Lamar is a lot more expensive, only slightly less drama, and may not be a sure thing to be better over the next three years. I don't necessarily think that is some slam dunk better option, especially with Hackett as coach.
SF has QBs, not enough money, plus Rodgers said he wouldn't go there. Everyone else has their QB or is lining up for one in the draft. Jets are the only team left that fit the timeline of a team ready to win now but is missing the QB.
I'd argue that SF is only missing a QB but if they don't have the money that's irrelevant. Thanks for the replies.
I don't think Rodgers could play for Shanahan right now. I think those two would kill each other before Thanksgiving. Shanahan is a control freak about his offenses (which is why someone like Purdy succeeds by just doing exactly what he wants). Rodgers has spent much of his career having complete control to change plays and do whatever he wants.
I'm not even sure they're friends. I think he and Hawk are friends more than he and Pat. But McAfee is perfect for Rodgers because he's so thankful he comes on the show that he just tees him up to carry out all his stupid grudges against media and fans while never challenging Rodgers on anything or forcing him to talk about anything he doesn't want to talk about.
I'll allow it Herman is a fanboy turned filmboy and doesn't do a good job of separating the two. There are a plethora of fanboy accounts that try elevating themselves to real journalists and it's impossible to keep them out of the timeline without all out blocking them.
It’s amazing how people just dive head first into the villainy pool when faced with just the slightest bit of criticism
Green Bay is a lot closer to Chicago than NYC and he hates his family. Are you sure you like Aaron Rodgers and not Erin Rogers my 4th grade gf?
It might have been a joke at the Rodgers "I still own you" mistaken with a daddy joke? But he hates his family so wants to get further away.
Let me translate this into Fosters for you: I’m moving from Melbourne to Darwin to be closer to my family that live in Sidney (they actually live in Perth and I hate them).
My hope is this blows up because the Packers are being dumb, the Jets move on and get someone else, and then Rodgers pulls a Favre and makes the Packers pay him or cut him just to spite them.
Who? Seems to me both the Packers and the Jets are holding guns at each other's heads while timebomb between them is slowly ticking away.
My sick brain wants to see Green Bay not move him, and then for LeFleur to go on a pod or tell Peter Shrager that Love is QB1 and Rodgers is free to come compete for a back up job
He would just get cut on 8/31. There is a massive roster bonus that vests at the start of the season.
I don't see how the Packers have the Jets in this ideal situation. He's sitting on their cap. They don't want him. And they would seem to have to move him before the draft because not getting any 2023 comp for him without any guarantee of it being better in 2024 seems bad to me.
We can't really make FA moves with or without Rodgers on the team. And I think one of the issues is that the Jets would ideally move future draft capital anyways, not 2023 picks that could be used to bolster the likely one-year stint with Rodgers.
Read online that Jackson is on a non-exclusive tag. This means that other teams can sign him to an offer sheet, and then Baltimore has 5 days to match the offer. Barring an absolutely absurd, fully-guaranteed deal, Baltimore WILL match. If Baltimore matches, Lamar stays with them. It's not his choice at that point. In the absurd scenario where Baltimore doesn't match, it's because a team has offered an absolutely ridiculous contract to Lamar. At that point, said team would also have to send TWO FIRSTS to Baltimore on top of it all. If the Jets won't send a single first to Green Bay, they're not sending two to Baltimore.
