I don’t wanna spoiler any for those that haven’t watched yet, but I also don’t think we should have to spoiler a week after they aired. Spoiler The fire burning all the tapes is so dumb. You have this incredible piece of evidence and you handed it over without first making a copy, and secondly those entrusted with making copies left them all in a non fire proof safe.
Enjoyed season 1 for the most part. Watched sea. 2 ep. 1 and that's enough for me. The implication that writing about something newsworthy is the most important thing you can do and repeatedly risking your life to do so was very funny to me. Enjoy fellas, I'm done ...
Fwiw - I read the memoir this is all based on after season 1. Adlestien comes off as an incredible douche that loves the smell of his on farts. The self import he placed upon himself as a journalist isn’t too far off. Show is way more entertaining than the book.
At this point the only part of the newspaper I care about it is the conspiracy that a higher up had the tapes burnt. Sato’s story line and now Katagiri’s are what I’m more interested in. Episode one was shaky but 2 was better and 3 was solid.
Solid show so far this season. Seems a weird hill to die on. There are so many dramas that follow the same premise about the importance of writing, but this one was based on memoirs. I am assuming they are embellished and dramatized, but so far it has been a good ride this season. I did feel like episode 1 belonged as the finale to last season, but I can live with it.
Just too dark and depressing for me at this point. The journalism thing was just an observation, it wasn't anywhere close to the whole reason I'm stopping ...
Gotcha. I thought you were just saying it's too ridiculous, but countless examples of brave journalists who have done crazy stuff. In this case, real life guy is very likely an asshole.
No, just a little too gritty for now, wife agreed we need a little less grit in our viewing hence the call ...
Started this yesterday and am already 5 episodes deep, into it for sure. Also, as someone that works in an office that is ~30% Japanese, getting a peak into life in Tokyo is super fascinating to me. Also get a kick out of hearing a word/phrase that I actually recognize and understand.
I mean I feel like there are definitely people out there like that. You had reporters in war zones all the time in the past.
Ishida Gonna get Sato killed for real this time as he didn’t have a chance to tell people his thoughts on Hayama still being a dumbass no nice tidy happy ending for all I want the architects house
Couple episodes into season 2. Enjoying the show. Do Japanese people really smoke that much? Everyone is chain smoking the whole time
100%. About 30% of my office is Japanese assignees...smoke breaks once an hour, multiple cigs per break most of the time. I had a coordinator who had an older iPhone with a physical button on the bottom and that shit was yellow after a while.
Spoiler I’m assuming one of Sato’s crew told Hayama where they were headed and then Hayama ordered the hit as well. Though the pics of the president speech for the terrible alibi give me pause
I thought that was the finale since there were 8 episodes in season 1. I like how they setup the home stretch.
Good ep. BUT Spoiler why did misaki make this big thing about going to sam because she couldn't be seen going to Jake's apartment only to go to Jake's apartment. Lmao
I love this show but we had an episode where Jake went home then somehow figured out where Tozawa got his transplant then saw a $250,000 watch by means of Tozawa having an unpaid bill to the hospital Was the dumbest shit ever
...and that wasn't even my biggest issue with those episodes. He literally left his bipolar sister without speaking with her and they never revisited the effects of that. I really did enjoy the show though regardless of how neatly they wrapped up the final episode. It was a bit anticlimactic. Solid article interviewing the director and talking about the culture and a possible season 3. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/t...ce-season-2-finale-death-season-3-1235866871/
