I’ve heard Jalen Carter might be available at 12 due to some issues I can’t seem to find on the internet anywhere
Hard to judge the contract without knowing the breakdown and when they can get out of it. Just disappointing that it's not someone better, regardless of the $$
Yeah. I suppose it doesn't stop us from adding someone else, but it makes it less likely for sure. Not sure what else I hope to see us do, but I imagine it’ll be adding more bodies on the DL.
I have no clue how much more $$ we're going to have because we haven't created more room by dumping Vaitai, Okwara or Harris yet. But I think we'll add vets at G and TE, although I don't see them spending big at either spot. And then the rest is about resigning Cominsky and Williams (or a vet to replace him). I don't see us keeping Chark or Elliott at this point.
Analzone at 1/3 Edmunds salary makes it tough to hate too much. Clearly Edmunds is way better but they may prioritize using that money elsewhere. Also some LB in rd 2/3 who should be available I like to add as well. Considering we have Jameson basically getting added as a pick this year, I'm OK going all defense first two rds if we bring back Williams at RB. A DE, DT, LB and CB in top 2 rds with Sutton would add a ton to this defense
What would it take to get Lance? I may take that gamble considering they just signed Darnold and still have Purdy
Surprised Zach Allen hasn’t been linked anywhere yet. Hopefully we kick the tires there, because he’d be an upgrade for us.
I know he just posted a video where he looks good but this is probably a real good sign showing how they feel about his recovery
You are correct, but I also hope we find someone better than him and Skipper to hopefully not have awesome flea-flickers called back due to holding penalties or general poor blocking.
I think we can afford to front load a deal. I’d rather give him big money for this year and next than give Swift anything.
I'm not really sure Ekeler is that good, though. Statistically speaking, his value seems more tied to volume than efficiency.
I think you’d still need to pair him with someone else, but his versatility would be huge for us. I trust him in a pass catching role over Swift at this point.
I appreciate Holmes restraint, and there isn’t much left in FA that is exciting. That said, this is the first time in forever we are entering a season as the presumed favorite to favorite to win the division, so we should be looking to add good players any way possible.
I believe he was fairly well regarded but then he tore his ACL last season. I wouldn’t be shocked if he played quite a bit next season.
So of the 8 starter-ish guys who were hitting the market... Resigned Anzalone Buggs Cominsky Harris Still Available Brown Chark Elliott Williams I think we still resign Williams. Guessing the other three are gone for more than we'd pay. Also kind of hoping Birkett was wrong about Harris resigning.
Love that we seem to be staying the course instead of rushing things because the division appears to be shit.
IMO the only guys that should impact the draft are St Brown, Jameson, Sewell, McNeill, Joseph and Hutch probably. Anyone else can be upgraded or moved to accommodate whoever is highest on the board. Even then we can still take guys at those/similar positions with complementary skill sets.
The way the draft is seemingly headed, we are likely going to face one of the following two scenarios: 1. Four QB going in the top five, and we can draft Carter (no idea if we pull the trigger or not) 2. Three QBs, Anderson and Carter make up the top five, and any team worried about Vegas getting whoever is left trade up to six. Both seem ideal at this stage, though I’d lean to just taking Carter.
I think we take Tyree at 6 (if he's there, some buzz Arizona may even consider him at 3). Set up a great DE duo and he can slide inside on passing downs to add Houston to pass rush. I questions this teams willingness to take Carter, and I just don't think they'd take a QB given the way they operate and prioritize the trenches Think the picks after that depend on how the board plays out
