Ok wait, now I need a methodology breakdown for the favor thing. How is it +0.61 to the Angels if he had one missed call that led to a walk which then didn’t score a run in that inning?
It’s about the potential to score, not if they fuck it up. Of course the Angels fucked it up because it wasn’t Trout batting
That is remarkably clear. I am gonna devalue it in my brain some though, thought it was more outcome driven than that.
I'm assuming it's to keep his innings count down to pitch as deep into the season as possible? But I agree, the 3 inning starts are stupid if they're not ramping him up for a lot more soon. I feel like that's part of what derailed Forest Whitley's career with Houston in the minors.
Unfortunately, Whitley's career has been derailed for multiple reasons, including some of his own doing. But was happy to see him finally make it up to the bigs this week and hope he returns at some point this season, he looked pretty good the other night.
It seems like letting a guy go out every start and rip it like a RP for 3 innings is asking for trouble when you want them to go 6+ buy maybe that's what they want from guys these days.
He basically had 2 straight years off, which sucked. I just thought it was really weird in 2017-18 when people were drooling over him as a prospect that almost all of his starts went 4 innings. Then once he started trying to go beyond that in AA he started getting beat up. I get the notion of saving arms and innings limits, but I don't think entire seasons of that kind of stuff is helpful to future starters.
Yeah, I agree with all of that. And i know we've previously discussed my friend Kenny Baugh and his first starts in the minors, but that was a much different situation and he had just pitched a ton in college right before that (and, on a side note, he and i had lunch again recently--we still work in the same building--and i for some reason think of you when we start talking pro ball...but we usually discuss real estate/business, our mutual friends, and Rice baseball/athletics much more)
I don’t understand how it’s the Rockies fault if they were openly invited into the cockpit but that’s hilarious

They should've just embraced the pinkish magenta color thing instead of the concrete grey look. It just looks like something my hs baseball team would draw up if those goons had permission
Phillies playing the Rockies and White Sox back to back it like turning the video game on Rookie difficulty.
