Dell homer here. LG makes great stuff on the high end tv side - I'm not familiar with their LCD products on the monitor side or productivity/general use monitors. They do have a lot of shenanigans and needless features across their other products. They are probably fine. Dell is starting to add unnecessary ports to most monitors for more $$$$

I love it. Honestly hate going back on some games to 16:9, I guess it depends on what you play the most? But for RPGs, FPS it’s so nice.
Time to upgrade my desktop, seems like laptops are getting absurdly good bang for buck these days. Just a quick search (and I'm probably 6-7yrs out from my last i5/GTX960 build so I'm too far outdated to update components): $930 desktop $850 laptop $700 laptop $800 laptop I think I'm going to upgrade components, but I never do. Maybe I should just dock a laptop, thoughts?
the desktop is more or less what i have now. you'll be fine for 1080p stuff if that's what you're after
The gaming I do isn't that demanding, and storage is cheap enough to overcome with external hard drives. The more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards the idea of a laptop. Just finishing my office build (this is a rendering from Havenly, I won't be using an apple desktop): If I go back to a desktop, I'll cut a hole in the wall behind the desk (pretty much right below the desktop level, and install a brush plate to pass cables through to the closet. I'll keep the tower and printer in there. My new desk is minimal, and I could probably run a laptop in a tray mounted underneath out of sight. Would save me the trouble of doing the pass-through.
How do you like the desk? I'm looking for a new one so I can retire the awful folding table I've been using.
nice digs. I'd absolutely go desktop and leave in the closet. My brother just Desktops last much longer than laptops iyam. They are not perfect, but for home/main machine with an office, I wouldn't consider a laptop unless you leaned heavily into extra monitors and a premium dock (+$500 or so to your laptop cost) Where would you game 'on the go'?
Thanks. We use Havenly design. This is our fifth room. I have zero interest in gaming from a laptop or ever gaming in another room in the house. My office is my sanctuary, the laptop is just a cleaner option than a desktop (plus, I’ve proven that I do not upgrade components… I just ride what I have and replace every 5yrs or so.) Laptops seem to be plummeting in price: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6535497.p?skuId=6535497
I've always been interested in trying them out. I'm assuming you like their service with it being your fifth room. Do you typically go with the Online Full package? What's your process for choosing the designer, or do you just stick with the same one each time?
It's no slouch but gaming on a 14" monitor? Also, 4050 mobile sounds nice but is equivalent in performance to the GTX 1660 Super/GTX 1070, cards released between 2016-19.
We found a guy that’s been awesome and stuck with him. And yes, the full design package. They always run sales, so you can get that for like $100, then set your budget. They get a percentage from the sales you purchase through them, paid for by the third company. (That is, click through Havenly to buy your West Elm shit, Wedt Elm pays Havenly a vig.) It’s a great business model.
Palworld is fun so far. Started a server with a couple of others. It's rough around the edges but has the formula for a great game.
i thought it was surprisingly polished for early access from a smaller studio. regardless, very good game. really solid survival. probably the best pokemon game ive played. they do so many things right.
Nice, would you be open to sharing the designer you stick with in PM? No big deal, if not, but I imagine we'll be using that service here relatively soon and I do like the renderings you've shared on here before
palworld is the 6th game to break 1 mil concurrent players on steam and 5th highest peak of all time. could easily pass dota for 4th this evening.
Try different ports on the graphics card, including dvi. Then try plugging in on mobo if the graphics card doesn’t work. That should at least tell you if the gpu has gone bad or if it’s something else. Also have you tried a different tv/monitor?
I have tried it on 2 TV's and used 3 different HDMI cables that all work with both of my blu ray players.
At first it restarted in the middle of GTA, and then it restarted a couple of times while I was just running a security scan and then it just did it on its own.
have you opened a command prompt and run this command? sfc /scannow if you have errors you can run dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Anyone played Enshrouded yet? Looks pretty interesting, just not sure how much of a story there is vs. the survival genre.
I gave Enshrouded a couple hours. Don't like it. I wanted to play as a wizard, but don't like the healing system, the lack of brightness controls, lack of direction in regards to obtaining things (like how to get metal scraps). I'm old, I need more hand holding, lol.
What level/price point of laptop would I need to get so the wife could play games on? My time at sandrock, palworld, genshin etc.
Posted in the PS thread, but forgot it is coming to PC day 1. Anyone getting Helldivers 2? First one was a very underrated game and this one looks like an improvement in every way. Only $40
Great Humble Bundle on Capcom games right now. Yes, it is a ton of Street Fighter, but Mega Man and some of the old school arcade games make it worth it to me. https://www.humblebundle.com/games/...medium=takeover&hmb_campaign=capcomfeb24_home
