True, I could, but then that is time in my life I'll never get back. I love my Dad and enjoy spending time with him despite our differing opinions. So even if I spend that time rolling my eyes at him it is still time well spent.
ahh yea there it is- "BAHGAWD THESE TAXES ARE GOING TO KILL BUSINESS AND SEND COMPANIES TO OTHER COUNTRIES"
Is there any money going to public education, birth control or support for the economically disadvantaged?
Yes. Absolutely. Do you really believe this new narrative that some partisan divers off a fucking sailboat dove down hundreds of feet with enough explosives to crack a concrete casing and blow this pipeline? After the US, including Biden, had said for years that the US would shut this pipeline down?
I read it, and it struck me as flailing around trying to give plausible deniability to Zelensky given the investigative findings. I can buy that the Ukrainians blew up the pipeline. I can buy that the United States did it, although I think that’s more founded in conspiracy theories espoused by people who think the CIA is behind everything that happens everywhere, a world view I don’t ascribe to. More plausible if your definition here is US providing logistical support to Ukrainians carrying out the actual bombing, but that’s not framing the Ukrainians. I have a really hard time believing that the United States did it and left breadcrumbs that would point towards Ukraine as the culprit. I guess the premise there is that the US would do it but would make it look like the Ukrainians did it so that when it gets leaked the US can say it’s the Russians trying to frame the Ukrainians? But then the US leaked intelligence pointing to the Ukrainians? As opposed to just framing the Russians in the first instance?
too meta gaming the US repeatedly said there'd be no Nord stream 2 if Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia invaded Ukraine. Nord stream 2 blown up. evidence points to "pro-Ukrainian" people and other reports point to them at a minimum being trained by US naval teams if not supplied and/or actually participating. the logic of russia doing it never made sense
Ok (although folks, I think that’s giving way too much mileage to an offhand Joe Biden remark) but that’s not framing the Ukrainians by dropping Ukrainian passports, which was the stupid premise I was replying to
yeah i'm not really interested in the propaganda machinations, but the logic of framing a "rogue pro-ukrainian outfit" at least makes sense of who would reasonably have incentive to do it
No one would believe the Russians did it? That seems directly contradicted by the record. This logic seems to assume some weird level of capability by which the US can eliminate proof of its involvement such that framing would work, felt the need to finger someone else anyway, and landed on Ukraine because it couldn’t figure out a way to credibly frame Russia.
Pretty sure this is why Zelensky fired his Secretary of Defense (or whatever). Not necessarily that he did it, but that he got caught. No idea if Zelensky and/or Biden knew about it / approved the action.
I think american mainstream media treats PR releases about foreign policy as truthful when you shouldn't. No serious thinker seemed convinced that Russia did it, because again, it made no sense which I'm sure people will swing with the PUTIN ACTIN IRRATIONAL? WHY I NEVER? thing but still don't buy it.
Whatever happened with that pipeline, I'd bet a dollar the US knew about it and at the very least gave it the green light. It was obviously done in a way that can't be verified as to who was responsible.
As an American I can confidently say I had NOTHING to do with the pipeline explosions. I also can confidently say no American I know was involved WHATSOEVER. Please take your baseless accusations elsewhere
My “Not involved with the destruction of the Nordstream pipeline” is raising a lot of questions already answered by my shirt
I mean, they could have as far as I know. I don’t pay too much attention to the right wing Europeans. It’s depressing enough keeping track of our own.
ehh don’t think it’s going to amount to much at all- Russians are dug in and still have artillery advantage
"Kyiv is making no attempt to hide its preparations. As it gradually receives more Western tanks and IFVs over the spring, Ukraine is forming a new force auspiciously named the Offensive Guard, consisting of six specialized assault brigades coordinated by the National Guard." these ppl are going to all die horrifically I fear
it’s not the same at all- the Ukraine offensives that succeeded worked because the Russians were absolutely exhausted and undermanned that is not the case right now
Looking at a map of Ukraine and noting the layout of roads, rail, rivers / other geological features, there's not any obvious places to attack that would allow the Ukrainians to cover their artillery and armor with air defenses, unless the Ukrainians somehow have the ability to cross the Dnipro in force and en masse (and keep them supplied). This is unlike the late summer / fall offensives where the Russians lines looked like dogshit with salients all over the place, and where their undermanned units were in places very difficult to supply.
In other conflicts... Myanmar... the Chinese backed junta has really ratcheted up the atrocities in this brutal war. Safe for life article: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/residents-say-myanmar-soldiers-killed-17-people-in-2-villages edit: pulled the not safe for life article as I can't vouch for the source.
Apparently 60,000 western trained troops are being incorporated into 3 divisions to take part in a spring offensive with new equipment
