I worked with her grandfather. They're Armenian with a bunch of family in Ukraine. She used to cover USC sports when she was in school.
If you want to dump fuel on it why not line up directly behind it, fly over while dumping fuel, and then drop altitude ahead of it while dropping fuel to ensure you cover it? Safe, controlled, and ensures you cover it in fuel. coming from behind below it and all cockeyed seems like the worst idea I guess that is where the amateur comments comes from
When Catalonia is and always has been directly in opposition of fascist Spain, I don't think this is the burn you think it is.
That didn't take long. After cruising the Romanian coast last night, a new RQ-4B Global Hawk is back out over the Black Sea this morning.
I think global hawk has a max altitude atleast 10k feet higher than su-27 etc… WhiskeyDelta can probably say better than me but I’d guess they are flying it pretty high and safe
Also kind of weird this morning....a Ukrainian TB2 has its transponder on near Lviv. Rarely see anything with a transponder on over Ukrainian airspace
Yeah it was an MQ-9 that got knocked down; RQ-4s fly at U-2 type altitudes. It's also not unusual to see them there; if you search FlightRadar24's tweet history you see them fairly often in the Black.
FORTE10 taking the surveillance runs closer to Russia than the previous MQ-9 would. 'Come at me bro' vibe this morning. A lot of military aircraft activity from Romania all the way up through Poland this morning. Eyes everywhere.
This thread shows one of the ways Russia is getting things imported. Here it's fancy vehicles coming from UAE via Iran
1) That's about the same distance the MQ-9 was 2) Thats a standard modified racetrack pattern. 3) Standoff range for an MQ-9 is under ten miles and is a medium-altitude asset. RQ-4s are about three times higher and can stand off quite a bit farther for that reason. Basically, that twitter user is talking out their ass.
Global hawk flys around 55-60k if I am not mistaken. It’s tough to maneuver at that altitude as very few aircraft fly that high. I am sure Russia has some aircraft that can get to that altitude but there is so little air flowing over the control surfaces, turning quickly is difficult. It’s much easier for a global hawk to make small turns to avoid any other aircraft.
I know those drones aren’t super maneuverable but what happens if the controller just pulls the stick back when that su-27 passed by it. Sure seems like Russia losing one of their bombers is a much bigger loss than a drone
You don't need to get an aircraft that high, just a missile. It'd be really hard to time it to do it on purpose; the pilots are thousands of miles away so there's going to be a few seconds delay and a Flanker is one of the most maneuverable aircraft out there. It's primarily a fighter FYI, the SU-27 kind of fills the same niche as the F15, and later variants fill the F-15E fighter/bomber role.
Some recent Russian friendly fire incidents to start your Friday- both SFW: MLRS system malfunctions and blows up the one in front of it Wagner trying to re-take a trench. Guy gets confused and shoots his comrade at 1:26
This is very interesting geopolitically, though it has no real impact. If Xi is visiting Moscow on Monday, it is saying something, something very against the "old China" policy. I think they are accelerating the timeline in China in a way that will eventually backfire.
I don't think that was a malfunction in the first video. Yesterday there were quite a few comments going around how Ukraine got three of them all at once. Here is a longer video of the destruction of those three \
Vlad ought to turn himself into the ICC. Peter the Great loved his time spent in The Hague. Don’t you wanna be like Peter the Great Vladdy??
Unique footage of light Ukrainian armor probing a russian position. Seems like Russians there don’t have anything AT because those m113 based units can be taken out by basically anything bigger than small arms.
No way. IRA, no matter what you think of their politics/aims, was active. I can’t see him doing more than feverishly screaming at the walls in his mums basement.
I didn’t know we sent them new matvs. Not a significant capability improvement over what they have had before but kinda in between an mrap and humvee. Don’t remember seeing on any equipment lists.
