Overall I thought they did a solid job with season 2 but season 1 was significantly better/truer to the books. So here is my bitch list with the past season: Spoiler I dislike Danys in the books but down right despise her on the show. That "mother of dragons" shit maybe be worse than her brother's "don't wake the dragon" If only Khal Drogo was around to give her a golden crown as well. House of the Undying scene was complete shit. I didn't expect much or it to be anything like the book but I did expect more than that. Still pissed that the chain wasn't incorporated into the storyline. Tyrion got his props in the last episode but he is the star of the second book and I felt like he is kind of just another character on the show. On a positive note, Joffery is perfectly cast and was great again this season I'm also completely ok with the Robb storyline. Having him be a bigger character in the show and having a love interest should make the Red Wedding even better. The Theon/Asha scene in the book is memorable to everyone that read the book, it was nothing on the show I think they missed a huge opportunity by revealing Bran and Rickon were alive the following week, should have saved it for the finale. Also would have gave Catelyn the better excuse for releasing Jaime. I liked the end of the episode but wish they had left the others cloaked and not revealed so much.
read The Hobbit, thought it was pretty good. I have the Lord of the Rings trilogy chilling on my bookcase but have never read them either
Yawn. Boring ass book. Gives good background on the world but its basically like reading the old testament of the bible.
i'm kinda with arrec. it started out slow, but once it got going with all the battles and shit and feanor just rolling through people, it became a pretty awesome read
Same with me. I couldn't get into it. It was terribly boring at the beginning, and never made it far enough to get the action started. I was p young when I tried reading it, though.
Do you think Mel has already had her oh shit moment as far as realizing Stannis isn't AA or do you think it'll be in the next book?
I liked how both Robb as Joffrey said something along the lines of I'll love you till the end of my days. Showfags don't know what's coming.
Totally agree with this, he's definitely my favorite character in the books. If GoT was a movie, this dude would definitely be played by Johnny Depp.
Did anyone else not like the Hagar / Arya exchange? He basically asks her to be a Faceless Man and alludes to the fact that she can merc all the dudes she's been wanting to get revenge on. Totally goes against the whole Faceless Man credo (you become "no one"), and I definitely don't remember Hagar sounding like he was on a recruiting trip for new members. I hated that part of the exchange...
Fair point, but if everyone from Braavos knows the response to the words then they aren't really specific to the Faceless Men.
Speaking of stannis the mannis, that scene was amazing, really powerful. Also, who does everyone think dies or lives by the end? Stannis, victarion, tyrion, jorah, 'aegon', etc...
Stannis - dead Victarion - alive Tyrion - alive Jorah - dead Aegon - dead Euron - dead Jon - alive Bran - a tree Rickon - dead Sansa - alive Arya - alive Dany - alive Selmy - dead Sam - alive Cersei - dead all the Tyrells - dead Jaime - alive ...I'm painting way too happy of a picture here so I'm just gonna stop.
Tyrion, Jon, Bran (though he won't be human), Sansa, Littlefinger, Theon. I could just as easily see grrm killing almost everybody as well.
He'll probably have some heroic death protecting/saving dany. Or he gets the pale mare and shits himself to death. Also, laughed at bran-a tree.
If by that you mean he's a top 5 dumb oaf that gets played like a fool by smarter characters the whole series and has little character depth, then you'd be right. If not: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3y3QoFnqZc
we'll see how the story shakes out with Victarion. he's got the black flame and the horn with him right now. and he's headed to Dany. he's done serving Euron.
lol "stupider" I think you need to go back and read the Victarion chapters in books 4 & 5. he's similar to the Hound in that he despises his brother, but he's a great leader as well and he clearly has a plan and some pretty powerful people/things on his side right now. I'm not saying he's going to marry Dany and bind the dragons to his power, but he's clearly going to have a big part to play in the next book. or the dragons will burn the Iron Fleet in like 30 seconds and I'll look like an idiot.
Have never understood all the love for Victorian. He's okay but definitely not a top 5 character in my eyes
I got to say I haven't read the books but last night I was watching catching up and I decided to go spoiler hunting to see if Bran was really killed by Theon. I got sucked into the whole Spoiler part of it and all I can is HOLY FUCK for the next couple seasons.
