Villa has sacked Alex McLeish today.

Aston Villa can confirm that Alex McLeish's contract has been terminated with immediate effect.
The club has been disappointed with this season's results, performances and the general message these have sent to our fans.
The board wishes to assure supporters that we are conscious in every sense that Villa expects and deserves more and we will strive to deliver this.
Villa chairman Randy Lerner said: "We need to be clear and candid with ourselves and with supporters about what we have lacked in recent years.
"Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent.
"The most immediate action that we can take is to look carefully at our options in terms of bringing in a new manager who sees the club's potential and embraces our collective expectations."
Chief Executive Paul Faulkner said: "We'd like to thank Alex for his hard work and efforts throughout this tough season.
"We are mindful of the club's need to prepare thoroughly for the new campaign and for the new manager to be able to begin working with the board so that he is quickly immersed in these preparations and also in the long-term objectives of the club.
"Our focus now will be driven by these imperatives and we will update when appropriate."

Early favorites for the Villa job is Lambert from Norwich and Martinez from Wigan. Dont see either leaving their current sides.

I believe Martinez has already said he's going to leave Wigan. Villa would be a good place, he'd actually be supported with money and his team wouldn't have to play on a rugby pitch.

Villa should be after Hughton but they're pretty fucking dumb so I doubt they give him a shot.

I just endured Terry Connor for 3 months.

Hughton just took a club that decimated its wage bill after being relegated and had a transfer embargo in place to the brink of promotion. I think one of Swansea, WBA, or Villa would be absolute geniuses to bring him in. There's 3 clubs that love a tight transfer budget and already have a bit of talent in place.

Sure, but he bounced Newcastle right back up when he wasn't able to spend money(at least nothing of major substance)

Then he takes over at Birmingham who are in a similar situation to Newcastle, and almost brings them straight back.

Great coach, great person, deserves to get a shot at a mid-bottom table club

Fuck Lambert. Norwich inducts him AND Grant Holt into its HoF and they both ask to leave. Martinez is too loyal to leave Wigan now that he's pledged his allegiance to them. Villa will hire Lambert, WBA will get Rangnick, and Norwich will hopefully be the ones to give Hughton a chance. Can't hate the Canaries and Hughton absolutely deserves a Prem post.

    Lambert confirmed at Villa.

Mackay (Cardiff) is the odds on favorite to take the job. Hughton, Lee Clark, Steve Bruce, and Neil Lennon are the next favorites with the bookies.

I assume Norwich. I hope they sign up a good replacement.

And I hope Villa gets relegated now. Fuck them and fuck Lambert.

Also, fuck Rodgers. Glad he can't touch any Swansea players for a year.

Rangnick looks about set to take over Albion and as me and 514 have discussed, he should bring a LOT of dysfunction with him. He leaves teams under very sketchy circumstances and doesn't have a stellar managerial record to offset that. Should be fun for the Baggies.

Hope Clarke drags that team to hell. I have no idea what to make of him though, seeing as he's got managerial experience of 1 game. If I had to guess, he'll probably make European champions of WBA.

Bielsa Seems like a great manager but a terrible person to work with. Kind of like Martin O'Neil only better

Marseille ended up naming Ellie Baup to replace Deschamps. Looks like they went for the cheap decision as he has been out of coaching for a couple years. Wish they would have at least tried to get Blanc or Rene Girard.
