Both total and guaranteed are 30ish% less than. I thought we were told the signed Montgomery because both sides were "far apart" This suggests Holmes just valued him more.

Maybe they do something unexpected this draft
Don't disagree. Was more pointing out that Detroit sports media told us Montgomery was the backup plan because Williams was too expensive. But that clearly wasn't true. Most surprising thing about the situation is you appearing to pass on a chance to shit on our local media again.
At this point it’s fair to assume Carter is not draftable for us. I do think it’s possible the changes, but it’ll require Carter doing something drastic (his own individual workout closer to the Draft maybe?). I assume Carter will be one of our 30 pre draft visits as well, so maybe he can clean himself up and knock the visit out of the park. It seems unlikely right now though.
Holmes was adamant he would upgrade the backup QB position, and to this point we haven’t been linked to any FA QB. I feel like the backup QB market is slowly taking shape with Winston and Walker signing deals, but if our plan is to address the backup spot in FA, I believe these are the best remaining options: Bridgewater - probably cost prohibitive Mariota - seems like a decent fit Minshew - Probably cost prohibitive I am sure there are others, but of the guys available that are clearly upgrades, there isn’t much out there. So if the plan is to address the position in the draft, and we aren’t taking a QB at six, our options are basically: Hooker: I am intrigued despite his age and injury, but if four QB go top ten, does a team panic and take him late in the first to get the fifth year option? McKee: he’s fine, and he’s a better athlete than his numbers show, but wasting what will likely be a second for a guy that seems to lack any semblance of starter upside doesn’t feel like a wise investment. O’Connell: Maybe you take him in the sixth — no real upside but he seems like he could turn into a guy that won’t embarrass you if pressed into action. My issue with a guy like O’Connell is you probably still need to sign a vet backup like Peterman for next year just to have in the room. That doesn’t seem to make sense at this point.
I think anyone who considers themselves a potential starter wouldn't be interested in sitting behind Goff if they have any options. Are the Jets gonna cut Wilson?
Mariota seems like the ideal back-up if you're going to pay for one based on skill set, except he quit on Atlanta last year when they decided they wanted to give Ridder a shot. I don't know everything that happened there, but it was pretty public and I don't see that as something this regime is going to want to bring in at any position, but particularly at QB.
At a certain point these guys will look for the best deal, but that goes back to how likely are we to invest heavily in purely a backup QB? It’s different if it’s a guy like Richardson or Levis, regardless of how you feel about either guy. They are at least there as the hypothetical future.
New CBS mock has us taking Carter at 6, despite Will Anderson being available, and Myles Murphy at 18, despite Witherspoon being available.
"It wasn't so much Carter's great play for UGA last year, as it was his ability to show up completely out of shape for draft workouts and love for drag racing down streets that caused the Lions to fall in love with him and trade up to 3"
“We’ve seen he can hit and after his most recent off the field incident, he can surely run as well. Lions lock”
I would assume Vaitai is getting cut now, which makes sense with his injury issues. Glasgow should be locked in at RG, but adding to the OL on Day 2 shouldn’t be out of the question.
Cut vaitai and bring back Chark on a decent deal now he sees he's not getting a huge contract and take another need off board
Jalen Carter is going to show up for his introductory press conference and ask each media member if they want to race.
A better LB than Analzone would have made FA an unqualified success. But I agree that we can find that LB on day 2 and at that point we'd be in pretty good shape at LB with Rodriguez, Analzone, Draft Pick LB and Barnes.
I like Henley, Sanders and Simpson but I wouldn't be shocked if they take Sewell in rd 3, starting to look like he may fall all the way to 3rd
Started hot, had a pretty rough stretch middle of season and finished off ok. Overall a pretty solid rookie year considering where he was drafted and expectations.
But only for a few games. He’s good to come in spot duty for a game or two, but he’s too easy to defend against with his overall lack of deep throws Would’ve loved him as a backup in a pinch
Awesome. It appears we’ve filled most of the holes on the roster with reasonable deals and wont have to reach in the draft. Smart imo
Backups getting some good deals this off-season. At this point I expect we end up with Mason Rudolph.
I wouldn't be shocked if we take Hooker in the mid rounds. Funny enough today I learned Gardner Minshew is only one year older than Hooker
I would still draft the Michigan kicker in the 3rd round. He can win you games kicking 55+ yarders. Badley can’t do that
