I am and it fucking sucks. So far my first two leads are to either go back to Iraq or go to Afghan, neither of which is very high on my wish list. Plus I can't draw unemployment since I wasn't working in the states.
I was looking for over 3 months. Finally landed something last week. It just takes time and lots of resume sending.
We need to have a TMB Job Help/Connections thread imo. Lots of people around here in good spots across the country that could point people in the right direction.
2 interviews last week, and another prelim on Thursday. One of them better work out since I'm ready to quit school
I agree.... I can see the interviews now... "So you were highly recommended by herp derp. How do you know him?" "He put up some quality pics in the Jailbait thread so I liked them" (poker face)
Same. These motherfuckers need to get themselves some jobs, shit is so much easier when you already got a job. But on a serious note, I feel you job seekers, I was there last year.
Sort of. If I could find something that I paid my teacher's salary in a field I'm interested in I'd leave tomorrow. Can't say I'm pounding the pavement though.
Yeah just had two final interviews with accounting firms last week. One was with help from a member here but hoping to hear at least one piece of good news either on Friday or early next week. Don't even want to think of the scenario of striking out.
I have basically been looking since June and finance jobs have been hard to come by. I feel like damaged goods but I dont really want to take a job knowing I would bail at the first chance of leaving, especially if someone went out on the line for me.
Yea I thought about that and that's why I said "point in the right direction" rather than just straight up get somebody a job. And even then presuming it's TMBers in the same area, you'd still probably meet them/talk to them a lot so they wouldn't just be blindly recommending an e-friend. Mostly meant just say "hey this firm/company has a job opening in X city".
Yea I came home early since the contract was ending. I've been searching about three weeks now. May go apply at best buy since they are hiring seasonal help to pay my bills without wiping my savings out. Plus I'm bored at home all day.
Yeah, I actually had an interview last week, also with help from a TMBer. Hoping to hear back before the end of this week.
Job searching all day every day, fuckin sucks. Not much out there. I'm sending resumes all over the fuckin place.
Currently waiting on two places to get back to me on continuing the process. Can't hire me til 2012 due to budgetary stuff so that sucks.
I had a good interview last Friday and she said she wanted me to come in this week to meet the rest of the team yet I have not heard from her. They release their quarterly results on Tuesday so Im sure they are slammed but the freaking out has started to begin.
I just finished a certificate in technical writing so I just started looking. I do have a job so it's not quite as urgent but I'd like to get out (the pay is shit and I work weekends). My little bit of advice is this. Any kind of experience is experience, so don't be afraid to say you have experience even though all you have is watching your friend do it once. Also, and this is something my adviser just told me. Make a resume for every job you apply to and basically write on your resume what they are looking for. I did this for my internship and had several call backs within days.
OP...change the title of the thread to the Official jobs thread or somethin like that. I know there was one earlier this year but can't find it on TMB 3.0. There are like 5 recruiters and a lot of people that have experience in a lot of fields on here. Lets help one another.
Well I pretty much have a really good offer with the company my dad works for in their management/sales development program(hooray nepotism and my dad being awesome). I just dont want to live in Savannah for the next 2 years or spend my career in that industry so I am looking hard here in FL or Atl. I figure I have a really good back up plan and if i take it I will be a much better candidate in 2 years when I finish the development program.
I love visiting but never wanted to live there again. I haven't lived there since I was 12, so I really dont to talk to anyone there anymore. Plus my mom pushing me to live with them and except maybe the 1st couple months that would not happen.
get your own place and have a great time. there are like a billion worse places to have a 2 year program
In this market you may have to suck it up... Take anything you can get really. Keep searching obviously but thats good to have something to fall back on.
A tip for you job hunters that has helped me. I've always had an easier time finding a job when I already had one. If you can get a job, even if you're over-qualified for it, I think it sends the message to employers that you don't mind working for a living as well as you don't mind doing the work that is below other people with the same qualifications. If you're unemployed the message may be that you really aren't trying that hard to get a job or you'd already have one. Downside is you have less time to submit resumes and go to interviews. Hope this helps.
Changed the thread title. Any recruiters looking for candidates let me know, I'll be glad to send my resume out.
Mule coke, beat up porn stars, blackmail.. I'm well versed. But for real my degree is in business administration (yea I know I should have went more specific), and I have tons of experience with MS Office, and all that typical office drone jazz.
I know MS Office is typically listed as a qualification but is there really anyone who isn't experienced with it?
the people who arent are the ones who already have jobs and are making a lot of money cant explain that
what do you know how to do in excel? Pivot tables? V-look up? Macros? sumif? I just learned pivot tables, but if you have the time, I'd learn how to do those things.
