I'm talking like hotels/comps/other shit like that.
Can't find one. Anyone else here a regular Vegas visitor?

    *Updated unsolicited advice*
-Don’t stay at an AirBNB, condo, timeshare, or [most*] non-casino hotels
*there are a couple on strip non-casino hotels like Vdara and Waldorf Astoria that are right in the mix and a good stay
-Try to stay on the strip, second choice Fremont street downtown, third any casino hotel in the suburbs if you want to do outdoor activities.
-There is way too much good food on the strip. Everyone’s best is different. You’re not going to get to it all probably ever, definitely not in a trip. Don’t worry about it.

I don't think there's an official one. People just tend to ask when they have questions.

    My second home though.

I figure if there is an official thread then the regulars can discuss shit there instead of making threads and if casual visitors have questions people will see them easier.

Let me ask this question. How shitty is Vegas in the middle of the summer. I need to do a bachelor party, but July is about the only month that will work.

    Dry Heat?

I went in August and didn't mind it. It was hot, but dry heat is nowhere near as bad as the heat with humidity in Florida. Summer is when the big pool parties are, so there's that.

this, the three times i have been were May, June and July. never had any problems with the heat cause I was inside all day or just walking to another casino, it also can get down to the 70s-60s at night which feels amazing

Dry Heat will suck if you wear contact lenses, otherwise no biggie.

Anyone ever go to the Mississippi casinos? Every once in a while I hear an ad for them, wonder how good (or not) they are.

It's blazing hot. I was there in August and it was 120 every day. I don't care how dry the heat is, 120 is insanely hot no matter what. The good news is that you aren't going to be outside much anyway.

I second this. I went back in August and it was fine, so long as you are next to the pool when you're outside.

I'm going again in early June for EDC. Can't wait :bartscott:

I've been to Biloxi and Tunica. For Biloxi, I've been to the big ones in IP, Beau Rivage and the Hard Rock. The Beau and Hard Rock were my favorite in that order. They have all of the same games and all as Vegas would minus the sports book.

Tunica was alright, I stayed at the Sam's or something like that. One rec I would do is to stay and gamble at the properties that you have a rewards card or want to get one.

Harrah's in New Orleans is another good option outside of those and I would prob recommend it over those listed above since it is in New Orleans.

It would be interesting if they did have a sportsbook there. Vegas would see so much money walk in college football.

Yeah I was in out in Fresno a summer ago and it was 105-110 every day but didn't really fell bad at all as we were by the pool and what not.

I did try and go for a run after drinking a few at the pool and that was pretty rough. Don't think I'll be doing that.

Dry heat isn't as bad, but it still sucks when it's ridiculously hot. It felt like when I walked out of a building, somebody turned on a giant heater blowing right in your face.

I've only been in December, I can imagine that the summer would be brutal. The strip is like four miles long, but at most you'd probably be walking a mile or two, but doing that in 100 degree heat would be awful. Better off just taking a cab. FWIW last December when I went it wasn't even that cold. It was probably 70s. I remember taking a jacket and not ever wearing it.

I'm here for the inevitable dry heat/Southern heat argument that will derail the thread

    I hope I'm wrong doe

I have never been to Vegas or anything but I have been to Tunica a lot. It's a fun time but that's prolly bc its only an hour drive for me. I would not suggest traveling to Tunica for vacation or anything, bc there is nothing to do besides the casinos (Club Push is outside Horseshoe but it's only open on Saturdays iirc, and not that great of a place. Only been once and i was blackout).

Went in late July/early August. It was a nice break from the humidity in KC. It's not awesome but not horrible either.

Probably be going back in the spring. Last time we went on a 12 hour craps bender until 10 am. It rained too which was weird.

It rained when I was there too last Dec.

has anyone stayed at Imperial Palace? I didn't really want to stay there, but my friend wanted as cheap as possible. I've read some reviews and people complain ab the carpets and shit. I don't care ab it being a clean, nice room just a place to lay my head after getting drunk and gambling.

I've been to Beau Rivage and the Hard Rock. Beau Rivage is very nice. It's the nicest casino I've been to. (I haven't been to vegas since I've been 21) The Hard Rock is pretty cool but it isn't as nice as the Beau Rivage. The Beau has the nicest card room I've ever been in. There is always good action there. The competition is pretty soft too. They have daily sit and go's. Great casino. I've been to the Gold Strike and the Horseshoe in Tunica. I like the Gold Strike the best in Tunica. I went for the World Poker Open at the GS and the action was great. The card room is nice there too. The action was particularly soft at Tunica. The difference between poker in Tunica vs. Biloxi is there aren't nearly as many regulars in Tunica as there are in Biloxi. Tunica is in the middle of nowhere. I have also been to the Silverstar/Golden Moon in Philadelphia and it's pretty shitty. Typical indian casino

Yeah, you get a full meal for something between $15-$22 depending on what you order and you get house wine for free the whole time you're there. They also have an old man with an accordion who asks where you are from and plays you a song in relation to where you are from.

He played "There is no place like Nebraska" for us, was pretty cool

Nice to know. I've had a buddy who would go to MS when he couldn't make it to Vegas, but he never said anything about the quality of the casinos there.

Typical indian casino= old people playing video poker and slots with few if any table games right?

$500 per person for 8 people. On the strip....including airfare. Oh, and we wanna go for 3 or 4 days max.

Have you looked at Airtran for flights? I think Southwest starts flights to Vegas around that time frame as well before the merger starts.

I assume you want to be on the strip? Any of the CET properties will be cheap, most are pretty nice for the price. IP or Flamingo are the best values, plus they're right in the middle. Planet Hollywood is a little more expensive, but more "hip". Plus you can get a 2 bedroom suite in PH towers for a great price when divided up.

If you want to take a weekender out there sometime before that, go and sign up for a players card and use it all weekend. Total Rewards (Caesars) gives out mad comps for not much play. Really, your hotel is just a base of operations in Vegas IMO.

http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/ <----- A great resource for all things vegas. Some of the posters there like to think they're high rollers and try to push the high end stuff, but if you wade through that there is excellent info.

I don't think you need to go more than 3 days, especially for a bachelor party. You'll all be exhausted by the time the 3rd day comes around.

Ehh Silverstar really isn't that bad. They have a pretty crappy card room with pretty minimal action, but the casino really isn't that bad. They have a shit ton of slots but I'd guess 80 tables with about half of them running.

Depends. If you don't like to walk or want to do Palms/Rio or Hard Rock or down town it's nice. Or the dam, etc. Last time I bought a RTC pass and rode the Deuce downtown and back a few times. With free Valet, it almost pays for itself vs cabs if you do a lot of sober travel in town. And it makes Airport to/from really easy.

Really depends on what you plan to do, but it's nice to have as an option. Pretty affordable if you split costs, too. Last time 6 of us rode around a lot of places in a Crown Vic with no problems. A few of us are dbl-sized.

I like the casino there. Smells good, too IMO. Plus they just added the margaritaville casino to it. I stick to Caesars casinos because I get comped at them way better than MGMs. Also easy to upgrade to a GO room at Flamingo.

Heading back next July for the club basketball circuit. Got a great deal at Polo Towers last time, one bedroom suite with a full kitchen that saved us hundreds on meals. Ended up at $125 a night.

Planning on hitting Piccaso, Scarpetta and Mesa when I'm there. Heard the wine list at Piccaso is unreal. For clubs, Haze at Aria was awesome and never, ever, fucking go to Club Jet. Ever.
