Gosh, I really goofed it. Glad I didn't post anything last night when y'all got fisted 7-1, can't imagine how embarrassing that is for ya.
I didn't alert the entire Michigan fanbase mid ass beating so, I'll live. Keep rostering 1/3 of the 1st round of the NHL draft and winning nothing.
Some great matchups over the weekend. BC swept BU in a matchup of #1 and #3 Attended the UND sweep of Denver in Grand Forks in a matchup of #2 and #6 Minnesota and Sparty split after Minnesota let one get away on Friday in a matchup of #9 and #7 Wisconsin earned a split at Michigan in a battle between #5 and #12 NCAA tournament this year looks to be pretty wide open.....return of the blue bloods.
We definitely blew it on Friday. 2 goal 3rd period lead, numerous power plays and we make a bad pass that leads to a shorty to tie it and then give up a game winner with 0:04 to go.
Saw them play a couple times this year in Grand Forks. I like the way they play, love their Jerseys and we have benefitted with getting Jandric and Pyke in the portal from them. They probably need to take 3 of 4 from Arizona State and run the rest of their schedule to get in tournament position. Would love to see them do it!
Minnesota sweeps PSU with a pair of shutouts 3-0 & 3-0. The Gophers have only given up 2 goals in the last 2 weekends and 3 in the last 5 games (@ MSU, @ Wisc, PSU).
Looking at the math(probability matrix), it looks like their are 5 spots up for grabs at this point in the season. Boston College, University of North Dakota, Boston U, Wisconsin, and Michigan State are all locked in. Maine, Denver, Minnesota, and Quinnipiac all have a 99% chance or better to be in. Atlantic Hockey Champion and CCHA Champion will take spots with teams outside the top 16. Teams in the mix for the last 5 spots, in current order with liklihood of making the tournament as an at large team....barring any upsets in the B10, NCHC, Hockey East, and ECAC confernce tournaments. Massachusetts 82% Western Michigan 67% Cornell 42% Providence 71% St. Cloud State 48% Michigan 42% New Hampshire 4% Colorado College 33% Arizona State 2% Northeastern 3%
We get checked in to the goalie, score a goal, gets waved off. Every goalie interference call goes against us regardless of the circumstance. That is 4 goals between ND and Wisconsin where all the calls went against us and I thought they would all be for us. (Edit: I have no problem with this last goal being waved off if the ND goal was waved off earlier, it’s that they were different calls that highly bothers me)
Well Colorado College put a whooping on my squad this weekend. They are playing pretty well and are legit. Having arguable the best goalie in the country certainly gives them confidence. They took it to UND last night and UND kind of took it to them for first two periods tonight outshooting them 36-17 but only led 2-1 and then CC they took over in the 3rd. I think any skilled, fast team that relies on getting offense off the rush and carrying the puck into the zone would not want anything to do with them in a one and done tournament. I know I have seen enough of them this season.
Got spicy in Alaska tonight. First square up fight in college hockey I can remember in a long long time. Nanooks won 3-1 https://www.facebook.com/share/r/Xwtv2Vejb86v4adQ/?mibextid=FBR332
Crazy turnaround year for Wisconsin. Heading into the last weekend with a shot to win the B1G and an outside shot at a 1 seed in Hasting's first year.
Cool to see he’s been able to have success at multiple stops. He was a legend coaching the Omaha Lancers before he got back into the college game.
Congratulations Sparty. Blowing a 2 goal 3rd period lead and losing in the last 4 seconds stings a bit less knowing that game helped put Sparty over the top of the Badgers.
Minnesota beat Michigan 6-2 last night. Hat trick for my son’s pen pal Jaxon Nelson. Minnesota moves up to #7 in the PWR and Michigan moves to #15 which is a tough spot to earn an at-large berth.
Ohio State with the upset over Wisconsin last night in game 1 of the 3 game playoff. Current Pairwise…Michigan has moved up to 10 which is a good spot. MSU, UMN & UW sitting in that 2 line. As of today, the PWR would put UND, UMN & CC in the same bracket. Brutal. MSU & Western Michigan as a first round matchup. Wisconsin v Quinnipiac and Maine v Michigan seems like the obvious change.
Absolutely 5 and a game for that. Nothing other than a vicious check from behind into the boards was the outcome there. The Penn State kid didn’t change directions at the last second or anything. No idea what Snuggybear was doing there.
Penn State had a check more directly from behind 1-2 minutes in to the power play that didn’t get called. My disagreement is primarily with the game DQ. You don’t have to DQ on a 5 minute major.
The Big Ten has made is so hard to enjoy college hockey. BTN+ is a joke and the games are inherently boring because the reviews are outrageous. I know the latter is more of a systemic issue in college hockey but it’s so bad. That said, I hope we get Michigan/Michigan State and Minnesota/Wisconsin next weekend.
you guys that follow and know the sport better. UNO swept North Dakota this weekend and is currently HOT 20-10-4 and moving up fast in rankings. Any chance they can get in outside of continuing that?
http://www.playoffstatus.com/ncaahockey/ncaahockeytournseedprob.html Right now they are in decent shape but if Quinnipiac doesn’t win its tournament and there someone like OSU wins the B1G, they would probably be in real trouble.
Yeah, I’d say good side of the bubble currently but how many automatic bids get in (that wouldn’t have otherwise) matters a lot as well as staying ahead of WMU, etc.
