You’re right, it’s more for boomers but the field reporters are good. And instead of a promo for the Slick Lure you get Matrix Shad talk.
lol at the Matrix Shad and Slick Lure talk you are so right. I just bought some Slick Lures today . I figure they won't catch me any more fish than Matrix Shad.
Yeah, I saw that pop up on my feed. The Chattooga TU board asked me to join, so I'll probably be put in charge of anything electronic for them. So that may be me getting hacked soon.
I'm trying to decide if insulated bibs would be too damn warm and I'm sweating my ass off even when it's cold out. Anyone ever fished in insulated bibs? https://aftco.com/products/hydronau...ota4NmKS5W8WvtKITZz6PLyXj5z3YvGUaAuVpEALw_wcB
they’re too warm imo. I made that mistake and had to return. The regular bibs get stuffy when the sun comes out and starts warming things up
Yeah I just layer shit. Went out on mlk day it was below freezing. compression pants, sweatpants, rain bibs. Thermal, two jackets and rain jacket. Both jackets were off 30 minutes into fishing.
Thoughts on deck boots? Xtratuff and Huk seem popular. I’ve always worn bean boots in the winter on the boat. And barefoot when it is warm. Anyone love their deck boots and why?
I just bought a pair of xtratuffs. I only wear them when it’s cold. They were like 60 percent off at west Marine. I usually pair mine with thin neoprene socks. I’m not standing in my feet though
Got a new toy using an ice flasher for vertical jigging. One liked the stop and wiggle and got hooked. The other didn't and went back down.
Went with my dad today, ended up with about a dozen but... Pops with the biggest bass either of us have ever seen. Just shy of 10lbs. 22inches.
Finally upgraded my setup today, got a 9’ 5wt sage foundation rod, lamson liquid reel and scientific angler line. Looking forward to chasing a few more Missouri trout.
Ordered a Power Pole II , 8 ft shallow water anchor. Also ordered a freaking $250 bracket that mounts it to my jack plate. $2k all in. $400 to install it. They are pretty much mandatory for inshore fishing. Really you need 2 or else your boat will rotate around in the current even when this anchor is deployed. I just don't feel like spending $5k on this shit. I have trolling motor with gps spot lock which is pretty good for shallow water fishing but it can be noisy, kick up mud, moves you around a bit before getting locked in, and will spook fish. On my last boat that I sold, I didn't feel like I got my money back on all the extras that I put into it. Maybe it was because it was an older boat. I'm not sure how much people take into account how much these add ons cost when they make an offer on your boat. But now I've got like $7,500 in add ons. If you're even a half serious fisherman you need a gps trolling motor and a powerpole. That's $7,5000 worth of stuff right there. Then you get into the electronics, speakers, radar, etc and you can throw in another $5k easy.
Power Pole has the best customer service in the entire world. If anything happens you’ll be good. And your boat will sell faster with those additions. Gonna be a great looking boat.
Lots of these guys around last few weeks. I waded this big negative tide this morning and they were hungry
Whereabouts? We fished the Mosquito Lagoon near Edgewater yesterday and conditions looked perfect, but not much life
Also, if any of you kayak fish near central FL and need someone to go with let me know. I imagine I’ll be going a good bit and I have a friend that wants to start jigging/trolling for gag grouper out of Crystal River. I know Pharm fishes from his kayak, but not sure where at.
Let me know if you ever want to go. Just watched a video of a guy hammering flounder after launching from Alimacani Park. I have a family friend with a fish camp out of Steinhatchee that keeps inviting me to go and I really need to take him up on that ASAP. Inshore fishing looks so much better there.
Tampa. Mosquito lagoon has pretty much collapsed as a fishery. Tampa bay is teetering, but nowhere near as bad as ML
One of the guys I fish with goes over there a lot. I’ve never and want to get more comfortable on my kayak before I start exploring. The water quality in your pic looks fantastic.
I’m game. Definitely want to try landing snapper or grouper from the yak. I’ve got the reds pretty dialed in over here. Want to target snook but gotta travel for it
50s today and tomorrow got me feeling some type of way Ooh wind chills 35 below Thursday morning, nvm
Mosquito Lagoon a week ago. It is a shell of what it used to be. But there was new grass before the last hurricane. Mostly damaged by fertilizer, septic tanks and over fishing. It still can be great sometimes.
I'd been using an old beat up Clearwater reel for my 3 wt. My dad wanted to get me a better reel for my birthday, so we found a mint condition Orvis BBS (Battenkill Barstock).
