It was bad enough to make we want to throw the book when I read it; I imagine seeing it on TV will cause seizures.
Grey Wind dying was way worse then Rob for me. Esp after he always hated the family Rob married. Listen to your god damn direwolves Starks, they know what they're doing. Wonder if HBO will show Grey Einds head with the crown on it sewn on to Rob's body. Really hope they do
I think a lot of people will just quit the show, especially the way the are going to build him up as compared to the book. I was never so upset at something I read in my life and had considered quitting for awhile but later that day I read a few more chapters and Joffrey's death made me feel much better. I hope they pair them together in the show, it would be powerful television.
some bookfag will give away the surprise next season, bookfags are worse than a bunch of housewives, want to tell the showfags everything Team BecameBookfagafterbeingShowfagsfirst
already happened at least 5 times in the no spoilers threads where bookfags came in and revealed drogo's death, ned's beheading and at least twice talked about the red wedding and Robb's death
The knee-jerk reaction will definitely be to stop watching the show. I mean there were some people that wanted to quit watching after Ned got his head chopped off.
Seeing Ned die won't hurt nearly as bad as Robb will, especially after getting to know him for 2.5 seasons. By then though the hook will be in too deep to quit.
Anyone who quits a show like this because a character dies is a pool of vaginal discharge, and doesn't deserve to watch it anyways.
Even more so because Ned dying wasn't that unexpected and Robb gets killed at his own damn wedding, along with Grey Wind tacked on. Then there's the fact that Catelyn isn't near as hated in the show, so her dying won't make people happy like it did in the book.
by that point people will be too hooked to just walk away from the show. There will be too much else going on to give up seeing where the story ends up. Plus, in Dinklage I trust.
asked this in the book 2 thread but where can we discuss the show as it goes on and comment on how it differs from the book or new shit they added or just ask questions without worrying about showfags?
well in that case, I read book 2 a long time ago so I had some questions for those that remembered or have read it recently: - The scene where Cersei and Littlefinger got into that discussion about power....was that in the books or was it added? what about the whole Jamie and Robb plus Grey Wind confrontation? Perhaps my memory is bad but all the other scenes I somehow remembered them from the book and it was awesome seeing them in the show. Finally, I still dont like that Osha is going to take the role of explaining the dreams to Bran, the Reeds should have been in the show.
I think those were added. I don't really have a problem with it, since they didn't say/reveal anything that would change anything in the future.
yea but it made Littlefinger seemed not as calculated and cautious as he is. It seems as they are going to make his involvement much more apparent in the show. In the books you hardly knew he was the one pulling all the strings from behind
Yea that was the only thing I didn't really like from the episode. Littlefinger never would have been that obvious or risky with his words. Especially with the queen.
Also I may be wrong on this, but when Tyrion and Shea were talking he said that he couldnt believe that Ned Stark slept on that bed which means that they were in his room. I dont recall Shea coming instantly to his room when she got to King's Landing. I mean I know is picky but given how Tywin was so adamant about him not bringing her to the court it seems a bit weird for him to have her hanging out there immediately. Plus IIRC he had Varys help him out to sneak her in and out and also get her eventually a job there. Again I read the 2nd book a while back so Im not 100% certain on this.. any other things that you guys saw different in the show compared to the book?
wtf op. For every single person on the board, DO NOT mention what is in the op unless you clearly state what scope the post belongs to. Say something like major book 3 spoilers or wahtever. Someone entering this thread could think hey I've read book 2 so it's all good.
FWIW I was kinda hoping we could keep this thread exclusively to those who've read all 5. That way we can literally discuss anything without the need for spoilers.
Episode 2 leaked and the iron islands scene was pretty . Changed up some things and Asha is not nearly hot enough and her name change is retarded. Also who the hell is the crying bitch littlefinger is talking to in his brothel and why is that scene even in the show?
Show fags are gonna go crazy at the end of episode two. I mean first they skip his first two chapters and now this?
yea I watched last night. I know it's alluded to in the books and all, but that scene was a bit much to me.
In the book, Tyrion put her up in a manse outside the red keep. He would sneak out through a secret tunnel in one of the brothels with the help of Varys. Once he had Varys find her a job as Lollys attendant, he would meet up with her in Varys' chambers. I would imagine the change had more to do with saving money by reducing the number of sets to build.
The crying bitch has only been shown about 20 times in the show not sure how ppl can forget roz. I thought the episode was great the yara casting is ugly as hell, maybe her acting will counter that though.
glad to have this thread to satisfy my urge to nitpick everything from the show and compare it to the book. Its amazing that as detailed as the show is, 10 hours of television still isn't enough to accurately portray all of the source material from just one book
well for one they blatantly showed something that was only hinted at in the books (maybe they just didn't want to go a whole season without showing a White Walker). and now they have a whole new dynamic between Craster and Jon that I don't think we need. Craster is represented as someone who is unforgiving. he already hates Jon. how are we supposed to believe this conflict is just smoothed over? I just don't get why it was needed. Jone has plenty to be worried about already this season.
True. I understand why they're doing some of it but I don't agree. They're going out of their way to make Cersei seem like an actual person instead of the evil whore she is in the books, plus they're trying to let everyone know that Littlefinger is a plotter instead of letting it come naturally. I do like them building up Theon a bit more because on my first read I was so confused as to why he just up and decided to betray all the Starks so quick.
To be honest, I don't mind that as much. I never liked his character in the books, and hated having to read his POVs.
I thought she was the whore from winterfell but she's so meaningless I don't even know her name. Why is a scene being wasted on such a meaningless character?
