You really are a moron if you:

    A) Think Mississippi State is/will be better than Alabama
    B) Think Tennessee, Georgia, Auburn and potentially Arkansas will be better than Ole Miss.
    C) To back that up, name the key returning players for each of those teams I just mentioned.

    So to back that up:

    1. Kentucky
    2. Vanderbilt
    3. Florida
    4. Alabama
    5. Mississippi State
    6. Ole Miss
    7. Arkansas
    8. LSU
    9. Auburn
    10. Georgia
    11. Tennessee
    12. South Carolina

Though, 8-12 could end in any variation.

UK is really the only team who will do anything big from the SEC this season.

    1. Kentucky
    - Most talented team in the SEC. No excuse to not win it this season.

    2. Vanderbilt
    - A lot of returning talent along with solid newcomers. John Jenkins, Brad Tinsley, Lance Goulborne, Jeff Taylor and Festus Ezeli (though he's out the first 6 games) make up a formidable first five.

    3. Florida
    - Somewhat of a sleeper. Their two best guards (Kenny Boynton and Erving Walker) are back. Though they lost Alex Tyus and Vernon Macklin, everyone expects Patric Young to breakout this season. Another guy is freshman Bradley Beal who could possibly be the best freshman in the SEC.

    4. Alabama
    - A lot to like with JaMychal Green, Tony Mitchell and Trevor Releford as the foundation. A lot is expected from the freshmen like Trevor Lacey, Nick Jacobs and Levi Randolph. Biggest question mark, as it was last season, is perimeter scoring.

    5. Mississippi State
    - Dee Bost, Arnett Moultrie and Renardo Sidney make a very strong trio. But who's after that? Wendell Lewis and Brian Bryant aren't the answer, but that's why Rodney Hood is expected to do big things.

    6. Ole Miss
    - A lot of question marks, but it's possible this team could be better without a shoot-first PG like Chris Warren. Terrance Henry, Reggie Buckner and Murphy Holloway makeup one of the best frontcourts in the SEC. Sophomore Dundrecous Nelson is expected to be the gunner. Not to mention newcomers Jelan Kendrick (eligible at end of first semester), Jarvis Summers, LaDarius White (if cleared) and others.

    7. Arkansas
    - A lot is made of their freshmen, but the problem is that they'll be carried by freshmen. The only true player Arkansas returns from last season is Marshawn Powell after the defection of Rotnei Clarke. Will Julysses Nobles step into a scoring role? Eh.

    8. LSU
    - They'll be better than last season, but not a whole lot better. Could've been a sleeper had Matt Derenbecker not transferred. The only guy that returns that did a whole lot last season was Ralston Turner and maybe Andre Stringer while the rest were marginal, at best. Another team that'll rely on freshmen like Johnny O'Bryant and Iowa State transfer Justin Hamilton.

    9. Auburn
    - A lot like LSU, they'll be better than last season with a healthy Frankie Sullivan and Texas transfer Varez Ward. There's some young talent but it's still probably a year or so away.

    10. Georgia
    - Gerald Robinson is the only starter returning of worth. Dustin Ware was nice off the bench last season, but we'll see how his role expands. The keys are basically handed to freshman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

    11. Tenneessee
    - Wouldn't be surprised if we see this program take a large step back after Pearl's tenure. Cam Tatum is the only returnee that actually scored the basketball last season, so who steps up? Trae Golden? Could be ugly this season.

    12. South Carolina
    - Just don't see how losing your best post player (Sam Muldrow), second best post player (Murphy Holloway) and best scorer (Bruce Ellington) will help this team. Yes, Ellington is still playing basketball, but picking up football isn't going to help his game. They've apparently got some nice freshmen, though.

SC will be straight garbage. Ellington "says" he's gonna play but honestly I don't see him returning in the end. We are bowl eligible now so football season won't be over until at least late December; hopefully a little later. Even if he does play it will take him two months to find his groove at which point our season will be ending in the first round of the SECT. Never seen fallout from a team like ours last year; seems like 3 or 4 different guys quit or transferred and Muldrow graduated.

Ark will be a much better team than they have been the last 3 years. Powell should finally be healthy and our guards are going to be a terror on both ends. Think we finish around 6th in the league this year. BJ Young is going to be a big time scorer

Sounds exactly like our team. I'm really excited to see Caldwell-Pope perform, but I'm expecting about a .500 year. Hopefully our young front court builds some quality experience this year, Caldwell-Pope stays and we get a solid recruiting class. Then I would be really excited for next year.

We are not going to be that bad. We lost Thompkins and Leslie but add Caldwell-Pope, Gerald Robinson and Ware are back, and we have a lot more depth down low this year (including a JUCO transfer). I would be surprised if we weren't at least a .500 team this year.

pretty meh so far although we're probably only taking 2. Trying to get Willie Cauley but I think he ends up at KSU or UK. Trying to get Devonta Pollard I doubt it. Will probably end with Jacorey Williams in-state and whatever big man we can get. 2013 is more of our focus with 2 guys already committed and going hard after 2 others.

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State senior Dee Bost was named to the media’s All-Southeastern Conference’s first team today.
Mississippi State was picked to finish fifth in the SEC. The media picked Kentucky to win the SEC championship.
    Here’s more from the SEC:

Each SEC school selected media members that cover their team and additional media from across the nation were selected by the conference office to form the voting panel.
The Wildcats, who are coming off a 29-9 season that saw them advance to the NCAA Final Four, earned 18 first-place votes. Vanderbilt earned four first-place votes while Florida received one vote.
Last week Kentucky was ranked second nationally in the preseason ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ hoops poll while Vanderbilt was seventh and Florida was 10. Alabama was ranked 17th and Mississippi State was among the teams receiving votes.
Kentucky sophomore Terrence Jones was the choice of the media for SEC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year with 12 votes. Vanderbilt junior John Jenkins finished second (nine votes) while Alabama senior JaMychal Green (one vote) and Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis (one vote) also received votes in the Player of the Year voting.
Jones, Jenkins and Green were joined on the All-SEC First Team by Mississippi State senior Dee Bost and Vanderbilt senior Jeffery Taylor.
Davis and Vanderbilt’s Festus Ezeli led All-SEC Second Team honors and were joined by Florida’s Kenny Boynton and Erving Walker along with Kentucky’s Doron Lamb and Darius Miller.

LSU will not finish in the top 8 barring some sort of miracle. They picked up a couple decent recruits, but they also lost a couple guys to transfer that played a lot last year (on a team that sucked ass already)
