and recklessly disregarded. No amount of settlement money in lawsuits is enough against these assholes.
