getting any better? i will fully admit that first week that i got kate i thought i was going to regret it. no sleep, constant barking, i thought of it as a disaster. the first week is hell, the first month sucks, the first 6 months are hard, then you will find yourself thinking how did i ever live without seeing this smiling face every day of my life.
Well said, ths . All the early years bullshit is worth it when you come home from work every day and get greeted by your pup.
Its gotten alot better. he only wimpers a little bit and only barks a little at night if he has to go out. Its been a full week today and i've been exhausted but im off tomorrow. it helps that i have a female friend to help me out. Never thought it was a bad decision... and i can't wait till he gets a little older. the training phase going to be a blast...
This has been a lifesaver with my weim. Gave her a key and all I have to do is text her and tell her I'm a little busy and she loves that little SOB and will go tend to him as needed. He's been a bit of a pain in the ass lately, ate the silicon case off my phone the other day, shit it out the next day. Gave him a huge followed by
This is Bear. He is about 12, blind, and has diabetes. He went south about a 2 weeks ago, then rebounded. Now he is just laying outside and won't come in. I am afraid to pick him up and bring him in cause he is so long and has hip problems. Probably going to have to take him to the vet tomorrow. This is awful.
Damn man, stay strong, and remember don't make him suffer if it's time for him to go then it's best to do it so that his pain ends. I know that decision is hard and fucking sucks, but it would be for the best. Prayers sent man.
Although those are neat pictures, this is a thread for dogs that belong to mainboarders or their families/girlfriends.. It's not the thread for pics of random of dogs.
Sorry I already promised this one to 09knight in return for a run at his sister. You really can't go wrong with the other one though... just ask dblplay1212
As some of you may know I had to put my dog down about 2 years ago. It's posted back in the thread somewhere with pics.. At the same time we were having our first born child. I told my wife I would wait until little man was 2 before I got another dog.. Well he turns 2 in May and it is time for me to start gearing up.... Thinking about a French Bulldog, another English Bulldog or the pound. I am open to any breed that may be good with a young child... Looking for feedback and suggestions... Thanks
Need help... My female friend has a Cocker Spaniel. It is super hyper and it still isn't potty trained. like it can't be potty trained. been trying and its 6 months old now. any help on the situation would be great. I can't stand this fucking dog right now. (btw, my golden is almost pottytrained already after one week. he is only 8 weeks old )
my cocker could not be trusted to walk around the house without pissing everywhere after 3 months. they're awesome dogs, but dumb as shit. hope that helps.
Had one before.. The care and vet bills are not big deal.. My guy got groomed and pampered constantly. Just trying to get different opinions before I pull the trigger. I am very partial to English and French Bulldogs.
how did you end up housetraining it? we are thinking about getting him one of those diaper for dogs things...
Thinking of getting the wife a dog. She wants a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Anyone know anything about them? Their temperament, etc?
Is she stern with it and does she actually try to train it? I only ask because I know a couple of girls who had dogs that pissed everywhere. But that was because they didn't really try hard and were the type that would giggle saying no when it did something wrong.
she tries. but the dog is also the type of dog that is jumping from wall to wall at a million miles an hour too so when you say no and try to grab him then he has already ran off... i think the dog is just dumb. I mean he litterally sat in front of me and looked me in the eyes and was about to take a shit in my room before i smacked it 3 feet back and grabbed teh fucker and put him outside. we have done everything the books and internet tells us to do... the vet just said "it take awhile with certain dogs" but after 6 months im getting pretty agitated.
putting a bell on the back door was the greatest thing my wife and i did for our dog. Others here suggested it as well. Just everytime you take it out ring the bell, and when he plays with the bell open the door and put him outside so he knows it's not a toy and when it gets hit, he goes out. We've had very few accidents recently thanks to this trick. Our pup is 4 months old FYI
I noticed that yesterday when she was playing with the one in the pet store. Thinking about adopting this one for her
My twin brother just rescued a puppy. Since we are roommates and he works all day while I'm at school, I take care of her all day. :) Abby any hints on raising a puppy would be appreciated. We are crate training her and she is improving slightly but still shits in her crate quite often.
I lost him in the divorce before it was complete, but I believe the trick for boomer was to stick to the crate training, and to not let him run around unsupervised at all until he could hold his piss.
I believe they have one of the shortest life-span of all dogs. I love those breeds, but would hate to see him/her die or be put down after like 7-11 years or something.
We have a divide for it so she fits in it quite well. Why is it unusual? (I don't know shit about raising dogs)
Puppies typically don't want to shit where they sleep. The cage is supposed to be just big enough so they can turn around. If there is too much room that would be more likely.
NY is correct. If you have a divide, just make the area smaller... so if she shits, she'll have to sit in it. If that doesn't work, she might have an intestinal parasite & you'll need to take her to the vet for treatment.
Could also be from stress. I took a new job and couldn't come home at lunch to let my pup out and came home to a crate full of shit and diarrhea for the next couple of days.. even had traces of blood. Vet put him on antibiotics and tested him out for parasites. If she continues, I would take her to the vet to rule out parasites for sure. They also gave him a steroid shot to calm him down and help his stomach not be so twisted.
NYGator Penguin The Duck We have only had her for a week but she doesn't mind too much sitting in her own shit. It's quite annoying but she has gotten a lot better about it. Took her to the vet last week and everything was fine so maybe she's just weird?
How old is she? I'd say it took ours until he was 6 months to stop. We also had a plastic crate and replaced it with a wired one with the removable tray. Actually took the tray out, put a blanket down, and covered all but the front of the crate with a dark blanket. He's just now getting to the point where he doesn't freak out when one of us gets home to let him out. I'd regulate her food before putting her in the crate, and take her out about 10-15 mins before you put her up. We had also been putting like 3+ toys in his crate for him to have, and seemed to have better luck with giving him just 1 or 2. I know it's frustrating and a lot of work, but once you get her figured out it's smooth sailing.
She's ten weeks old. The thing is, myy brother takes her out in the morning and she poops outside every day. Then he goes to work, puts her back in the crate, and I come home at 11:30 to let her back out and she poops the crate every morning.
Place a puppy pad in crate with her. If she's just 10 weeks, that is most likely the problem. Stuff goes out just as fast as it goes in at that age.
Finally got tired of Baxter looking like Simba with his hair short everywhere but his neck/head... which i really was just dreading doing b/c of anticipated difficulty. Which was a fair assumption b/c it was no walk in the park . couple of head jerks later that guys face was choppy and you can see on his left ear where he turned and looked at the garage door when my gf walked up to the window to look and it trimmed too close. all in all... not too terrible. need to get the rest of his hair down to the same level for it to look clean My nigha ain't even mad tho just for comparison / before-after kinda weird cutting him down cuts the deep colored red hair off and leaves him lookin white and real light red
