What’s the purpose of a detachable disk drive? I legitimately can’t remember the last time I bought a physical game, but maybe I’m in the minority.
After the hassle of getting my hands on a PS5 the first time, I see zero reason to want to go through that again unless the PS5.5 includes an actual holodeck.
I have the disc drive version and have only purchased two physical games since I got it so I’m not sure if it was worth it for me
Mostly the second hand market or sharing games with friends. There’s also the idea that when you have the disc you “own” the game rather than having a license to the digital copy. that said I have the digital version and haven’t bought disc PlayStation games in years. Buy them for the switch though.
I mean I get those applications in terms of them existing I was more just curious how many people actually used them. Sale prices on digital are frequently as good or better than a lot of second hand stores if timed right, and you’re also not supporting the shit stain of a company that is game stop. I don’t have a PS5 yet, but when I get one it will 100% be the digital only one.
What would be the advantage of that? I have one disc and one no disc and I can honestly say I've never out a disc in it. It's just lomda pointless for me at this point. Edit: I should have kept reading
Even this is no longer the case with some games now only having the downloader on the disc (most recent CoD MWII and Halo Infinite were like this).
Not sure I believe that about the pro. PS5 isn’t struggling to run any of the current games. Unless they’re going for 4k120, but that’s difficult for even upper end GPUs now.
Like every ps5 game has to go into reduced fidelity in order to give a stable 60fps. There’s plenty of tweaking they can make within the current envelope
What’s the market for that? How many people own 4kq120 TVs or monitors? I’d take it for 4k, RT, guaranteed 60FPS.
Having the disc drive was convenient for me when the Witcher 3 update came out and I had a physical copy of my PS4 version. Outside of that, I almost always go with the digital version.
Is there something you have to do to get the controller to charge while in rest mode? Mine will only charge if the ps is on.
Yeah it’s not a huge deal since I have to charge them during the day when my son is at daycare because he’s gonna grab the controller if he’s home and sees it on the tv stand. Knew there had to be something though
I have kids and yes we have DVDs. Plus if you have like one or two favorite movies it’s cool to have the high quality 4K media in east reach.
I just assume anything my kid would want to watch on repeat is available on one of the streaming services at this point.
Pretty much but having a few on hand doesn’t hurt when needed. Paw patrol movie made an appearance this weekend.

which one should I buy? I bought this one: Is there a fan/screen/filter you can put on your PS5 to help blow air away and keep dog hair away from it?
I’m not an expert on SSD’s. You’ll need to ask one of our more tech savvy users. PS5 Cooling Fans, Playstation 5 Cooling Fan Compatible with PS5 Discs Edition and Digital Edition https://a.co/d/gEN9Yjx
Comparing prices of expandable storage for PS and Xbox kind of shows that this way needs to be the standard on any future consoles.
I remember hearing a very different story before the launch. Playstations solution was convoluted and Xbox was making it simple for customers. That aged like milk.

It’s wild that I can’t buy spider-man shattered dimensions anywhere because activisions licensing deal expired with marvel
Finally finished It Takes Two yesterday. A little underwhelming ending but I can’t hype the gameplay enough. Just wonderfully executed, creative, mechanics.
Wife and I finally got a PS5 she has been loving Hogwarts and I'm ready to go back to one of my favorite games of all time in Demon Souls.
my wife has been eating gummies and playing hogwarts for 3-4 hours nightly. every time I walk out she’s either just flying around or fucking off in the woods somewhere. Hasn’t made much actual progress. Not sure I’ll ever get the console back at this rate
Good news for me I'm so addicted to Rocket League that I just play on PC while she rocks Hogwarts and I help her when she needs it especially at combat she is not good at it.
The things that are coming out (in and outside of video game development) lately have been absolutely wild. Watch COD still only release about a map a year, no matter the improvements to dev time and costs
I haven't played PGA in a decade but if you can't "boost" your drive by rapidly tapping L1 with the wrong hand while dragging back the left stick, and then controlling spin once the ball lands...I'm out.
The PGA game is pretty meh. EA is supposed to have a new one coming out soon but who knows how that will turn out.
