All in all I got it for $216 + tax. I saw it on Tuesday and talked myself into going back and getting it yesterday. First watch I've bought in several years so I figured, why not

yeah, but i bought a no-date sub, which is what i think i ultimately wanted the entire time (or an all-black gmt... similar watch) it took me about 10 years to buy the sub (used) so i'm pretty patient. don't think ill be getting that Cartier for a while
Been reading a lot on watches lately and I've gotta say this is a dangerous hobby for the bank account.
The good thing is (compared to other expensive hobbies) is that there's a really active secondary market to buy things at better prices and to offload things as you learn what you like.
Should I try to get in line at the swatch in Times Square for the gold moonswatch? Thursday at 7pm and I’m off work at 3.
It makes him happy and thats all that matters. surprisingly I've been really hating on my seiko purchase from earlier this year and I put it on today for the first time and I'm really liking it again. Its really kind of fun winding up an automatic and setting everything to current.
Small wrist club. Pretty sure I’m going to buy this in the next couple days. https://elementintime.com/products/...lKVsStvCVnRMJkveL4YiHjijIrY9Es-oaAuMhEALw_wcB
Got offered this through an AD yesterday and less than 30 minutes after being offered got told he sold it. Pretty clown way to offer someone a watch, but I think I prefer the Sundust and black subdials anyways.
I have pretty small wrists as well but the 36 looked really small on my wrist. Have you tried one on already?
One of my favorite watches, period. I know a lot of people think Sub or GMT when they hear “Rolex,” but to me the Datejust is the most iconic Rolex.
That’s annoying… at least the AD showed their cards & opened the door for you to say “yes” immediately & then change your mind
I like white gold but I'm not much of a rose gold, traditional, fan. Also most unpopular opinion, Im not a daytona fan either.
I'm kind of happy he sold it to someone else because I prefer the other one. But it's a totally unprofessional way to handle it. He had sold it before getting an actual "no" response. If it was a watch I really wanted, I'd be annoyed. The guy should at least be willing to wait a few hours/days or at a minimum make clear that he offered it to multiple people and the first one to respond saying they want it will get it.
100%. I'd probably mention my disappointment to the AD in your shoes, in a polite, professional manner... & leave out the part about not really wanting that model. I imagine they'd be inclined to make amends on something else you like in the future.
Agreed generally. But it's not my personal AD who gets tons of volume and would never pull that shit. It's my parent's AD who gets shit for volume and surprisingly got a discontinued chocolate daytona. So it's whatever at this point.
“Got a discontinued chocolate Daytona” Uhhh, no, they found it in the vault and had to get rid of it ASAP.
Kinda doubt that's the case. The place isn't hard up for cash, and that's a pretty desirable watch. Even pre-discontinuation, I saw listed prices for like $50-60k, and I'd imagine they're higher now. And as shown by him selling it within like 30 minutes of texts, it was never going to be hard to offload. From what I know, Rolex doesn't tell the ADs what they're going to get or when, especially this AD since it's on the smaller side. I legit think he opened up a box, found out he got it, and then texted like 2-3 people as soon as he could. Poor form, but I can't come up with any reason he would sit on something like that when he can only sell it at retail.
This seems pretty consistent with the manner in which my AD operates. I'll get a text, asking if I'm interested and/or if anyone I know might be... If I say "yes" on the spot, it's mine, but she's going down her list to ensure she gets the sale & not someone else. Had a buddy hesitate on a 2-tone Sea Dweller, as he had to ask the wife. When he called back 30 minutes later it was gone. Now if it's something I specifically requested (or even dblplay1212 ) then we get a "your watch is in" call & time to make arrangements
Makes sense for the sales people. This text came from the owner of the store. I'd assume he wasn't relying on any commissions.
