Exactly. We don’t need, and never will achieve, 100% agreement on the topic. Forget about the 10% of people that won’t be rational or reasonable. Message to the 75% that love kids and safe gatherings more than guns.
Separately, Senate chaplain Barry Black, whose role is traditionally nonpolitical, called for lawmakers to take action on gun violence “beyond thoughts and prayers” after the shooting. “Lord, when babies die at a church school, it is time for us to move beyond thoughts and prayers," he said on the Senate floor Tuesday morning.
So all those secular kids didn’t matter? I get his point what what makes these special? All kid deaths are tragic and should be avoided
My attempt to decipher...not even God could stop the guns maybe we should do something about the guns.?.?
One insane framing i saw was "evidently, cis mass shooters can kill as many kids as they want, but the moment cops know the shooter is trans..." It was tongue in cheek. I chuckled
damn when she said we have two kids we don't know where they are I wonder if they were running an errand for a teacher or something? At my kids school they send them out in pairs to drop stuff off to the office or library etc.
I’m not going to say “man I wish their kids would have been the ones killed”. But, someone saying that online doesn’t compare to the ghouls who have the power to do something and don’t do shit. They aren’t close to the same thing. There is no “moral high ground” to lose in this situation. Like I said earlier to a.tramp absolutely nothing will matter to them.
That person shockingly is blaming the shooter's identity as a reason why trans people are to be demonized.
Bc it was scumbag Benny fucking Johnson who would gladly trade many more 9 year olds lives if it gave his virulently racist views more ammo
At 5:15 in the body cam footage, you can see a little girl on the ground blurred out. All I can think about is the fear going through her head, likely all alone running for her life, before the she was killed. No child should ever experience that. This is absolutely horrific and we need to make a change. I hope this is the catalyst Nashville voters need to actually make that change, but I'm not holding my breath.
whatever it takes, but "at church school" really fucking irritates me as if it matters more than any other school or any other baby.
Yeah Benny Johnson is on the pay no mind list. He's the kind of person who would happily murder anyone who isn't white, so prob not who we want to be posting here.
In 1999, Burchett received national media attention for sponsoring a bill to legalize the eating of roadkill, wild animals killed by vehicles, before notifying the county game warden. He defended the proposal as a "common-sense thing" intended to prevent edible meat from being wasted. Eating roadkill was already legal – as it is in most places – but required prior notification of the county game warden.
Christians playing the victim card when they literally control every possible power lever in the country is part of the gig.
Nashville is pretty blue. We can't do shit because the state is doing everything it can to take power away from the city. And we are vastly outnumbered by Maga idiots in this state.
While overall you are correct, the pocket of Nashville directly surrounding Covenant is very red. GOP needs that pocket to stay that way to continuing winning the gerrymandered districts.
1) fuck off, Hawley 2) is there any confirmed motive? 3) what’s Hawley’s plan for preventing future “hate crimes” (hint: gun control would be a good one)
True. I just don't think there is much Nashville can do to prevent this stuff given the politics of the state which sucks. Shit the morons that run this state are trying to make it where you can open carry an AR down Broadway with no permit. I'm sure that won't lead to any deaths......
I think its the officer with the shotgun who is yelling for the LPVO forward. What a good call. That particular exchange couldn't have gone better for police and hopefully if nothing else makes someone think twice about copycatting.
I took that as a shot at people who offer nothing but prayers--saying if prayers alone stopped this, it wouldn't have happened at a Christian school. I don't think he was trying to minimize shootings at a secular place or put this one on a pedestal.
As a non-Christian and atheist, it felt like he was speaking from the Christian perspective whether he meant it that way or not. I just didn't see why that was a differentiator as everyone in the world fucking knows already that prayers do not prevent school shootings.
Right, but people do in fact still make that statement/argument all the time, no matter how stupid it is, and he seemed to be pretty clearly smacking them over the head with that argument.
If you kill some kid with a gun, on some fundamental level, it’s a hate crime. These dipshits aren’t willing to address how we can prevent more hate crimes. Especially when a HUGE majority are people who actually hold hate towards any group of minorities. That fuck playing victim to use this to further perpetuate laws that will create more hate is so fucked up but so on brand.
Look at those precious faces and then argue that your right to own high-powered weapons is more important.
Same. Wife teaches 3rd. My oldest child is 8. Just infuriates me and breaks my heart all at same time. Those poor parents, siblings, teachers, students, etc. At some point, I hope it’s not too far in the distant future, future Americans are going to look at this time period and be utterly astounded that we argued over basic gun control while we let things like this happen with no response at all.
The “god given right” to own a gun trumps an actual right to have a child get not get murdered because people want to have their pew pews. It’s pretty fucking sickening.
I try asking people all the time if giving up your AR, of which you have no logical reason to own, would save just one child is that not well worth it? Unfortunately most the gun nuts I grew up with won't answer the question.
I spent way too much of my day arguing with dipshits on Twitter about this. There is really just no way to reason with a gun nut. They think that all gun laws make it worse and more guns is always the answer to keep people safer. I just don’t see how people can make their entire identity about guns. We will never have meaningful progress.
