Just checking in to say I started DTS season 1 on Thursday and finished season 5 Saturday night in time to watch my first grand prix today. I now know everything there is to know about F1 and am all in.

nope, just a total engine failure. a bigger issue is Max is nearly a second quicker per lap on race pace. Ferrari won’t have an answer for that this season. Max is going to clinch this thing before the summer break.
i just want everyone to go out and have a great, safe time! hard to say at this point honestly -- i find cheering for a corporation that isn't masked by a city name and cute mascot quite odd still. that said, i've loved mclarens ever since i played NFS2 as a kid and was rooting for them throughout the series. but man they're utter shit now it appears.

Horner isn’t dumb. He wouldn’t pay Danny ric any money if there isn’t a chance he ends up driving for them. My guess Horner thinks he can rehab Danny and also put pressure on Perez. He’s doing sim drives for them so they will figure out if he can still perform or not. As much as some of you like shitting on Ricciardo, When he had a good car at RB and Alpine he was very competitive. The mclaren car didn’t work for him and is clearly still not a good car for lando or piastri. I think Ricciardo just retires because he enjoys life away from f1.
I'm honestly not sure what from my post it's supposed to be a counter to. I'll just say that if Merc is willing to get rid of a clear #2 for another top (highly touted at least) driver then there's no good reason to think RB wouldn't do the same. Obviously circumstances differ from team to team, but the constant is that they're going to do what they think they have to to stay on top. Ferrari/Merc cars catch up, a top driver comes available, Max asks for too much money - there are reasonable circumstances that could see them want to add another top driver instead of keeping a clear #2. I don't think it's some set in stone thing that there's no realistic way they would add an equal for Max or that they wouldn't want to.
I agree with your overall point, but I think one major difference that hurts your comparison to Merc/Bottas is that it's clear Mercedes needs an heir apparent to Lewis, so continuing to give a seat to Bottas would have been imperiling their future. RB has no such problem with Max, so the calculus is quite a bit different regarding their #2 seat. But they've been ruthless in the past, and Horner and Max both seem to enjoy giving Checo shit, so I won't be surprised if they move on before they should
I believe George would’ve been able to leave the Merc program in ‘22. The team couldn’t wait any longer. Poor guy was in that Williams for too long.
This is actually what I was about to mention in my response to you TAS . It's admittedly complete speculation on my part, but I just have a hard time believing had George not been signed by Merc that RB wouldn't have tried to get him (Marko said he'd consider it but that they wouldn't have the chance) and bring him in not as a #2. So that colors my view on thinking how they might handle the chance to sign someone like Lando.
I don't mean someone literally as good as him, I mean someone that's not brought in specifically to be the #2/team orders driver like Perez and Bottas.
I do find it funny that this conversation is happening bc Checo was 11 seconds off Max while completely ignoring he had a 27 second gap back to 3rd place. Not the best day to be making this argument imo.
I don't think a driver exists that would be brought it as an equal. Max is a tier above everyone on the grid. Anyone that drives the other RB car is going to be a clear #2.
No he isn’t… the car clearly is head and shoulders above all. But I would out two or three drivers on the same level as Max. He’s a S tier driver no question but he’s not the only one.
At this point in F1, he is. Both things (best driver & best car) can be true and are. Continuing to say things like Charles is on the same level just discredits your awareness.
That wasn’t what the statement was… he’s not in a tier to himself. If you want to rank him #1 I wouldn’t argue that. But he’s not alone in his grouping.
Just my thoughts but Tier 1 racers are max and lewis. Tier 2 gets more crowded and harder to rank. Charles lando russel fernando Sainz checo. Tier 3 is bottas albon Ocon Gasly. Tier 4 Yuki and rookies. No idea where to put the haas guys.
