They want the stadium in green and that gives people enough time and notice to fall in line. It’ll still be 30% green, 8% blue, 5% white and 57% scarlet
related, follow-up rant: they should reinforce the need to wear green for every game, all the time, no exceptions. the shirt should be green every year (I acknowledge that they lose money by not changing the color every year but tough shit). maybe a few more people will get it and it will feel a little less like amateur hour every time you flip on NBC.
I assume we’d match unless they throw something insane at him. Brey had to have been making pretty good coin these last few years.
It’s Penn State, not some basketball school, I’m pretty confident we can out bid them if we want, the question is, do we want?
and as a school that has wanted, but had no success in given sport, i would expect them to outbid us to keep him. which sucks.
When it comes to money we obviously can. Will we? If Jack wants him I think so. But if we don't get him cause $$ I won't be surprised.
per II brey was just under 2 millions and they compared to a coach at a lesser program that was making more after just 3 years on the job while it took brey 15 years to get to that number. Probably a poor argument since the market is the market but it seems like nd sure likes to make sure they pay a little less than everybody else
If they showed an ounce of humility I’d feel bad. Lost their bowl game by 50 Lost to their rivals twice Lost to a sixteen seed
Crying publicly about not being able to fit that fucking drum down the tunnel at Rock's House, therefore can't bring their percussion penis pump into the game. Here's a towel.
One thing I appreciate while watching the NCAA tournament is that athletic, attacking basketball teams that actually play defense are just a hell of a lot more fun to watch than whatever it is we have been subjected to recently at ND. SDSU in particular is just such a breath of fresh air. Hustle up and down the court, fluid ball movement and hard nose rebounding all over. Not saying we can or should replicate that model but damn, whoever our coach ends up being, give us something to be excited about watching please. PLEASE.
It was amazing watching Purdue last night where everyone on the floor was scared shitless to take a shot in the second half. To that point they couldn't hit a jump shot to save their life and they would just keep passing hoping someone else would step up.
The old super fluid Brey teams were a blast to watch, it was just beautiful offense. The burn teams were infuriating as a fan and an opponent. Whatever weird combo of the worst parts of both they have been the last few years were nearly unwatchable. I'll take any style as long as it's done well.
Agreed. I must be traumatized from watching listless ND offenses pass it around the top of the key endlessly before firing off an ill-advised shot at the worst possible time. Guys seemed almost scared to drive to the basket or set anything in motion.
This Xavier team looks a lot like Peak Brey Great ball movement, 3-4 shooters out there, 1 solid big guy who eats the boards
Hard to care much anymore lol Just a fast rising player at a position of need decommiting for “academic reasons” (mid-semester?) after signing an NLI going to a rival who has made the playoffs two straight years with just as strong academics as us. Sure
Their academics, when it comes to athletes, are not as strong. ND doesn't have a kinesiology athlete romper room. Michigan isn't SEC level, but they aren't at the ND, Stanford, Duke level when it cone to admissions and performance requirements for athletes.
Sounds like Ed Cooley is on his way to Georgetown. They seemed like the biggest comp for Shrewsberry Bring him home, Jack
The Ludwig fiasco may help with Shrewsberry, Jack can't get "out bid" twice and keep donors from losing it, he may be forced to open the pocket book if the right people are pushing.
I feel like Michigan has the swing path ND needs. I don't want to be compared to SEC schools academically. Also don't want to be compared to Duke/Stanford as a program. Having higher standards than most but not the same high academic standards of Stanford and Duke 2 traditionally bad football programs.
This new trend of calling universities cheap is fun and great while they spend millions. If we are just talking pure ideology they should just put every ressources towards academics. But we live in a weird world where we need to look at people trying to kill each other on a football field to be entertained. i think I just got to Thoros of Beer level
I think it's fair to mock Michigan for the General Studies major stuff over the years. I've never understood people mocking a football program having a large number of Kinesiology majors. It's not hard to understand why a bunch of college athletes would major in something that generally leads to careers like coaching, PE teacher, fitness trainer, etc. Even at small schools I've worked at it's easily the most popular major among athletes across sports, male and female.
They are still a large public university. They can't be the model for ND when it comes to academics and athletics. That's not a knock. As a large public, they are much more the to the supposed academic mission than most of their cohorts. But they are not similar to ND in funding, size mission, etc. I'm not putting one over another. They are just different. A lot different. So expecting ND to mirror them in that regard isn't really a realistic expectation.
