A manager performing a professional wrestling style heel turn on his clubs own fans is something the sport could use more of.
Usually it’s opposition fans trolling Spurs for a lack of trophies. Their manager doing it is something I could totally get around.
We’re self-imploding because we’re 4th (at worst 5th or 6th with those around us having games in hand). Can’t imagine what it would be like to be 18th at this point! Conte Out though. edit: with this magical, blessed point, Spurs actually cannot be relegated this season. What a managerial masterclass given the loser morons we are forced to put on the pitch for lack of transfer backing to replace them.
On one hand I would have really liked to see a draw today and Arsenal drop points On the other hand I now want Crystal Palace to be relegated after stupidly dropping Vieira.
So to keep track, I'm cheering for Leeds, Everton, and now Crystal Palace to go down. Fingers crossed
The relegation battle this year is looking incredibly sexy right now. Every club below 11th place should be at the very least slightly panicked. Pretty quirky that there is an 11 point gap between 11th and 12th and only a 4 point difference between 12th and 20th.
I'm kinda bored with Southampton. They finish with roughly 40 points every season except the time a few years ago they cleared 50.
I like the USMNT flavor Leeds has going on. If I were a neutral I'm not sure I'd be ready for Everton to go down just yet. Watching people be financially irresponsible and get basically nothing in return is always entertaining.
Crystal Palace shouldn't have done Vieira wrong like that. Same with Leeds and Bielsa. Fuck them both. Hope they take the Sunderland route Everton? Well, it'll just be funny to see them fall out of the PL.
We are at risk of doing a Sunderland/Portsmouth style death spiral if we go down. Those stories seem to go from being mildly amusing to downright depressing pretty quickly for neutrals.
I'll take this as a compliment that you think people feel strongly enough about Everton that there would be mass schadenfreude if we go down. I can see how it would, but I'm not sure if I've ever actually felt any joy because a particular club got relegated. As of yet.
Are there even enough clubs that don't have anything to play for to know if a schedule is favorable yet? Teams that are locked in at midtable are the gems you want to see on your fixture list this stage in the season.
I'm curious as to whether the joy continued as they spiraled or if you just sort of forgot about them.
There’s apparently calls for Mitrovic to get a 10 game ban on top of the 3 game suspension. Seems awfully harsh after the FA did nothing with the Bruno incident
I know. It was still deliberate contact with an official, though. I’m not trying to say Mitrovic doesn’t deserve what’s coming, just wild that Bruno got nothing at all if Mitrovic gets 10+
Context matters. One was violent and intimidating and the other was a flippant response to an official initiating contact. Bruno getting a suspension would've been ok with me considering setting precedent matters but imo yesterday's incident is so different
Again, no argument to the last point. But if they’re going to give Mitrovic 8-10, Bruno should have got some retroactive suspension for a game or two. They are very different situations, but both involve intentional contact with the official, which is against the rules/conduct
That doesn’t/shouldn’t matter. Also, not saying any punishment he should have got would be similar. Just amazed he got absolutely nothing if mitro is going to get the rumored punishment.
the only reason I bring it up is that the official might have literally not even felt it. Mitro didn’t punch the guy or anything, but obviously shoved the official.
Sure, but him touching a player trying to calm a situation down doesn’t make it ok for him to slap at/push away
