that is a good question and I did not want to be insensitive but I feel like it is pretty incredible that it does not happen more often
I have a nice scar on my neck from a skate that was half an inch from a Malarchuk. It's surprising it doesn't happen more often.
i am going a little off topic here but I played with some doctors and they were unanimous, sure there are some risk playing hockey or any dynamic sport but the benefit is always greater than the risk. Translation, if you stay home and sit on your ass you will die sooner than if you are active as fuck. That is what the stats say
But it is because it’s an intra mural league and those are the rules , I think most of the guys would wear a semi if possible.
top 3 is a stretch. problem is they refuse to break up the fourth line and it’s tough for him to get in the top 9.
Awful. Feel extra terrible for the guy who will probably never be able to forgive himself despite it being an accident
Didn’t see the video and won’t watch it but how did it happen? Did a skate come way up or did he fall?
he’s hasn’t been better than Tippett or Konecny, Atkinson and Farabee are healthy this year, and Forester and Brink outplayed him in preseason and took his spot.
I will probably try a neck protector for my game next week. It’s always freaked me the fuck out thinking about it. But when you do think about it, it’s super rare in any sport other than MMA that a foot goes to neck/head area. Even in football when guys are flipping over every week. If anything I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more for youth as kids are literally falling over each other constantly. At least at the start. In my 6 year olds intro class they play this game where they all chase a ring on the ice. It’s hilarious but there’s pileups.
adults too and while we are on the subject, neck guards should be better than what they are now. I can’t believe someone Can’t make a flexible fabric that can cover the neck from pucks and blades
I always thought it was interesting that growing up USA Hockey required mouth guards and Hockey Canada required neck guards, but neither required the other.
Mentioned itt but seems like that kinda play would ultimately happen way more often, feels like that helmet to the knee tackle 1 in a million play that screwed Marcus Lattimorre. It's just scary for all parties involved, just can't imagibe it happening to a teammate and anyone acting rationally in the immediacy.
The Banks finally breaking up the 4th line. doubt Frost plays down there so they'll probably slide Laughton down if I had to guess.
not necessarily this clip, but the idea that this was at least somewhat intentional is getting way more attention today than I expected.
I'm seeing it aggregated by a bunch of bot and troll accounts, but yeah, there's some real racism being spread on the internet. People fucking suck.
There is a reason you rarely if ever see someone kick another player on the ice. Everyone knows the damage that can be done. It's also the reason every league doesn't let you score a goal with a kicking motion. Dirty players have been a part of every level of hockey for years and nobody ever kicks somebody. This is a stupid convo and now there is a TMB thread about it.
I just watched the actual play for the first time in the other thread. I think its very easy for someone who doesnt watch a lot of hockey or knows the game that well to think it was intentional. It's also hard to type that without feeling like one of those "you dont know ball" douches. But it kind of is true in this matter.
It’d be hard enough to deal with the fact that it happened let alone some racist losers on Twitter claiming you purposely tried to kill someone
