If people thought SUM previously had too much influence on the USMNT, it was peanuts compared to what Televisa's and some of the other LigaMX owners influence is on FMF. And maybe on that note, SUM is the promoter of El Tri and LigaMX matches played in the U.S. It might be Garber's grand scheme of MLS owners raking in the cash on those teams while helping the El Tri performance stay status quo.

Mexico should be better than Suriname of course, but they’re not that bad. I remember being scared when Canada had to play them in the early World Cup qualifying round lol. In some alternate universe where Suriname and Curaçao are one country, their combined team of Dutch trained players could do some damage in CONCACAF.
