At a bachelor party in Mexico for one of the guy’s I met at a festival and they all mostly went to Servite. Chris Galippo got brought up because they graduated with him and one person asked “is he still on roids?” thought you guys would enjoy that hahah
Hahahah yup. My friend from high school went to Loyola Marymount for college and I met his friends, then it turned into meeting more people. He now lives in Dublin and I fill in as the resident Michigan degen for these fucks.
We went from three ACC wins to seven. This is with a roster that returned two scholarship players - zero with any real contributing track record. It was literally a complete rebuild. He improved ND more in his first year than he did Penn St. in his first year there. Can you remind us of how the jump from year 1 to year two went at Penn St.? Or let us know by how much PSU's record improved after he left? Stepping back from the snide comments, I don't think you understand how bad it was and how much it improved on paper and on the court (especially the back half of the season.) Though nothing is guaranteed. He still has his work cut out for him this offseason. The needs are well known. There is a lack of scoring options, depth at the bigs and having anybody else who can handle the ball. But my God, the upgrades in effort, defense, athleticism and size (though not enough yet here) over the end of the Brey era are significant.
He sacrificed some short term gains for the setting up of his program/culture. He didn't just go try to get every transfer. He probably set this seasons success back some by being really selective and playing guys who were gonna be apart of his building of the program. But I think that was calculated. Expect to see another jump next year.
He was never going to stay at PSU longterm so him leaving when he did (right after an amazing season by psu standards) it allowed us to at least seemingly upgrade. What felt like a death blow initially feels fairly positive now. Also I don't have to watch his son play anymore.
Haven't been super close to NCAAB this year so figured PSU must be like back dooring a tourney bid or something Didn't know cocky thread drop ins were a thing for a 16-16 year lmao But glad we're both happy
I don't know, but its gotta be pretty tough to look in the mirror if you think Nick Saban is an underachiever.
Good to know there's another good basketball coach at Penn state that we can take if Shrews doesn’t work out
man, I sure read the words "Notre Dame" quite often in this article...it's amazing how irrelevant we are https://www.espn.com/college-footba...-conferences-expected-agree-next-cfp-contract
Too late, I already did it all jokey-like. Plus I got bottom paged, so very low engagement. Total bummer for me.
curious if this is consistent with his views on the quality of recruiting services, because the only way this internally consistent if you believe that A recruiting grades are perfect and B there is absolutely no luck of variance in performances and the best team always wins every single game
yeah I thought about engaging with those sort of questions but I didn't have the energy for a 4HL argument today.
plus, how he thinks urban would not flame out after 3-4 years like he did everywhere he went the sustained success over a very fast evolving game is really what makes saban such a crazy good coach
Why do we want a 14 team field again? What would the bracket even be? Current structure only 11-14 and 12-13 face off or something?
I'm just afraid of teams like that 2001ish USC team - Carroll's first year and with Carson Palmer that had 2 losses and then beat the piss out of us when undefeated to finish the year. I don't think anyone was beating them if they get in a playoff. I'm pretty comfortable being on the side of wanting to prevent such teams from being rewarded with a championship because I think the likelihood of us fitting that mold is rare. Ultra talented team that fucks around early and figured it out late.
I think a breakaway is just a matter of time. TV money can't grow at this rate forever, so the next move will be jettisoning the dead weight.
