It’s funny how well respected art historians still think Leonardo painted this. Probably because they’ve rendered their entire field a but of a joke by falling for this scheme.
Whenever I hit one of the main links on this site it opens the PGA Tour app on my phone and starts playing a Jay Monahan press conference. It's infuriating. I need to uninstall the app for this site to work properly. And when I reinstall the app, the glitch keeps happening. In other news, the PGA Tour app is a piece of shit.
Have you seen ads for Masterworks on any social media? The art market is attempting to steal poor peoples money now. You supposedly by shares in an old painting (that the company probably doesn’t even own or are just made up). The thing I admire about the scammers here is no bullshit promise about planting a tree.
They were aggressively advertising on podcasts for awhile. Did you know rare art returns *insert insane made up percentage* more than the S&P 500?
In recently purchased thread a few months back I showed I got a pig. Little dude is a delight but this picture my wife sent me the other day had me rolling.
The stakeholders don't even a right to know the location of the art. There's a certain minimum period you must keep your stake. You don't have a say on when, who and for how much the work gets sold for. Sure sounds like ownership to me. Whenever a podcast I like does a BetterHelp, The Scottish nobility nonsense or Masterworks ads, a part of me dies. BetterHelp seems like the most concerning of the bunch.
It's absolutely insane to me so many companies can do this type of thing and I guess nothing can be done about it to clean it up
Do you call assisting in the rise of Fallout Boy and Panic at the Disco okay? Bart, Milhouse and Martin inadvertently brought about the Emo aesthetic of the late 00's. Not okay.
They'll plant you a tree (and are lying about that too) I think they say they'll plant it in the Scottish Highlands which is one of the last places on the planet that need trees at the moment.
I thought the Scottish nobility one was where you could allegedly by some micro square footage of land like a square foot or something and then you will officially be granted the title of "Lord" because you own land there...or something along those lines
It’s a tech startup matches patients with therapists (who may or may not be legit) If a patient goes in with good faith and tells the therapist or the company extremely personal information, terrible things will happen. Maybe the founder has a genuine want to help people with their mental health, I haven’t a clue. But the path to hell can be paved with good intentions.
It is that. I figured people just assumed it was bullshit and got them as gag gifts. Apparently not. Scotland didn’t have an official nobility bullshit thing going on until it was absorbed into Great Britain. They use the term Laird which just means Lord or landowner. I’ve always been fascinated with aristocratic esoterica. It’s all so silly.
Neither Burns nor Grandpa Simpson got to keep the artwork they seized which was stolen by the Nazis though, regardless of who survived the tontine.
it reminds me a little of paying the hundred bucks to get a the naming rights to a star that you'll never locate in the night sky...if it even exists in the first place
Why not a 1/148 share in a Dutch landscape painting from from the 17th century that may or may not exist at all? The swampy lands of The Netherlands can sometimes be below sea level but you’ll soar to the moon if you take advantage of my limited time offer that expires in 12 minutes
if the results of every championship game/series was reversed in every sport, who are the GOATs? Jim Kelly would have to be on the list for winning 4 straight Super Bowls Jerry West would be up there Jordan would've gone 0-6 hell Bill Russell would have lost 11 title series
South Carolina...1 time SEC Football champion. Ahhh I just came. The Miracle on Ice still would have happened but Finland would won the gold. And I just tried all the alternate timelines, and there isn't a single one where TCU gets within 30 points of Georiga.
I can see why as a Michigan fan you’re not stoked on the conference championship game because of how badly they botched the divisions from the offset. I’d be annoyed too after beating my fierce rival having to go play a Purdue or Iowa who is maybe 4th or 5th best in the conference all in the hopes disaster doesn’t strike and you’re out of the playoff.
well, I wasn't thinking specifically about that but you get really into the weeds if your starting to count who would even be there in the first place I created a new thread for this topic
I had to turn off "open links in app" on my browser so that TMB wouldn't automatically open the PGA Tour app.
Me too. Just for nostalgia sake, why don’t you recap it so we can relive the details we all definitely know.
