Post your lineups and tactics here

Important notes: Pay attention to how you the formation you choose lines up. For example: 4-2-3-1 has wings as LAM and RAM not LM/LW and RM/RW so has different instruction options than 4-2-3-1 (2) or any 4-3-3.

Also, the tactics have changed so make sure to read the options I list.

    Link to the Season thread:
    https://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/2023-tsb-sim-league.184303/

For each player you can give instructions (All of these also have a default that is a mix of the options unless I note something is default) anything not specified will be left at default, or whatever the team has it set to

ST/CF/LF/RF: Support Runs (Drift Wide, Stay Central), Attacking Runs (Get In Behind, Target Man, False 9), Interceptions (Aggressive, Normal, Conservative), Defensive Support (Come Back, Stay Forward)

LW/RW: Defensive Support (Come Back On D, Stay Forward), Chance Creation (Cut Inside, Stay Wide, Free Roam), Support Runs (Get In Behind, Come Short, Target Man), Support On Crosses (Get Into Box, Stay On Edge of Box), Interceptions (Agressive, Normal, Conservative)

LM/RM: Defensive Support (Come Back On D, Stay Forward), Chance Creation (Cut Inside, Stay Wide, Free Roam), Support Runs (Get In Behind, Come Short, Target Man), Support On Crosses (Get Into Box, Stay On Edge of Box), Interceptions (Agressive, Normal, Conservative)

CAM/LAM/RAM: Defensive Support (Come Back On D, Stay Forward), Support on Crosses (Get Into The Box, Stay on Edge of Box), Positioning Freedom (Stick To Position which is default, Free Roam, Drift Wide), Interceptions (Agressive, Normal, Conservative)

CM: Attacking Support (Stay Back, Get Forward, Drop Between Defenders), Support on Crosses (Get Into The Box, Stay on Edge of Box), Interceptions (Agressive, Normal, Conservative), Positioning Freedom (Stick To Position which is default, Free Roam), Defensive Position (Cover Center, Cover Wing which is default)

DM: Defensive Behavior (Cut Passing Lanes, Man Mark), Attacking Support (Stay Back, Get Forward, Drop Between Defenders), Interceptions (Agressive, Normal, Conservative), Defensive Position (Cover Center, Cover Wing which is default)

CB: Attacking Support (Stay Back which is default, Join Attack, Play As Striker), Interceptions (Agressive, Normal, Conservative)

LB/RB/LWB/RWB: Attacking Runs (Join The Attack, Stay Back), Interceptions (Agressive, Normal, Conservative), Run Type (Inverted, Overlap)

GK: Saving on Crosses (Come for Crosses, Cautious with Crosses), Saving Outside Box (Balance which is default, Sweeper Keeper)

Roles you must choose someone for each:
    Captain
    Left Short FK
    Right Short FK
    Long FK
    Penalties
    Left Corner
    Right Corner

    Tactics:
    Defending
Style: Balanced, Pressure on heavy touch, Press after possession loss, Constant pressure, Drop back

    Width: 1-100

Depth: 1-100 (1-29 your team shape is more dropping deep, 30-69 more balanced, 70-100 high for more of a pressing team shape)

    Offense

Build Up Play: Balanced, Long ball, Fast build up, Possession
Chance Creation: Balanced, Possession, Forward Runs, Direct Passing

    Width: 1-100

Players in box: 1-10 (1-3 you will have less players in box in crossing situations, 4-7 some, 8-10 lots)

Corners: 1-5 (1-2 is low amount of men in box, 3 is normal, 4-5 is high amount of men in box)

Free Kicks 1-5 (1-2 is low amount of men in box, 3 is normal, 4-5 is high amount of men in box)

    Some unsolicited thoughts:

a lot of talent, but goal scoring is a worry
Too old. Hilariously tiny midfield. Would need 2018 Kante to have a chance. Don’t think he’s for the juice anymore
I don’t love Griezmann and Muller in the same side as they do a lot of similar things. Also Griez hasn’t been good in a wide role since Sociedad. Fullbacks would be the most important players for it to work tactically and will be heavily reliant on Rashford. Like the midfield 2 tho

This team is spicy. Would absolutely murder teams in transition. Would worry against a low block but enough talent and physicality to power through. Pavard the only weak link? And he’s even not awful. Best team so far I reckon

An up and down team. The highs are really high, but the lows are rough. Gotta worry about Thiago’s inability to stay even somewhat close to fit and the left side of that defense is going to leak goals. But Salah and Dybala would combine really well and love Moose in a free midfield role like this.

would have liked to see a versatile winger who can play on either side because depth there is rough after the first two

As what will be obvious to anyone who looks at this team, youth is a huge worry (especially in the midfield). Building your entire team around two 19 year old CMs is pretty risky, no matter how good they both are.

We’ll keep the ball a ton, with Camavinga playing the Zinchenko role of an inverted LB, which he should be perfect for. But feels like goal scoring is going to be the big issue. Imagine us losing 1-0 with 70% of the ball. None of Chiesa/Gakpo/Jesus is a natural finisher and can be counted on. Definitely the weakest spot on the team, though I’m excited to see Kudus there

Love the attack. One of the few set ups imaginable to get the best out of Kai. Rice and Rodri behind him lets him just vibe. Diaby would kill it too with Traore bombing up the wing

biggest danger is the fans turning on you immediately at the first bad result. They’ve been burned so many times before, the atmosphere is gonna get toxic so fast. Like Arsenal Fan TV bad

lot of high level talent, but worried about putting people in their best position to succeed. Foden is better as a winger right now than a CM, and kinda thinking you're asking Alaba to de-age himself. I know he has played some LB this year, but worry about his legs trying to cover that entire flank. Also thought Asensio was having a rough year, but don't watch Madrid very often.

feels like a top 4 contender if everyone stays healthy tho. Mane is obviously incredible, and just the entire team has a high floor. And the Madrid crest is worth an extra 9 points somehow.

I regret to inform everyone that Bankz's team slaps this year. Leao-Kane-Mahrez is probably the best front 3 in the league + Bennacer-Llorente is a nice CM combo. Bennacer is going to be asked to do a ton in possession to advance the ball, but think he is probably good enough. There would be some matches where they would struggle to keep the ball and sustain pressure, but those wingers mean you'll create against anyone.

James/Acuna are really really good wingbacks in a back 5 but the CBs don't inspire a ton of confidence. Good profiles but no one I would feel good good about in a duel. Other than CB, truly the biggest issue with this team is chemistry. Kane is going to pout that he wasn't made captain or put on FKs, Leao will struggle to lead a team of vets, and Emi Martinez will poison the team from the bench and demand a transfer halfway through the season if he isn't starting. Just feels like a weird vibe? if the CBs hold up this is a really good team

This team is just absolutely baffling. No idea what the attack will look like, 3 10's just standing around? Who are the runners here? Asking Fekir to defend a wing is just asking for trouble. Fullbacks are the only source of width, so I am worried about Vlahovic getting much service. Elite CB combo (and Botty on the bench) though and the two CDMs are both good, but just still struggling to see how the attack is going to work.

Gotta also say I have never once seen Blas play in my life. so who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Another team I really like, and the 4141 is my favorite formation in the sport. Fede gonna shine in that role and the left side would be very hard to defend. Theo outside of Diaz is lethal.

the right side I’m less confident in, considering Gnabry isn’t the player he was two seasons ago. Also would like to see a bit more creativity in the midfield 4, but Haaland is Haaland so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . feels like a very solid top 4 team

Yeah that stuff doesn’t really have a default, just the instructions.

I guess 50 width/depth and 3 for FK/Corners, 5 for players in the box would be default with all options balanced

We are still able to do any cup. I was pondering that myself and not sure what to do

I also wanted to pose a question to the group

Would you like to see me throw fictional AFC Richmond from Ted Lasso into the cup and/or UCL as what would likely be a competitive cpu squad?

    Okay gotcha, here it is.

    Tactics:
    Defending
    Style: Press after possession loss

    Width: 30

Depth: 80 (1-29 your team shape is more dropping deep, 30-69 more balanced, 70-100 high for more of a pressing team shape)

    Offense

    Build Up Play: Possession
    Chance Creation: Possession

    Width: 66

Players in box: 5 (1-3 you will have less players in box in crossing situations, 4-7 some, 8-10 lots)

Corners: 3 (1-2 is low amount of men in box, 3 is normal, 4-5 is high amount of men in box)

Free Kicks 3 (1-2 is low amount of men in box, 3 is normal, 4-5 is high amount of men in box)

So you can't look at this team without starting with the elephant in the room. Not sure how you could watch the first half of the Manchester United season go by and decide, "I would love to emulate this". Ronaldo is washed and has awful chemistry with Bruno. Hard to imagine this team functioning properly with CR7 in it. Just a recipe for disaster that deserves ridicule and derision. (spoiler alert, I would have said this about any CR7 team, but pairing him back with Bruno is just hilarious)

Looking elsewhere, the wings are a definite weak spot. Asking Reus to play as a wide player is just cruel in his old age and guessing he will be injured within 3 weeks (tho Maddison is a good back up). And Sterling is pretty trash too.

Otherwise, Kimmich is the perfect Xavi midfielder (and would have been my pick if he had fallen to me) and Araujo's pace and physicality is a perfect cover to let Hakimi bomb up the outside. I like some of these players but just the vibes are awful.

Honestly not sure what to think of this team. A lot of good players but in non-perfect positions? You kinda have to play Messi centrally these days but would 100% have paired him with a more mobile midfield. Kroos and Messi in a midfield 3 is not ideal.]

Love the Di Maria/Messi combo (mainly for vibes/chemistry). Memphis is also very much not a winger so worried about him wanting to operate in the spaces Messi is in. Lot of "experience" in this team that knows how to win, but also weirdly tiny outside of Koulibay. Just hard to imagine what this team would look like on-field

Without the Man United castoffs this would be a top tier team. Not sure Pogba has ever been able to play the role you're asking of him and Lukaku is Lukaku. Hard to trust him to be your goal scorer. Modric/De Bruyne as dual 8s is extremely fun and Son will combine very well. Ruddy was a steal at that round too, and anchors a pretty ok backline.

Would probably be the team I would be most interested in watching actually play, mainly because of the 8's and the chaos of Pogba next to them.

Pretty simple breakdown actually. Love the front 6, very worried about the back 4. Grealish/Raphina cutting inside will be great and I love the midfield balance. Mbappe is probably better on the left but give him the freedom to drift around and he'll be great. Laimer is going to have to do a ton of covering for those fullbacks and he is pretty perfect for it. Not great under a press but the other two can drop back and help.

The back 4 is rough tho. Carvajal isn't the player he used to be and would get targeted heavily. Robertson is great going forward but would need a ton of coverage + I don't actually know if Schlotter is good or just looks like he should be good. That said, the midfield is good enough that I think they would overcome it
