https://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/heavy-music-thread.120519/page-182 ^ probably worth just using this thread? that said, i love hate5six’s stuff. birmingham DIY goes so hard. you can catch me in the front row in the mesh shirt
Best show I ever attended was Death Threat’s final show in CT, with Madball and Death Before Dishonor. Simpler times.
Not much into metalcore anymore outside of a select few artists, though was my mainstay through college. Am too young to get into the late 90s, and some of the early 00s albums. Definite list of my favorite metalcore albums: Drift - Erra An Ocean Between Us/The Powerless Rise - As I Lay Dying Zombie EP - The Devil Wears Prada Dead Throne/8:18 - TDWP Deep Blue/Horizons - Parkway Drive Homesick - A Day to Remember Waking the Fallen - A7X Shogun - Trivium Messenger/Constellations - August Burns Red In Shallow Seas We Sail - Emery (post hardcore) Every Silent Planet album, especially the Night God Slept Node/Singularity - Northlane Watchers of Rule/The March/The Oncoming Storm - Unearth Happiness in Self Destruction - the Plot in You (and Tewers' Ai640 series) I Let the Devil In/The Way It Ends/TPIFS - Currents Alive or Just Breathing/As Daylight Dies - Killswitch Engage Lost Forever // Lost Together - Architects The Fall of Ideals - All That Remains Lead Sails, Paper Anchor - Atreyu Worlds Apart/Neverbloom (deathcore) - Make Them Suffer Miss Machine - The Dillinger Escape Plan Lost In The Sound Of Seperation - Underoath Jane Doe - Converge The Poison - BFMV The Flood/Of Mice & Men - Of Mice & Men Bless the Martyr, Kiss the Child - Norma Jean Hearts Once Nourished With Hope and Compassion - Shai Hulud
Well we now know who 3/5 of ETID started their new band with, producing god Will Putney (also in Fit For An Autopsy and End) and Dillinger frontman Greg Puciato.
Saw DBD and Terror play a show in an old basketball gym in my hometown in high school. There was a pile up/sing along for one of Terrors songs which I can’t remember right now, probably 40-50 people myself included. Guy climbed up some equipment and pulled himself off the basketball hoop and did a flip onto the pile. Still one of the crazier things I’ve been a witness to in my life.
Metalcore definition Unearth put out an absolute banger album today, while a younger hardcore band, Drain, did as well. Drain also has a Descendents cover on the new album as well
Start with the album Laugh Tracks. Their heaviest (and best imo). His voice is an acquired taste to be sure
you know you guys are welcome in the Heavy Music thread. there's like 5 people who like harsh vocals on this website.
honeslty I was a little confused when this thread started but didn’t know if there was hardcore-metal beef which necessitated this thread
Erra is a friend that I grew up withs band. We used to play a lot of music together. Cool to see how big they’ve become.
I've always got the vibe that, outside of some select stuff, metalcore/deathcore/etc aren't really that thread's cup of tea.
It may not be everyone in the thread’s cup of tea but that doesn’t mean it can’t be discussed. Hell one of those most frequent posters has a Converge avatar (hi Heavy Mental). The thread is for discussing and sharing heavy music, whatever the subgenre.
Outside of Waking the Fallen by Avenged, my intro to metalcore (heavier music in general) back then must've been the Devil Wears Prada's Zombie EP. I was obsessed with that EP. For deathcore, it was Whitechapel's Somatic Defilement.
i've mostly moved away from metalcore as i've aged but that ep remains the best thing the genre has produced and i still listen to it regularly
nothing tops dear love for me. it was practically the only thing me and my friends listened to that summer it came out
