Not mad just certainly a weak portion of the season. This season has far exceeded my expectations it just sounds like Gould isn't in a rush to do anything so I think that was a way to keep things interesting.

If that was the end of Jimmy and creation of Saul I would be pretty let down but it doesn't appear that is the direction they are going in which is good.

Finale was incredibly meh. One of the worst episodes of the season. Thought we were building towards something and it just kind of ended.

According to Gould's article that wasn't the last we have seen of Jimmy and there is a lot more development for Jimmy and Mike.

Yeah not one of the better episodes, but some solid character building.... not what I expected for a season finale.

Didn't really understand why Jimmy bailed on the meeting with the new firm.

To me, the character of Saul isn't just about conning people and breaking rules, it's about doing whatever it takes to win. And the opportunity to work for that new firm seemed like a great option for both the Jimmy and Saul persona.

i think he held on to jimmy as long as he thought he had a shot at impressing chuck. he doesnt anymore and dont want to impress other people like chuck he wants to do whats best for himself.

I dont think Jimmy is dead but i dont think we'll see a lot of his Jimmy side when it comes to being a lawyer. i think we'll see Jimmy on Sauls personal level.

    Right.

How would working for the new firm on the case not be what's best for himself?

I'm sure it would be for some people. but im pretty sure he wants to answer to no one. plus being able to steal the next bag of money as he said he would. something he cant do at the firm.

His lynchpin was chuck. He's found out that chuck only cares about himself, first and foremost. And he still looks up to chuck considering he still checked up on him after returning to NM.

So he sees someone he has always respected and held high look out for numero uno so that is exactly the think he is going to do now

he's gonna get a huge cut of that case whether he works it or not. he's also seen how lucrative being a criminal attorney can be and what things are like in a more corporate environment. presumably he's more comfortable being slipping jimmy with a law degree or as chuck described it, a "monkey with a machine gun"

i'm not sure that chuck was looking out for himself by being an asshole. he has a high opinion of his profession, and a low opinion of his brother.

Said this on the gay board we had going while tmb was down and still applies about chuck.....this was after the 2nd to last episode

you dont fuck the hand thats been literally feeding you for years since your illness. Everything that he was using daily (ice, eggs, liquor, steaks, etc....) "slippin jimmy" was bringing to him. The least he could do is help Jimmy out. Guess we now know why he didnt want to try the case with just him and jimmy and wanted it to go to HHM

I think people might be overstating the differences between Jimmy and Saul. Although he was a criminal and an unabashed ambulance chaser, Saul was never devoid of morality imo.

I was satisfied with the ending. This season was the origin story of Saul. Wonder what the arc of next season will be. :bartscottcantwait:

read a sepinwal interview with peter gould, and rest assured, that is definitely not where they're going. that is what they anticipated when they first pitched the series, but they realized there's too much left to tell.

    Right.

Saul refused a bribe and threatened to call the cops reporting it in his Breaking Bad debut. He wasn't nearly as crooked as some here seem to remember him as.

Fuck off with crying about the finale.

Every episode can't be full of crazy shit, thought it did a good job of building Jimmy/Saul for coming seasons.

I took the ending as Jimmy realizing he found an even easier way to make that type of money without having to take the same beaten path (Firm Partner). It's like he finally found the confidence that he can do it his own way and not need to live off anyone from HHM. He won't be able to use his scamming skills at that firm

He doesn't care what anyone thinks anymore. Kim will probably be the new social contact that challenges him to do not be Saul now

its just that the 2nd to last episode was mind blowing how it came down to Chuck and Jimmy's conversation which was pretty much the best part of the show so far at least for me. And you were expecting fireworks in the season finale and not much happened besides marco dying

so its not hate, its just a little less than expected, but i still enjoy it and the first season overall i enjoyed immensely and i cant wait until season 2

I thought the Finale was the 2nd best episode of the season, 1st was obviously the one centered around Mike.

I thought the finale was a great way to wrap everything up. Nice little Mike/Jimmy exchange at the end. There were episodes that had "more action" but the finale was great at moving the story forward without just rushing to Saul.

Also, the ring he got from Marco (and he was fiddling with as he turned back from going into the courthouse) he was wearing all through Breaking Bad.

Watching BB again. Looks like we will definitely meet Todd and company in BCS. He mentions in the episode where they start with the pest company that he had been keeping them out of legal trouble for 5 years, so 3 years prior to BB starting.
