...nope, not going to say anything & potentially upset the tennis gods. I'll wait until the end of the match.
This is why her lines are so nuts towards the end of the season. It’s essentially just betting on when she’ll run out of gas. Also she seems like a good person. That being said I’ll always be rooting for her at AO and it bothers me that I want to know what’s different about that court for her.
What’s crazy is medvedev hasn’t seemed all that great this year… But… he reached final in AO, lost in semis to the eventual champ in Dubai, then just lost the final today. He’s in that wild place of being a cut above everyone that’s not ranked ahead of him (or ugo when he’s in god mode).
Oh wow. I hate speculating but there had to be a domestic argument I would think. This is going to weigh on Sabalenka for a LONG time. After having my girls brother commit suicide around 2 months ago, it's a very hard situation to deal with.
According to the commentators on the Stearns match, Sabalenka is going to still play Miami but will do no press pre/post-match.
Okay its a tough conversation but when is Venus going to hang it up. Sucks she's an all time great and legend but she is 6-32 since the start of 2020 and she's using Wild Cards that could be helping the younger players. American Players that had to go through Qualifying Taylor Townsend Emina Bektas Bernarda Pera Claire Liu McCartney Kessler Robin Montgomery Kayla Day Alycia Parks Katie Volynets Losing in the first round is worth $23,250 and 10 Points
This is what I said a few years ago and got shit on for it. On top of that she is beyond boring to watch. Maybe some people enjoy it, for nostalgia?
Wife went to her match here in Indian Wells and left the match really pissed off. Venus was atrocious and just embarrassed herself with her play and especially her effort. Wife said the same thing about getting out of the way and leaving the WCs for the up and comers ...
I don't think it's a tough conversation at all - she should have hung it up two years ago. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's her fault those other players aren't getting wildcards, because that's not her decision. But the idiots running the tournaments should know better by now and need to stop.
I was one of the ones who had no problem with Venus sticking around and playing the last couple years — even on WC’s. But yeah, it’s time now. She put in a decently game effort against a very good young player but she can’t move and had no chance of winning that match.
Los Cabos is clay now? Don't like that. The hardcourt swing from Wimbledon to US Open just being DC, Cincy, Canada and Winston-Salem is tough.
I think I've seen enough to say that Naomi's back. Might take her another 6 months to get back to her very best form, but she's well on the way.
Bad loss for Coco or has Garcia just remembered which end of the racquet to use again at this tournament? Taken down two big opponents in a row.
Fucking love Andy Murray. If you haven’t seen it, the documentary about his recovery from hip surgery is really good. also the roar of the crowd when he won wimby in 2013 is one of the best tennis things ever.
